Travelodge not responding to emails

I am really worried and my hubby is furious with me.
I had to book him a 1 night stay for tonight and by accident, I somehow booked 2 single rooms for last night at 9.45pm.
I immediately rang the hotel when I saw the invoice for £102 instead of £51 and she told me what I had done. She cancelled them both for me but now I am fearful of ever getting a refund and I can't afford to lose £102.
I have emailed customer services but no reply as yet and also rang the booking line but they couldn't do anything either.
Any ideas what I can do about it?Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
Me and my mate are both former receptionists at Premier Travel Inn and we always use Travelodge cos they're cheap... but reading about the Royal Scot, we usually stay at Farringdon just down the road and that's pretty grotty as well tbh - last time the shower didnt work and the bathroom was filthy. My mate had a massive asthma attack as we were coming in, so she had to lie down.
I went and tried to explain to the (non-English) receptionist but she said 'All we can do is move you rooms.' We cant move, I said. Mate is unwell and is lying down. Upon which she looked at the computer and said 'we can move you to another room.' What part of we arent moving do you not understand??? We gave up in the end. And we stayed at Gatwick Airport Travelodge and they knocked on the door of our room at 1 am and told us to stop talking and go to sleep - cheek! But what made it worse was the fact the air con (necessary as it was boiling and the windows were screwed shut - probably due to the noise of the planes) was so noisy it kept us awake the whole night!! But we stayed in one in Sunderland earlier this month that was lovely.

I'm a bit confused. What did the receptionist say? Did you get a cancellation reference?
Sounds like a genuine mistake which I am sure they will sort out.0 -

They did give me a cancellation reference but can't see what good it will do as you need to cancel by 4pm that day and I didn't book it until 9.30pm so I doubt it will qualify.
I am just so mad with myself as I never make stupid mistakes like that.Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
Ragtimeplayer - I think it may mean you have to cancel by 4pm on the day the room is booked for i.e by 4pm today. Does your husband have a room to stay in tonight?
Hope you get your money back.
Sorry, reading your post again do you mean that you booked two rooms for last night instead of tonight? I don't know if you would get a refund in that case.0 -

Non English or did she just have no idea what you're on about like I have?
Your mate went in (arrived??) and then lay down? Lay down where? on the floor or just went in to a random room? She said all she could do is move your room? What did you ask? To move room or not? Whats that got to do with asthma?
No, I'm lost. I've got no idea what exactly happend in this story. I doubt she was non-English, she just probably didn't have a clue what you were on about. Did you want the receptionist to cure her asthma?
Believe me, I bet she actually was English!0 -
Push it on the basis of the fact that it was a mistake and that you cancelled within minutes - thereby they were not deprived of the loss of a room which they would have been able to sell to someone else.0

Just to add my story about the Kings Cross Royal Scot. I stayed there in November last year with my 16 yr old daughter and friend as her birthday treat weekend, and it was the worst experience I have had with a hotel!
The room was awful, the window wouldnt shut so there was a 5 inch gap with the wind blowing through it all night. The rooms next door and across the corridor were occupied by about 10 lads on a night out, shouting, yelling, throwing up in the corridor, throwing food around the corridor, dragging each other up and down the floor outside our room, loud music etc. I wanted to phone down to complain to the manager but there was no phone in the room. Had to go down myself in the end, past all the rioting in the corridor to get the manager to come and tell them to shut up, which they did for about 5 minutes then they started again. By 4 am I had had enough and went down again to complain, was left sitting in the lobby for 45 minutes while the manager tried to sort it out, while many people came and went, then was told there were no other rooms available that we could stay in, other than all split up into seperate rooms, as if I would let my 16 yr old daughter stay in a room on her own! The manager then came up to my room to see if he could shut the window, which he couldnt as the frame was twisted so the window wouldnt slide fully, while he was trying to attempt it, the door to our oom was opened and a drunken man burst in, muttering something!
So all in all we had zero sleep, with the wind howling through the gap in the window, listening to the noise from next door and the road outside which seems to be on a main ambulance route as one went by every 2minutes. We had to wait until 2 pm the next day to get a new room, on our return from shopping we found a police van and 2 police cars parked outside the hotel, and were told that 20 people had locked themselves into a room and were having a party and refusing to come out! The police had to go in and break it up! What a nightmare indeed!
So if you can avoid the Royal Scot, I would definately say to do so!0 -

She was French. Last time I checked France isnt in England.
Ok. maybe I should have made it clearer.
We checked into the hotel and went up in the lift to our room. We had lugged our suitcases from Kings Cross station and so my mate was starting to become wheezy when we arrived. While we were in the lift, she had an asthma attack. So when we arrived in the room, she took her inhalers and lay down on the bed. I unpacked and while my mate was sleeping, I went for a shower. I discovered that the bathroom was filthy and the shower wasnt working. So I got dressed and went to reception. I told the receptionist the bathroom was filthy and the shower wasnt working.
She said there were no maintainance staff and that all she could do would be to move us to another room. That's not an option, I said. My friend is unwell and is asleep. She ignored this and said 'go and get your luggage and we will move you to another room.' Again, I said 'we dont want to move rooms, please just sort this shower out - there must be someone who could get it moving!' I gave up eventually.
That clear enough for you???*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

Yeah, so she's on her own but you think she's got a magic wond and can make people appear out of thin air.
Perhaps your lucky enough not to be on your own when you're working. This was obviously a case of you can't listen, can't understand, and blame others for it.0
