    NSD here again.
Nearly at the end of June's GC. We had prawn curry, rice & pitta bread for dinner.
Bit of a disaster meal - no naan bread and rice was overcooked while waiting for Mr F to come home with the dog. Still - it was empty plates.

  • eek - Freezer emergency!

Opened it up to find half defrosted food. Lots unsavable but have salvaged 5 packets of blueberries currently being made into a compot.

Does anyone have a recipe for pea soup? I've got a short window in which to save a bag of frozen peas!

Still not sure what happened as the door was firmly closed but things had defrosted and started to freeze again. All the containers were frozen together with water which must have come from the thaw. What a nightmare!!

    Hi All

I've been reading but haven't had time to post until now...

Fozzie - I hope things start to get better soon
Jumblejack - I hope that your eye gets better
cleggie - I hope that they catch them! They could do DNA samples on their toilet products to prove who it was :p Sorry - the wrong time to joke - I hope that you're okay too
Finally thank you rosieben for getting all those lovely recipes into the archive - though it is becoming an impossible task to try them all out! :D
Oh - and if I have missed anyone else out, my thoughts are with you as well. :o

I've got a memory like a fish, but someone mentioned Jamies cream cracker meatballs are nice - I'm having them tomorrow - got everything I need, so if it's rainy I don't 'need' to leave the house if I don't want to. I'm doing it with pork mince because that's what I have in - hope it's nice :)

Tonight is LO cottage pie which my housemate cooked a biggish batch of yesterday. Really not sure what I'll have for lunch tomorrow - it will be a search the cupboard job so I can imagine some sort of concoction!

My Mr T delivery came yesterday - very pleased since there were no subsitutions - my housemate gave £5 to me because part of it was shared household items. In total I need to update £19.87 to the total - not bad considering it would have come to over £40 without the £20 off £40 spend voucher and my HM's contribution.

Hi been lurking since beginning of June,I decided to try and follow a tip I saw on superscrimpers, feed family of 4 for £50 a week! Impossible I screamed at the tv.So tried researching and found this thread and what do you know with all I have learned on here it is possible,so a huge thank you.

  • A lot of bad news going on in this thread at the moment. :( Good vibes for everyone, I hope things start to pick up soon. Still hoping for those who need it.

Dipndo - feed a family of 4 for £50 a week? Very interesting! Makes me think my goal is a bit lame, but you've got my brain ticking now about how low I could get my spending target. Hmmm. I won't get carried away - it's only our first month!

Not done too badly today. Weekly shop at Lidl, now that a lovely friend has started letting me and babba tag along in her car on her Friday shop. I try and tell her how much this means to me, being carless and only able to hobble around with one basket usually (can't even do trolleys when you have the buggy) - it makes the world of difference getting that lift!

So, after that waffle :D - spent £18.44 on this weeks f&v, cheese, yogs, milk etc. Felt that urge to buy something that wasn't on the list, but walked on by. :)

Lunch for me and baby was leftover beef curry/stew thing. Tea was a freezer selection of some scrag ends of frozen chips, chicken, onion rings. Nothing went together, but mmm, it was tasty!

Hugs to JJ and Cleggie what awful thing to happen, glad you weren't hurt though. And JJ hope your eyes are feeling better soon.

NSD here, mainly as I've not had a good day pain wise so couldn't get to the shops. Put together an AF order which I'll add once I get it. Hoping it'll come for friday as my "July" will begin then. £25 spent, although £5 was delivery charge. I was pretty good, got some bread mixes and whole meal bread flour, lots of Couscous, some cake mix and three energy drinks for OH that we're 99p. Can't stand them, but a treat for him. Hopefully that lot will last a long time. Didn't add all the tempting snarky things despite the h0bnob flapjacks wooing me :)

Treating ourselves to pizza tonight. Fish and veg was planned, but a breakdown in communication means I thought OH was going to see his dad so I didn't prepare for it. Thinking we'd have it tomorrow and I'd have a jacket potato or something tonight. But he's here and we've not bought takeaway for ages....so excited about it. Yep I do need to get out more!!

  • Apologies for not following the thread. I haven't got the time/energy right now. GC not doing great this month, we're up to £196.13 with a budget of £200. I'm yet to use to my grey cells on how we've managed to spend our budget so quickly. Especially when I've been using the 2nd purse!

I've been having quite a few NSDs and trying to make do with what we have but have stocked up on meat so we'll see how it goes till the end of the month.

I'm off to update sig and then plan menu for the next several days. This way I can make sure we use everything up and hopefully the final spend for June GC won't be too bad.

    Hope everyone is well.
