About to go over to the May thread to declare but thought I'd start here for June first. Went a wee bit over for May but not so much that I can't manage it. Actual budget is set at £225 but current target is £200 - once I've mastered that we'll look to reduce it further to add to the savings pot.

Biggest problem at the moment is the baking. OH has a really sweet tooth. While I was filling him up on shop-bought goodies, I was perfectly able to resist. Now I've started trying to bake my own, I feel that it is important that I sample each attempt. It is causing a few issues with the waistline!

Ps, thanks a million MrsC for the pm.
It is great having a herb guru on the thread for help and advice. Be prepared for advice requests in the not so distant future ;)

You're welcome JJ :D Not sure herb guru is accurate but I'm always happy to share what I know, so ask away :) Looking forward to seeing pics of the finished planter!

Just updated signature to include last nights £8.15 spend at Mr A, needed eggs, wrapping paper and some bits. Still need to pick up some fruit and spuds for the weekend, but guess I'm doing okay.

Baking cake, JJ's herby cheese bread and a rosemary foccacio this afternoon, then putting my feet up and having an afternoon off with a book because I'm worth it :)

Hope you don't mind me jumping onboard!

I really really want to cut my shopping bills and hope this might spurr me on. There are 5 of us (2 adults & 3 DS) and the dog and they bills look like I must surely be feeding 25 people!

I'm not a brand snob and don't think I buy unnecessarily but I guess I must do.

Starting my first month with a HUUUUGE budget of £350 but know it will still be a struggle as I went to Mr M's this morning and spent £72.64 already - that did include street party food and beer as a present. We are away until at least Tuesday but DH decides he wants something and just goes and gets it there and then along with goodness knows what else!

    Must try harder!!

    Huge bargain!!!

Aberdeen Angus burgers x2 Tesco finest are half price at £1.50
    1)Buy 2 packs totalling £3.
2)Use the £1 off a £3 spend of burgers in the latest Tesco price drop magazine makes then just £2.
3)Also a further 60p is being knocked off at the till as there is a promotion on Tesco finest goods.

Cost per pack is 70p instead of the original £3!!!!

It might be worth just getting for the meat and reshaping into balls/meat loaf/scotch eggs etc if you don't fancy top notch BBQ burgers:j

Afternoon everyone and thanks to all the lovely people who do this thread every month!

Was MIA for May - everything went wrong so early that I lost track - but back on the wagon now. Please can you put me down for £450 for June? Spent about £30 already today, but about half is for Jubilee family party on Sunday and I won't need to budget for Sunday lunch.

Read some of the thread, inspiring as always, and when I've finished I ought to be raring to go! :D

    A xo

Today is the 1st of June so it’s my first day of the challenge and I am (very sadly) excited.

I am hoping for a NSD today as we are having curry and rice for tea and I am resisting the urge to pop to the shops for accompaniments – better for the budget and the waistline.

Tomorrow I am sending DH to do the weekly shop as he sticks to the list and doesn’t get sidetracked.

    Have a nice evening.

Wowsa!! An AWFUL lot of posts have occured since I last checked lol This is a very fast board to keep up with !

So it's the first of June, and the start of my June Grocery Challenge ! Last week I meal planned for two weeks using the content of my cupboards, in order to reduce my June spend, so I can pay off my overdraft! (Thankfully very small amount ) I'd rather sort it out now before it spirals out of control!

Made homemade fish cakes last night, and had a salad from the garden! :) OH didn't like the fish cakes as I'd made them with salmon and they were a bit strong for him, (ended up making him frozen chicken pieces that he likes (rainy day food!) Left overs are frozen :)

Also wanted to say, lost 1lb today! I have spent an entire month trying to shift this 1lb, my weight has gone up and down by 2-3lbs every other week.

14lb weight loss so far :)

Dinner tonight: sausage casserole in the slow cooker, bulked out with porridge oats and lentils! Started to make some good use of my slowcooker :)
    Weightloss: 18lbs/28lbs (Start weight: 11st, Current 9st 10)

June already, can hardly believe it!

I was thinking today would be a NSD, was taken poorly the other day (actually passed out, highly embarrassing to wake up on the floor, but at least a nice ex army medic was holding my hand) :o so I havent been out to spend any money.

But I had forgotten I had placed a Tesco order, got a £15 off £60 from Tesco credit card and found various coupons, so out of £71.40 I actually paid £26.38 :j

And will get a refund of £3.96, ordered a bright raspberry bath towel......asked any substition be a bright colour or a dark colour......the sent white :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It's at least a couple of months since I had a home delivery so very pleased with my restraint, have the DD's, boyfriends and DGD here for big family birthday meal and Street Party, so treated myself to not having to lug shopping home balanced on DGS's buggy :D

Had greek yog and granola for brekkie.

LO lamb tangine with loads of veg for lunch.

Think DGS and I will share an individual steak pie and chips at teatime, to make a little more space in freezer.....only just managed to get the door shut just now
