Mrs Ryan - in fairness, what could they do other than offer another room, which (hopefully) would be satisfactory? You shouldn't have been put in a filthy room, I agree, but they did try to rectify it. The only other option would have been for them to clean/repair with you in situ, and cleaning sprays may have worsened your friend's asthma. Couldn't you have moved your stuff and gone back for your friend when she awoke?
  • We booked to stay at the Leicester Central Travelodge in March as a birthday treat for myself as our son is at Uni in Leicester and had arranged to take us out for a meal for a birthday treat but unfortunately everybody was shipped out of this hotel because of a power cut which lasted for over 15 hours. We were offered another hotel at Thrussington or Markfield at 6.15pm (when we had a surprise meal booked for us at 8pm in Leicester City Centre) so we decided to go home (we had travelled up from Mablethorpe for my birthday) and our son had to cancel the meal. Travelodge took 10 days to refund the money to us and charged us a £1 for the "privilege" of not staying in their hotel due to the power cut!!! How does that work? You cannot avoid paying this £1 cancellation fee when you book so avoid all TRAVELODGE HOTELS like the plague!!

!!!!!!, Why trawl up an old thread?

You CAN avoid paying the £1 cancellation fee. Uncheck the box when ordering.

I have stayed in more than 10 Travelodges this year so far and had only 1 minor misdemeanor that I was suitably recompensed for.

Travelodge Saver rooms allow me to have many weekends away around the country so I think I will keep using them. Oh yes this weekend in Central London for £29.

  • Travelodge and Customer Services do not go hand in hand in my experience.
I've tried to raise a booking query with them following errors on their website two weeks ago which led to me needing to ammend a booking for a single night's stay and having to pay for 2.
All enquiries, conveniently for them, are conducted by email or letter there is no Customer Services number to call.
The last email I had from them in trying to resolve my query concluded:

"We are sorry that we have been unable to assist you on this occasion."

I take it from that that they think they have done their best!! Meanwhile I'm still trying to get some resolution to my concern and they are now ignoring my emails!!

Travelodge and Customer Services- an absolute anamoly!!
  • I wonder if anyone can help? I'm at the end of my tether with Travelodge. In May 2009 I booked six family rooms at the Travelodge (Bournemouth) for a stag do that i was organising. These were all booked online.

Unfortunately, on 1st September (just before the stag do) I had to cancel one of these rooms as someone had pulled out. Cancelling the room was simple, however, obtaining a refund since then has been a complete nightmare.

Travelodge will only refund the money to the account from which it was booked. if, like me, this account has been subsequently closed, they still go ahead and send the money to this account. Now, because of this I am unable to trace this money as the Travelodge say it was sent and that I should speak to my bank as it will be there somewhere, whereas my bank (HSBC) say that if the money was sent to a closed/cancelled account, it would simply be returned back. I have advised the Travelodge of this, but they still continue to say it was sent to my 'closed' account and that i should speak to my bank whereas my bank say that they have no record of it so really, I am in limbo and £150 out of pocket.

When I ring the helpline for the Travelodge (and I have done 5 or 6 times now) I am constantly told that someone will look into this for me and will call back. I have only had a call back once, and this was to tell me that i need to speak to my bank. I have also emailed them about 4 times (and received a TL reference number for each email sent) but as yet, no replies.

The customer service at Travelodge is shocking. All I want is for someone to take control and trace my money and let me have it back. It may well be that is is the HSBCs fault, but at the moment I am getting nowhere. All of this would not have happened if the Travelodge had a service whereas if you book a room and it needs to be cancelled, they refund the money via cheque or to an account which is open. I have written to the Sleepy Hollow address now asking for an urgent response, but I wont hold my breath. :o(
  • Found your threads when I was looking for Travelodge's Head Office address.

We stayed in their Sutton Scotney lodge and we had to ask for cups to be put into the room. Next we had to ask for another pillow, then we had to complain as there was mould growing in the bathroom, in the shower cubicle, around the taps on the sink and some on the floor, plus the toilet was black at the water line. We took photos to prove our point.

When my husaband went to complain, the lady at the desk 'phoned the manager - who would not speak to my husband - it became a three way conversation! The manager told her to move us rooms, but she said they were overbooked!!! Next, the manager said he would phone us on our mobile the next day (why he wouldn't speak there and then I don't know). Suffice to say we did not get a call.

I then emailed their customer services from their website. We got emails to say we would get a response in so many days, then two subsequent emails, about two weeks apart, saying that they were too busy with their sale to be able to respond to our complaint!!!

I emailed again, copying their email to me back to them, but still, after two weeks, no reply. I am now about to send a registered letter to their Head Office.

Lets hope I have some luck, will keep you informed

Travel lodge head office is in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Their phone number is 01844 358500
Customer services manager is called Carl Saterea, but is always to "busy" to take any calls.

I was getting nowhere on any of their 10p/min 0870 numbers, and had my problem of a £300 refund sorted promptly by what seemed to be the only polite and helpful person in the company.

Travelodge are DREADFUL. My poor oh used to stay in them sometimes when the hotel was booked by his last work place. They are often uncomfortable, often noisy, and rarely at a comfortable temperature. One night they didn't have a note of hs booking and did not honour the room, even tho the company had paid for it. Thankfully, he went somewhere else and had a good nights sleep.

Never, ever, use them ifyou can go somewhere else. The complaints are never seen too and I don't think he ever spoke to anyone in any position of power. The staff in the hotels are overworked, but usualy helpful up to a point. I see that they offer rooms at about £16 pernight, as the "ryan air " of hotels. I know that you get what you pay for, and that if you pay pennies don't expect pounds worth of service, but TL really arn't even worth the pennies.

  • I'm having a wrangle with Travelodge at the moment too. I went online to book a room for a visiting guest one evening for later that night. While online I used the back arrow key when I got to the payment section as I wanted to check the guests name had been spelt correctly. Everything looked fine so when I used the forward arrow to return to the payment section, I just entered my card details.

When I paid, it showed payment as double the amount. By using the back arrow key their online booking system had duplicated the order. Travelodge took over a week to respond to my email - and offered me vouchers to be used within 6 months instead of issuing a refund. I checked the website again and did a "dummy" run with another order (this time I didn't enter my card details) and sure enough the system duplicated the order once again. It does have a line at the top of the page, which shows the room has changed from 1 room to 2 rooms but since I wasn't expecting a duplication the first time around, I didn't look closely at it.

I think Travelodge obviously know about this issue with their online booking system. I emailed back to advise them that I used the search engine "Google Chrome" (different search engines can impact on the way a website works sometimes) but they seem to be ignoring this fact and obviously believe they are not at liberty to refund as the order was cancelled after 12 (well...of course it was, since it wasn't made until 8pm the night of the visit). It looks like I'm stuck with vouchers now, which is pretty poor and means a lean month for me financially this month. :-(
