    Hi everyone,;)

Have had some extra spends again over the last few days. Have up-dated my signature. I really need to buck up my ways, and try to keep to my budget in July. My freezer is practically empty, and still need to manage until July 4th. £257.95 so far, so not good. Still, this is my first grocery challenge, so I know I've got lots to learn. I'm hoping for a major improvement in July.:rotfl:

    Enjoy the fine weather,:T

    Regards,

    Afternoon all

Hugs to anyone that's unwell, or has sad things going on.

Katy - thinking of you. It can't be easy.

Well i am over budget AGAIN. By about £30. i really need to get a grip, i am not upping the budget again. But i am going to shop around a bit more. i just much prefer to go to one shop and get everything we need, as i don't like shopping in the evenings, and then hubby is home at the weekends and i don't see him in the week so don't want to spend my time traipsing around the SM.

Right thinking hat on... brand dropping (more than i do already)and YS shopping here i come. :D

Should be able to stay under budget in July as we are hoping to go away around the 22nd, so that'll be a weeks worth of shopping saved. But not that positive, ifthe only way of being under budget is by going away.

Off to the July thread. As new challenge/ budget starts today.

    Hi all,

Helped out on my DDs school trip to the Science Museum today. Exhuberant (sp?) year 5's, train and tube journeys - it's definitely wine o'clock now :rotfl:

Got myself organised this morning by putting on DR beef shin in the slow cooker with casserole veg. Best laid plans and all that....this turns out to be the hottest day of the year and we are eating casserole, mash and dumplings for tea! Oh well, clean plates all round :j

Had an unexpected spend after school as I realised we didn't have any potatoes for the mash or suet for the dumplings doh! Popped into C00p. They had packs of 2 elmwood pork loin for £1.25 rtc so I got all 3 packs. Have frozen them to concoct something with them at a later date.

Total for the month looks horrendous and I still need to get evaporated milk for Ms Lawson$ Express Mac n cheese for tomorrow. DS2 is off to cub camp and I need to feed him before doing battle on the m25 to get to East Grinstead. Lord help us

Next month I vow to be more organised and actually have a sufficient supply of store cupboard ingredients. Just ridiculous having to pop into the SM for one or two items - which always leads to other things making their way into my basket. Mantra for next month - MUST TRY HARDER!

  • I'm still here too :D - budget seems to be going pretty well this month (about time too!) and it seems as if the overspends on stocking up at the start of the year seem to be balancing out :j (was getting worried for a while there!:o).

I think we are all done now, ever so slightly under budget, which was a first month guess.

I have got myself a little notebook to keep track better next month. I think I've mainly stayed on plan through nsd's rather than finding bargains. I can't really go ys hunting as I have two toddlers, so evenings are for bedtime routine.

We have a plan from the dr to reintroduce dairy to my youngest. It's only day one and not looking good so far, but would be great if she could have regular milk eventually. Her oatmilk is £1.39 a ltr  and she goes through 3 or 4 a week, since I can't get calcium into her with cheese or yoghurt...

Anyway, that's us for June. Hopefully can shave a bit off for July, budget down £50.

See you all on the other thread.

I'm here in June til the bitter end, as I work calendar monthly.

NSD today, as I have just pulled a 12 hour shift. Who says teachers work part time, eh?!! It meant I couldn't go to the shops, so a saving there.

Mum came up to watch the concert I was helping in, and she brought up six bits of shortbread for us, so I shall put those towards tom's picnic lunch. It's sports day, and at our school, the parents get to have a picnic lunch with their children on the field, which is really nice. Of course, I have my two at school, so I'll be a mummy for a bit then! Got in loads of other picnicky stuff as part of my shop on Tues, as there was tonight and tom that needed it.

The basic plan for the weekend (it's a daddy weekend) is to spend the whole time tidying and cleaning. When mum came back for a cuppa, I found a bird and a mouse in the dining room, in a new place, so I want to clear the room as much as possible, and give it a good clean, as goodness only knows how long they've been there! And I don't know if it's my cat or the ginger tom I see in my garden who likes to try his luck getting in and bullying my cat...

Anyhoo, tidying, cleaning, and using up stuff, with the aim of running down stocks. In this aim, I seem to take one step forward and then two steps back... very frustrating!!

Diet still seems to be going well. Was going to treat myself to a chocolate bar this evening after a long day at work, but realised that I didn't actually want one! Quite proud of myself there, actually.

    Night all!
