JJ - Cornflowers make a good soothing eye bath!

Finally caught up with the thread, missed posting and reading but life got in the way, and I let it! Sadly I think that despite all the best intentions I've had an epic fail on the June grocery budget, no idea how much we've spent and Mr C has thrown lots of receipts out :( My own fault, I should have taken charge of them, lesson learnt for next month! I estimate that we have about £75 left until the end of the month but I could be miles out!

Onward and upward, on the plus side I got 2 x 1kg boxes of cherries from Mr T RRP £5 each for 55p each, these got turned into 3 x 1lb jars of jam which came out very well considering I made it up as I went along :) Got 2 big bags of carrots for 20p each and peeled, chopped and froze them for future meals. Some rather black bananas have been turned into banana bread half of which is now in the freezer and I have been using up the cupboard and freezer contents and making space!

Plus I've been doing lots of baking and meal making from scratch and the big hits so far are JJ's Herb Cheese Bread, Homemade Curried Beans, Cheats Potato Cakes and Lavender, White Choc & Strawberry Muffins :) Got big compliments from Mr C for the Chicken & Chorizo Spicy Pasta Bake I made as well :A I've made bread, scones, cake, curries, soups and some rather tasty teas. So part of what I set out to do this month has been achieved, even if I failed keeping an eye on what was spent!

Old me would have given up as it had gone wrong, but I'm going to draw a line under this month, keep reading and hopefully posting and learn from the mistakes made this month to make it work in July. Really annoyed at myself though because I really wanted this first month to work. Just have to keep trying :D

Jumblejacks – I hope your eye is better soon – it sounds very painful :(

I have been to do a big shop today - £85.38. Got loads though and do like how much more I seem to get from Ald* then MrT. Also glad the super6 were lots of yummy things :) I love cherries but normally too expensive so its nice to be able to get different fruit then normal aswell.

I have used AP before but I also ended up buying lots of things which just sat in the cupboard for ages so not really worth it…..or I brought loads and loads of snacky things….

Had to come out of lurking to ask if you're ok Cleggie? I can imagine you are feeling very insecure in your own home, but please please please dont let it be a reason to stay in, ask your local police if they do window and door alarms, i know when i was burgled as a student they gave us a 'panic alarm' set up directly to the local police station. Also talk to your neighbours and i am sure they will rally around and think about a neighbourhood watch scheme to prevent it in the future! Many hugs.

While i am not lurking, i have to admit i have a huge issue with amount of stock in my store cupboards and need a hefty kick up the a*se to start using it as i live on my own, and as i start a new job on monday, i must use some of it all up! (73tins, 42 jars of sauce 12kg of rice/pasta/noodles, 12 bottles UHT milk, 6bottles squash. . . .etc etc. . . )

Hope everything is ok for everyone else (esp Fozzie who has been in my prayers)

    Hi all

Sorry to hear about sore eyes and break ins :-(

Been shopping. Needed milk, yoghurt and cheese, and rubber gloves. Spent £30 haha. But I'd say £10 of that was my mums stuff, sure she'll pay me back tomorrow. Also got fruit pots and medicine for the tots (DS had preschool boosters today he is NOT impressed!) and some haribo sweeties to cheer him up.

I meant to buy mixed herbs as we a running out, but I do have parsley so not too worried. Will leave it on the list for next time. Think I'll do fish and veg, plus bread and butter for the kids tea, as we ate out at lunch (oh dear that was another £5 yikes) so they haven't had their 5 a day yet...

cleggie - so sorry to hear your news. It happened to us in September whilst we were sleeping upstairs. Such a horrible feeling. Sending ((((hugs)))) to you.

DH needs some beer for this evening as he is going round a friends house, so will pop to MrT after the school run. Also need dishwasher liquid, milk and some veg for the weekend. Will update spends later.
