Sorry about the salon Granny, as Newleaf has said I'm sure your hair will looked good whatever you do.

Hope you are able to change the hotel and that the time away goes well.
If OH has had a good pay this month then he should contribute more. I have told my OH that if he wants a holiday next year then he will need to put the money aside from his Olympic cover (which he is doing as I look after his internet banking ;))

Glad you enjoyed the iced slices, I remember when I was expecting DD a friend bought me a cream slice about a month before she was due. That was it I was hooked and had at least 2 every day till she was born :rotfl: Strangely I am not as keen as I used to be and she is nearly 27!!

Right need to get sorted for work, enjoy your time, catch up soon

    Take care

Had my final NSD of the month yesterday so hit my target which I'm pretty pleased at as it was ambitious.

Not going to have one today as going to have hair done, having just balanced my books for the month  Wasn't sure if I could afford it as giving DS £300 today for wedding deposit but have decided can just about do it. :j

Does leave me with a very tight month of approx £100 to last the month after all DD/SO are paid and have to get petrol from that :eek:

We are going away on Thurs for 8 days and it is OH birthday on Sat but I've planned for that already. If things get too tight I'm going to ask OH to help a bit as he had awesome pay this month and it really isn't fair that he gets to dictate where it goes whilst I struggle. :(

Haven't decided on a target for NSD next month as I'll have to have as many as possible to eek out my money for as long as possible. Still nothing quite like a challenge to get me motivated. ;)

Yesterday was spent in the house ironing and watching films on Sky, once DGD left. Her DM, DF and DGD2 came over at 10am and then they went off to the beach for the day. Very overcast day but warm so I think they enjoyed. 1st time DGD2 has been that she'd remember anyway and she looked at serious when helping her DM to make sandcastles, from the photos I saw. :T

Made fish and chips for tea and I so enjoyed them but the smoke alarm battery decided to conk out and spent the night bipping away at me. In the end I took it out, (its an electric one so still works), the battery is just for back up.

Anyway must stir my stumps as got a few things to do this morning before hair appointment.

:j:j Well Done on reaching your NSD target, it was very high and you have done amazing it achieve it :j:j

Thanks BOF, it didn't happen though. :(

I drove into town, still not really sure whether I should be spending this money or not only to find the salon closed. No sign of life and no sign in the window. Rang the number and was told I should have received a phone call 2 weeks ago as they'd had to close due to refurbishments. Was quite cross, despite feeling slightly relieved that I wasn't now spending this money. It is the 2nd time this salon has done this to me and I'm wondering now whether to give them a 3rd chance. I loved my hair last time they did it and they gave me a great price, which they seem to be honouring each time I go, (well when they are not closed that is). ;)

I think I will give them another chance, but won't happen before my hols, and will make sure that next time I ring up the day before to check all is ok. Never had to do this before, pretty bizarre situation really. My hair doesn't desperately need doing and I only booked it because of my hols, so may not book it now for 6 weeks. :money:

So instead, I went to Mr T and purchased hair dye. As I am blondish at the moment, I purchased a similar blonde shade, hoping it just adds to my current highlights. :money:

Somehow some reduced iced slices jumped into my basket as well and I just had to eat them. Got OH a bar of chocolate from DGDs, I've got him a book on Hadrian's wall, a map of the area, (which he's already had), a shirt and some aftershave.

I spent the afternoon ironing things that have sat at the bottom of the basket for ages and now do not have a single item to iron in the house. :T

Rang the lady who's cottage we are borrowing from Friday and she told me if we want to go up tomorrow we can as the cottage is free. I'm gutted as I've booked a hotel in Leamington Spa for Thursday night and now didn't need to. I can't cancel it either as its non-refundable. Will speak to OH and see what he wants to do. Ideally we would move the hotel to Sat 11th and go to the cottage tomorrow/Thurs instead. I may try to get it moved, feigning ill-health, I'm still coughing well so wouldn't be too hard to do, and hope the hotel is sympathetic.

Still haven't decided how many NSD to go for next month.

Called into DS and paid deposit for his wedding. I only gave £250 in the end as they had £250 as well. Going to try to give them another £100 at the end of Aug and the rest at the end of Sept. Should just about do it and I'm quite pleased with myself for that.

DGD2 cried again when I left as she wanted to come with me, 2nd time this week I've felt like horrid Granny. Nice feeling that she wants to come with me though, does that make me an even worse Granny?

Anyway, trying to decide what to have for tea and then going to colour my hair. Not really hungry, something to do with iced slices I think. :D As for hair, fingers crossed it goes well.

    Granny x

 To hairdressers!! That is just RUDE!!!

:T For finding the money to help with DS wedding, am sure he will really appreciate it

Hope the hair went well and you had success with the hotel xx
  • Sorry to hear about the hairdressers granny. That's really rubbish, but I'm sure you will look fab with your new colour.

I have plenty of ironing if you want some of mine!! smiley-chores007.gif

  • What a shame about the hairdressers Granny but on the plus side, I bet you didn't spend as much even with the iced fingers.

I hope the hotel plays ball and allows you to move the room you've booked.

    Enjoy your holiday. :D

If only he would but he won't so no point me stressing over it. We do need some maintenance in the house though so going to get him convinced to sort those jobs out.

I don't remember why but when I was expecting DD I too had a craving for iced slices so my DM tried making them. She only had normal sugar so the confectioner's custard was gritty and she tried rolling pinning the sugar to squash the grains to make icing. Didn't work for some reason wow.gif

and she had to go and buy some.

When expecting DS I had a craving for bananas and he has never eaten one in his life. Put off them before he was even born
