Hi, maybe you can help me then. I have a 99 Mondeo that my wifes 3 button remote has stopped working. You can open the doors, unlock etc but when you trun the key in the ignition it does nothing. My "Dumb" key works fine though. Any ideas? Seems like a immobilizer is coming on?0

Evening.... I've just picked up a Focus, with one key
This time it is the remote key BUT the close button is troublesome. I've found a key code card, but I think this is for the locking wheel nuts. (8 digits long).
but no key code.
So.. is my understanding right, I cant reprogramme the car myself as I only have one key,
Leaving me to
a) Get the uncut replacement remote key from ebay
b) Get this key cut to the original locally
c) Have Ford / similar reprogramme it to the car.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Will this work for a Ford Focus C-Max, 55 plate?0

I have lost all the keys and fob to my transit pick-up can you help?0

I think you will have to get the vehicle to a Ford dealer who can read the lock, supply and code the keys and relieve you of a couple of hundred quid0

So, let me get this straight. It is possible to cut and re-program a remote key (bought off Ebay) yourself without having to go to Ford. But this is only possible if you have 2 other keys (not necessarily remote) with the coloured data-chip thing in?
As I only have 1 other key, could I not get a duplicate of this made by someone substantially cheaper than Ford (easy enough for the chip to be duplicated?) and then purchase a remote key off Ebay and program this myself as I would then have 2 keys?
I realise its a drawn out way to save some money, but the thought of handing over £140 to Ford when they only supplied my 2 keys in the first place kinda gets my goat!

Hi MoneySavers
I have recently misplaced my main car key which contains a remote central locking key fob. This is for a Ford Mondeo estate (TDCi 52 plate) and Ford are quoting my £160 to replace the key (yes that 160!). Apparently this includes the cost of the key (£65+vat) and a fee for resetting the immobiliser codes (£75+vat).
I find this amount to be crazy. Therefore I have looked around on the internet and I eventually found this page http://www.remotekey.co.uk/cars/ford. However when I called the number they told me that Ford have stopped releasing some sort of "unlocking" codes and they can no longer create these keys without haveing the original (which Ive lost). I do have a spare key - but its a manual key and it doesnt activate the immobiliser when I lock the car.
Does anyone know if
a) if I can get a new Ford remote key for a 52 plate Mondeo for substantially less than £160?
or failing that
b) if Ford are allowed to prevent these codes from being released?
Thanks
Glostech
