  • Same here- it has just taken 40 odd days for our internet to be activated after a house move (when it should of taken 10) and all we got was rude staff telling us off whenever we phoned!

The connection is now slower than ever!

It was difficult getting a code, took two weeks, but at least I was still connected during that time. It turned out that their administration between departments was not communicated.

When you phone Orange you give them your tel no to search your record, you then request a MAC code and ask them to email it to you, should take 2-5 working days. When mine didn't appear I called them and called them and called them ......... They kept telling me that BT said I wasn't with Orange. In the end I phoned BT TAGS department who told me I was with Orange!!!

On calling back it turned out that the Care team who request codes were using my old telephone number from 4 years ago. Didn't think to check before as I was using my current number on the phone for them to bring up my record!!!

Once they had that correct I had my MAC code within 48 hours and BT are hoping to transfer me next Wednesday, 1 week later.

Give a MAC code a go and see what happens, it could actually be less stress than canceling and restarting?

Does anybody know if Waitrose is worth considering?
  • Hello,
I got my internet originally with Wanadoo which is now Orange. At the time my package was £17.99 and at 512K with a 2Gig limit. I never really thought about it too much in the past three years - just kept paying the £17.99. I did get some upgrade offers from them but ignored them.
Recently I went on to the web site to check their offers and essentially my package is now on at £14.99 - though it is called something different. I think what Orange have done is rather than reduce the price of the 512K package - they created a new package and don't tell you and you have to demand to be regraded on to it. A bit underhanded as it is exactly like my package. I have asked for the difference for the past 18 months - got the usual fob off letter.
How can I go about getting the money back? if possible. Should I just go ahead now and complain to OFCOM.

    Thanks.
    Sal.

Ofcom don't deal with individual complaints, you need to go through Otelo, and they will only get involved three months from the original complaint.
You need to exhaust Oranges complaints procedure.
I was on the same package as you but at 2mbps, anyway after a chat to their cancellation dept I got three free months.
I afraid you have fallen foul of the 'brand new customers only' way of doing business, Orange are only one of many.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I got a phonecall from Orange with the following offer:

I'm on a bb contract at £17.99 per months. For an extra £2, ie £19.99 per month they will give unlimited bb. Err... I said that I already had unlimited bb, she said no, that at the moment I was only downloading at 2MB.

"But the little ballon on my computer says 7.1mbp".

"Oh but that is the line, not what you can download. We can upgrade so that it will be much faster."

So, anyone out there with experience about this? Is this a great thing or a donkey?
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I would guess that the package that you are on at the moment is up to 8Mb speed and up to 2GB usage allowance. Do a speed test as suggested and also check how much bandwidth you actually use each month, to see if you need unlimited. see here for more info.
