2 keys programmed in by a dealer = £160 ish.
They will erase old keys for you also, So if someone finds the old key they can get into the car but not drive it away.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
They aren't easy or cheap...but that's the idea....if they were easy and cheap car theft would rise somewhat!
If you've lost the whole thing I think you're going to have to swallow the charge.
Thank your lucky stars you haven't got an Alfa as - based on recent experience - you'll be looking at a few weeks off the road and a bill roughly the size of the GNP of Lithuania!
I have a mondeo1999 estate and only have the two button key. What options to i have to get a spare?. and concerning the alfa situation i have a 156 with two keys but i also used to own a 146 and had to scrap it when i was quoted £600 for a new master key!0 -
I would really appreciate some help. I washed my jeans, with my remote 2005 mondeo key in the pocket. i can no longer open the boot(especially) or any of the doors electronically. What can i do to fix my problem?
Thanks. x0 -
Dry it out, Fit a new battery, Then program it back to the car.
Ignition on and off 4 times within 6 seconds, A tone sounds. Then press unlock on the fob another tone sounds/ No tone then you need a new or used fob.
Swap the key and chip over from the old one to the new one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have a mk4 57 plate mondeo with keyless start however one of the fobs has suddenly stopped working and being quoted £150 from main dealer, thats £71 for a fob and £79 to reprogram it. I have the key code. Any idea how I can get this done any cheaper?0

Find a locksmith with the correct equipment. But be careful you done get one that just clones your current key.
A dealer can erase any old keys also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi, I think joeski mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I don't think anyone answered. My wife lost the remote key for my 2006 mondeo. I still had my remote key so I took it to a local key cutter who managed to cut and program a new non-remote key for about £50 (Which unlocks and starts the car but sets the alarm off when you unlock it)
Can I now buy a new remote from eBay, program this myself as I technically still have two keys, and swap the blank key tip with the one off my old remote?0 -
You do NOT need 2 keys to add a remote.
You need 2 keys to add more keys that will start the car. Your alarm goes off because you only have 20 seconds or so to switch the ignition on after opening the door.
Unless they plugged something into the cars ECU to code the extra key then you have a cloned key which is NOT the same as having 2 keys. Both of your keys will have the same code so you cannot add more keys.
Adding a remote is simple as long as you have one key. ignition on and off 4 times within 6 seconds a tone sounds, press a button on your remote and another tone sounds. igntition on and off exits. done.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I had the same issue with my 05 Mondeo.
Didn't bother in the end.
I couldn't find anybody at the time to sort it apart from Ford.
The parts bloke even said that many people hear the price and never order a key.0 -
I was picking a gasket up from a Ford dealership a little while back and there
was an old couple at the counter enquiring about a spare key for the B-Max which that had just bought from a car supermarket with only one key.
When he heard the price he nearly fainted. I thought he has not finished yet. It needs to be ordered and you have to book the car in for a session on the computer. which is ££ on top.
Parts guy suggested they go back to the car supermarket and chase them for the other key.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
