Agreed. We all make mistakes ... some more serious than others. Telling someone that they shoudl be banned isn't good advice whether you condone what happened or not.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
My oh my, the lynch mobs are out on this one. No one knows what time of day this was or how busy the roads were, so probably better to reserve judgement.
He'll probably get a short ban if its the first offence, but its worth seeking advice. Several years ago a friend got caught in a similar situation and got a 6 week ban, but I dont know how things have changed since."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -

I admit that I'm a serial speeder (late at night on motorways mainly, and always in accordance with conditions). However, I've never gone over the limit by 50+%

I had 6 points back in 1999, and got caught doing 107 on the M54 at 02:33 in the morning, dry clear conditions, could see for 2 miles ahead (so in my opinion NOT dangerous).
Went to court in Stoke, and they issued 6 points and £200 fine - this led to 12 points (automatic 6 month ban). My solicitor explained that I would lose my job as a result, and the court allowed me to keep my license with 12 points on, termed as "exceptional hardship".
So it's not always an instant ban (as people think) for over the ton.
Another good place to post speeding questions is on https://www.pistonheads.com, under the "Speed,Plod and the Law" forum.
Hope the judge is having a good day, he may get a short ban instead of points, known as an SDP, upto 56 days. This is sometimes better as you don't get points as well.......0 -
Seems like a lot of people are brainwashed by the governments bullsh*t that SPEED KILLS.
Inappropriate use of speed kills. 107 on a dry clear motorway is not inappropriate. But that's just my opinion (of course).
I see no problem doing 140 (on a track, off road, of course officer)......0 -

My Dad got caught doing 102mph A303 dual carriageway, This was his first speeding offence and hired a solicitor to help him.
He went to court and got £300 fine and 6 points.
He did have a letter from his company saying how vital he was to there company and would have to let him go if he could no longer travel etc.
Not that I condone speeding we have all done it and your lying if you say you havnt so give the guy a break as we are not all perfect.
Good luck*Don't let the b******s get you down*

I would have thought 107mph was rather difficult not to do in a Porsche and rather restrained (although inattention is no excuse) ,as others have pointed out we are not aware of the road conditions and this and the density of the traffic flow will all have a baring as will visability and experience. If you are a rich brat and 21 years old you best give you licence in now.
If you can show that you have a vast array of experience in all types of vehicles and conditions and volunteer to attend a speed awareness course and punish yourself but proving you have used public transport for a month for your error you may just escape with a £400 fine and 6 points.I would get a insurance quote for your car after having recieved a ban and see how much the increase is if it is huge use that money on a solicitor to represent you.
Use public transport to go to court if you drive and are then banned your have to get someone else to drive home for you or have it recovered ,cases like this always attract an officer around the corner waiting for you to drive while banned they are not called "black rats" for nothing.
Good luck0
