Thanks all, I was very glad to see the end of my working week this week, but managed to get it done. Today was a horrid day in work, with 2 female colleagues appearing to be in a b1tchy mood with me, not sure why.

Got home to a £10 M0rrison's voucher (courtesy of sun+ and a joining fee of £1) plus a cheque from DMIL for Christmas. A lovely end to the week, or so I thought

OH was still in work when I got home but both items were sitting on the table for me to see. I put the voucher in my bag. OH got home and immediately asked me where my voucher was, (we'd had one each) Apparently he'd decided he was going to use them both to buy a bottle of Whisky. He was not impressed when I said I was going to use mine to buy a nightie for hospital.

Next he moved on to the cheque, which apparently he has ear-marked for a new TV, (as we have to have something to show to DMIL for the money). I'm gutted as I was thinking how it could be used to offer a f&f settlement to the lowest 2 predators. That would be such a good way to finish this year and start the next. Sadly the cheque is in his name and therefore I have very little, (no) control over it. OH thinks because all the predators, bar 1, are on no interest, low payment plans, it doesn't matter how long it takes us to pay them and we "still need to live and enjoy ourselves" whilst paying off the monkey on our backs. I'm so agitated about this, despite still not feeling well, I'm struggling to get to sleep.

I'm trying to tell myself that it would be best tackled next week when he has a day off but it's not working. He tried to soften the blow by saying that DS etc could have our old tv but frankly I'm not impressed

anyway, I'm off to bed now. OH should be in work all day tomorrow, (well today actually) Let's hope it goes ahead as I don't think I could face the disappointment if not.

    Night all

    Hello Granny, :hello:

Sorry to hear your working week was a pain right up to close of play - you have my admiration for managing to keep going effectively through a bad head anyway.

Thought I'd written a post to you two or three days ago but obviously failed to press the 'go' button; about supplements pre op. Is Q10 part of your regime? If so perhaps get GP to check whether that one at least is safe (it doesn't have blood-thinning effect)?

Can't help wondering.. If MIL's cheque is so generous that it might cover two F&Fs, would it pay for your op if you go private? Personally I'd put health above finances or entertainment (have seen too many 'electives' cancelled/postponed over and again in the NHS).
    Just a thought.

Hope you managed to get a decent night's sleep, and can look forward to a peaceful day today (((hugs))). :)

Thanks Lucky, he most certainly isn't getting his hands on my voucher. I've also snaffled my spend £40 get £4 voucher back too. I'm going to buy a nice nightie and some slippers and something small for each of the DGC with it

Dear Robin, yes Q10 is part of my normal regime and both the hospital and DD (nutritionist) said to stop taking it prior to op. not sure why but will go back to DD and ask her what the risks of it are.

Early this year I joined a private health care scheme through work. It has a 6mth probationary period after which they will deal with anything including Pre existing conditions. My 6mths is up on 13th Dec! I can go to them next week, explain the situation and as long as I can show that waiting until March or beyond is detrimental to my health, they may operate instead. This has the added advantage of being done in a more local and certainly nicer hospital too.

As I'm still suffering with cold germs ATM even if the hospital called me next week I couldn't go. I'm holding out for after Christmas now and have decided to go back on my natural remedies for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully that will help.

The cheque from DMIL is more than enough to offer f&f to the 2 smallest debts of £2000, who may just accept 25% of their amount to be cleared now. Whilst that would only free up £20 per month, the mental affect it would have on me would be great. I asked OH for my half and he can use his half for TV but he refused, using the £20 argument and when will we have this money again! My objection is we do not need an expensive tv, I never get hold of the bl00dy remote anyway and there is nothing wrong with the 37" LCD one we have currently

Anyway I'm going to stir my stumps now and get some housework done whilst OH is in work this am. I half expect him to turn up at midday, despite the fact that this pm is his actual shift. Fingers crossed eh, I'm so annoyed with him I've got no great desire to see him ATM

Can you at least get cashback on the TV? T0pcashbac£ has earned me over £100 on things I was going to buy anyway. Worth a thought. I claim my cashback as Amzn vouchers as that boosts the amount paid out. It meant I got a new mobile phone for peanuts.

    And breathe....

Thanks Satch, going to keep chipping at him first. Cheque is post dated anyway, DMIL quirk so I have a bit of time to convince him and fingers crossed TV will be cheaper in the sales and I'll have enough left over. Should manage to get my hands on enough to pay smallest one f&f as its under £350 so hoping £100 would be accepted. It would just improve things mentally for me. Often considered not paying anyone else one month, just to get rid of this one 1 down 12 to go. The others are mostly over £3k each, some higher so it'll be a while before I'm in such a position again

Won't hurt to ask (will be interested in reply - always ready to learn more about something I also rely on ;)).

Aha - Granny; thought you were one of the other folk on MSE with B****** membership, but m' memory has been getting so bad of late, didn't want to mention it in case I was mistaken.. :o
Yes, give B a ring on the 13th; they're very helpful. Prove there's a sixteen week delay on the NHS and they'll swing into action. Which would have the added benefit of a definite date set for the op., so you'll know when you have to stop taking your supplements. :)

Must say all this full and final business is a complete mystery.. Good luck with persuading DH to let you use your xmas cash the way you want to.. ;)

Thanks Robin, that is what I'll do. I've been given a date mid March, which is just outside that 16 week window, so its imperative that I get on to it on 13th. I'm hoping it'll be done sooner as it'll definitely improve my quality of life afterwards. The date in March isn't suitable as its 10 days prior to my milestone birthday and we already have a holiday booked. Whilst this is not an active holiday, having an operation the week before will mean I won't be able to fly and that's without any complications.

I am on the cancellation list and really was hoping to be called by now but it looks as though its not going to happen before next week. In one way this is good as B* hospitals are much nicer.

As said before I'm now going back on my regime in an attempt to improve my health slightly as its unlikely any operation will be done before the new year. January would be a really good time for it to happen. So fingers crossed eh!

Have to a admit I've never tried f&f before but know some predators will accept 25% of the amount due just to get it sorted once and for all. It must cost them more than the £5 I pay them each month to process without the 6 monthly reviews. They then claim tax relief on the balance as a bad debt, so it benefits them further. Worth a try anyway if I get my hands on the cash. I think I'll write the letter anyway and see what happens. Once I know, I can work on OH more

Hope you have a good Sunday
