Exhausting is how today was
After a night spent coughing and moving around due to random knee pain I woke early shattered and wishing it was home time
HE wasn't in this morning so I was able to focus on the job in hand and help colleague with job that's been plaguing her for a while. Went for lunch with her and another friend which was nice and not too pricey. I had chips - shush don't tell anyone especially not OH
HE was in the office when I got back and summoned me to a meeting to discuss work issues while I'm off. Went quite well with him agreeing to see my point of view on 2 issues instead of being stubborn. Then discussed outstanding decision, still not resolved and he's as good as told me it's not likely to be until after I come back from sick. I told him that wasn't good enough, that I had big boss' backing and would be speaking to HR. Upshot is I've just had to pay £30 for letter from my GP to back up my request. Well as he requested letter he can cover the cost. Also told me he's expecting me back at work in April - ha no way, I said May earliest and tbh I'm thinking August!!!
Just done my budget for next month and as long as I don't have any stupid spends I should stay in the black again. Really is a step forward in my road to solvency.
Weather is appalling today. OH has commandeered the TV for rugby match updates- weekend of macho shouting to look forward to.
I've gone for a lie down with hot teddy to ease knee pain

So glad to hear that your meeting with HIM was relatively painless, in the main because he chose to fight you (and we always knew he'd fight about something) on a topic that you had back-up from the BIG boss. Ha to HIM!What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
-
Hi Granny, :hello:
Don't really understand what went on at work with HIM, but it sounds like you put your point across and trumped HIS argument satisfactorily..?
Hope your knee is a bit more comfortable now - not long 'til Op-Day - and you're enjoying a relaxing weekend.0 -
Thanks all, I took a large dose of ibuprofen and my heated teddy to bed with me and after 48 hours the pain disappeared.
After a quiet weekend feeling a bit rough with yet another cold/chest infection I finally made a decision today. I went into work, completed the work that I thought was urgent and then rang my GP. With a course of antibiotics and a sick paper for 2 weeks I have now finished work until after my operation.
Colleagues were lovely, saying I will be missed and promising to come and visit when I'm up to it. Didn't see HIM as he was in another office today so sent him an email saying it may happen and then another saying it has which he'll get tomorrow when he's back in. Also sent big boss message and he's agreed to reimbursing me for GPs letter.
Got home to letter from hospital, pre op assessment next Tuesday and surgery a week Monday. Expected to be in for 3 nights.
Feeling so much better now i know I can spend the next 2 weeks relaxing before op rather than stressed over work.
Granny day was lovely yesterday as usual, although DGD2 was in a bad mood when she arrived. Snapped out of it pretty quickly though, although she was a little stroppy with OH. Cuddles from other 2 as well, although didn't see much of them.
Made a couple of op to target predator, bank tidies. Not going to do anymore though in case i need something later in the month re hospital or afterwards

Granny, that was a good decision on getting antibiotics and a sick note, because you need to get rid of the chest infection before your pre op assessment. I do hope you're feeling better this morning? Hugs xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

I just wish I could make an appointment with my GP as easily. I tried yesterday, telling them I had a water infection, and was told earliest appointment is Sunday. I tried at 8am this morning, as some appointments are released then, and was told to come in anytime and a nurse would dip my sample to check for infection and issue a prescription for antibiotics!!! Grrr. Why didn't they say that yesterday? What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Oh you poor thing. I had trouble getting an appointment too with the receptionist saying there were no appointments. I said it was urgent due to hospital and she tried to persuade me to come in this morning as their computers were down. I said I needed to speak to my GP and she rang me back an hour later saying he wanted to see me straight away. I was just so worried that if I didn't nip it in the bud straight away my op would be cancelled.
Hope you feel better soon ((((Satch))))
Oh it's so nice not having to get up for work this morning
