Hi clarabella
I'm
In the same position from 27th not as long as you but have spoke to them today and nothings changed yet they've not even updated my higher estimated salary for this year!
I've been told not to ring back till after 11th if have
Not heard by then.
Frustrating as some people's are being updated. I can only think they are checking childcare etc but why not be honest with me!0 -

Thanks for reply, at least I am not the only person waiting. They could be checking childcare, I am always honest with the childcare costs so no worries there. I earned less than last year so thought maybe my payments would go up slightly but so far they are exactly the same. I would normally have some paperwork by now even if it was just the summary for last year.0 -
I am sure they told me that I couldn't ring back for 6 weeks after updating my earnings!0

They told me 27th April not to call till 11th June!
My friend too - but I do know a couple that have renewed and had new awards or back payments!
Last year took 5 days0 -
I just presume they are doing checks on certain people, if some people you know have had their awards sorted.0

What I do find strange is that if they are looking at our claims how none of us have been asked for more information. A couple off years ago I had to call another number to renew, and I recall many others did also, because apparently they wanted to help me get it right! It was right! Anyway I wonder if that's what's going on behind the scenes, a specialist team processing all high risk claims (hmrc might deem lots of things to be high risk i.e high value, single, childcare etc) to check for errors - that's going to take some time.
I don't mind them checking mine if thats what they are doing but I fail to see why they can't tell you. I can't see how they would check my child care though without asking me or the childminder and they have done neither! I'm single so perhaps they are checking to see if there's any evidence of someone else living here or maybe they are waiting for my employer to send in the end of year stuff so they can check my earnings ( employers have until 19th may).
I don't care what they are checking, I have been honest, I just wish they would hurry up!

I had my renewal pack arrive yesterday and I always call the same day other years but this year I have decided to wait until early July.
My son will be going to collage and he will know which collage and course he is doing by then, thought I could renew and give collage details together.
It will save me having to call them twice.0 -
Well folks, I am employed in a role (that I have returned to this week after being off sick) where I speak to many tax credit claimants and there is a general theme this year with tax credit renewals (and a lot of stressed parents), and it seems that the only ones that are waiting any length of time for their renewal to be processed are the ones that have Childcare on their claim.
Now I maybe wrong but it seems to be a coincidence that all the people who have spoken to me have childcare on their claim, and are worried about why it's taking so long to process - irrespective of how much they earn or how much they claim.
Some of them received letters at the same time, shortly before or after receiving their renewals pack, asking them to send in proof of their childcare costs but these people seem in the minority.

Thanks for your reply Lucee.
Maybe some of us still have letters to come. I think you are right they are checking child care maybe a brief call to the provider to check details then if there are discrepencies they are asking for the proof from us.
I have most of my invoices but no receipts at all but ive either paid online or given cheques so would have a lot of bank statements to go through but if it speeds up my renewal then fab!
Thanks for your info x0 -
What Ive always wondered is how they check the claim. Do they just go off your p60 and whatever is filed with HMRC? Also how do they check childcare costs too?
My renewals still havent come through the post yet either.0
