Hi guys.
Today will be a very low spend day, as i am too terrified of leaving the house after being burgled this morning
Jumblejack - My DH had an ulcer on his eye a while ago, and he was given assorted creams and drops at the eye hospital(the optician sent him straight there!) and he's been fine since it healed up. Do what the experts tell you and you'll be ok. Hope it's not too sore though, and DON'T RUB!!! Take care.
Fozziebear - DH has also had moles/patches removed from his back - all ok. I'm sure your DD will be fine. They're very good these days at catching things early.
Love 'n' hugs to all.happy_chick wrote: »eek - Freezer emergency!
Does anyone have a recipe for pea soup? I've got a short window in which to save a bag of frozen peas!
Chopped onion, veg stock, frozen peas, bit of potato and/or mint if you have any. Cook and blitz.
NSD for me as I've been at work all day. DH was sent to buy a Father's Day present for my Dad, as he just decided what he wants! (Ready meals for one. His Saturday treat as Mam has his 'diet' down to a T through the week) :rotfl:Best thing is DH just bought them and nothing else :T
Off to put icing on cakes. Chocolate for DD to take on Saturday evening, and small cakes to take to work tomorrow.2025 Fashion on the ration

Evening all
Just to add my (((hugs))) for JJ & Cleggie
Spent £1.50 in Mr A on carrots & cherries - yum yum. Forgot milk (doh!) so I'll have to get some tomorrow.
Dinner was pork stew-type-thing from the freezer with gnocchi, very nice. I really like having home made meals ready when I get in from work

Morning everyone, despite my best intentions, I'm afraid I've not managed to keep up with the thread again
Quick mentions to:
JJ - I used to get eye ulcers when I wore contact lenses and they were really painful so a big (((hug))) - thankfully they've cleared up since I stopped wearing my lenses (which I still miss but just not worth it) although I do still suffer from really dry eyes that I have to use drops in
Cleggie (((hugs)))
Maisie (new dog) arrived home last Sat:j so trying to get back into a routine and haven't got around to reading / posting much.
Bit of a panic yesterday as she went from being absolutely fine to really unwell in a couple of hours - rush trip to vet where her temperature was 106.1 def  (dog temp should be around 101 deg) so she was kept in for some treatment. Luckily temp came down a lot (but still on the high side) & I got her home last night & we've to go back again this morning so check it's not shot back up again.
Needless to say, I didn't sleep a wink in case she made a noise wanting out etc so am knackered - she's brought her favourite toy this morning but doesn't really have the energy to play with it for more than a couple of mins, has had some chicken & rice (poorly dog food!) and has now crashed out again - so she's still not really herself.
Grocery spend currently at £66.30 / £130 so not doing too bad - hoping to make some savings next month (stocking up month) as still have quite a lot of toiletries left:TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Opened it up to find half defrosted food. Lots unsavable but have salvaged 5 packets of blueberries currently being made into a compot.

Still not sure what happened as the door was firmly closed but things had defrosted and started to freeze again. All the containers were frozen together with water which must have come from the thaw. What a nightmare!!
Oh Nightmare, hugs, its so unfair when you are being frugal, not wasting etc and then something like this happens.Slimming World at target0 -
My total is now almost double my target:eek::eek:
I decided on Wednesday to try and start eating some white meat after being vegetarian for over 25 years. It is going to be a struggle as I don't like meat very much but I need to do this for the sake of my health.:( I feel like I have broken a secret code of veggies:( I also don't know how to buy and cook meat having being a veggie all my adult life. Today I am going to try having a slice of bacon for the first time since about 1986!
In some ways I think it will make my life so much easier being able to chuck stuff in the slow cooker and make 1 meal for the 3 of us instead of 1 for a meat eater and 1 for a vegetarian coeliac!
I only want to eat FR and/or organic meat but the veg box company I used to use delivers it and the prices are not that much to the FR TTD stuff I was looking at in Mr S last night. I looked and looked at the supermarket meat last night but came away without any as I just didn't have a clue what to buy and there wasnt much FR.
I have realised that this month I have only shopped at the big supermarkets and not Aldi where I normally shop and this has had a huge impact on my food bills. My month ends on Thursday and as we have our holiday, college fees and a debt to repay at the end of June I seriously need to get a grip on the GC or we won't be going on holiday at all!
Sorry for the big post but I just had to get off my chest about no longer being a veggie.:oSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi guys, thanks for all of the support re the burglary.
We have been considering a dog for a while now, but i always said no because of expense. Well, after the burglary i just think that the expense will be worth it for peace of mind at night.
It'll be a learning curve, but one we are happy with.
We are picking him up at 10am, and have managed to negotiate £75 off the asking price.0 -

Pooped today.
Only got up HALF AN HOUR AGO!!!
Last night was, ahem, a late one....;)
An MSE evening as free pizzas and a spot the meat chilli. Everyone bought desserts and drinks.
Not so MSE though as the kid's uncle brought his Kinect with him which went down a storm...
...the OH and the kids now want one:eek:
Oh well, it was fun and it gets the kids active. My youngest is now on it (uncle left it here as they were all still playing on it) learning dance moves :rotfl:
Lots of dishes were done last night, buy my oh my, where have all these other dishes come from?!!!!
My eye is still ridiculously sore and dilated. Glad the kids have a fab time last night nonetheless.
Cleggie, sounds like a dog is your best option. The price it costs to have one is a small price to pay for the love and companionship you get in return (and domestic security).
Also, remember that walks are so much more pleasant with a dog in tow and these are all FREE pastimes:j
Also, there is no food waste as dogs make good hoovers for unfinished dinners!
Edit:
No cooking today
Leftover chilli for dinner and loads of leftover cakes from last night too:j:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
