We have our registrat booked Faithless, we booked it last month, it's just the giving notice part we cannot do until a year before. It seems like it varies a lot depending on what area you are in? I think out home town only books a year before but we are getting married in the next one and they were happy to book us when I enquired back in May.

It's Friday the 13th today and I noticed that the next Friday the 13th will be my wedding day :j

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Ah, you scared me there jtr, I wondered if I'd misunderstood. I just rang Bristol registrar to check, they told me I couldn't book until 14 Sept this year. I've just out a reminder in my calendar to call then.

Do you think its a bit early to send out STD cards?
Im in an unusual position in that mums getting married in May 2013 therefore to save on time effort and cost we are getting our stationary done by the same person. However I am now wondering whether I should hold off actually sending mine until later in the year to give my friends less time to lose/forgot/eat them!
Have you guys sent yours out yet?

We sent our Save the Dates a couple of weeks ago, as soon as we'd got the date booked with the church and reception venue. At the end of the day, September may be the end of summer but it's still a popular holiday month, so just wanted to give people a heads up. Also, ours were magnets attached to a postcard (from Vistaprint), so people can just stick the magnet on their fridge and if they are making other plans it's not so hard to remember to check that, whereas with just a notecard or similar people might shove it away somewhere and forget where. Or maybe I am just cynical :rotfl:

My STDs are all stuck to my freezer at the moment! I got them made over a month ago with a free vista print magnet offer and will probably send them out at the end of this month.

If you can get them cheaper by doing them with your mum then get them now, you don't have to send them straight away if you don't want to :)

Yay! Have you sorted much out yet? I've booked Blaise for the ceremony and the reception's at Hilton Bradley Stoke, after they offered a great package on Groupon.
Apparently Hilton use a bridal shop in Henleaze think it's called 'Just so...' for the chair covers and sashes included in the package, so I'm planning on visiting them to have a look at their stuff. I'm still wondering whether to offer transport between the 2venues, was thinking of maybe a vintage bus?
  • I live a 3 min walk from Blaise, lovely place (my friend went there between her wedding and reception to have photos done... which were stunning!) We have booked the church, St Barnabus in Warmley and then Tracy Park Golf club in Wick. I am very luck because my cousin makes cakes, her dad is a photographer, my SIL is a hairdresser, her mum is a florist, our best man is supplying a car. My mum and dad got married in 2009, shortly before she passed away, so I am using her dress (a long A line from Monsoon) but having it made into a tea-length bespoke one of a kind dress all for me!!! I cannot wait!!!! Ive been to a few weddings at the hilton, its very nice x

Have had a very good wedding-weekend overall!

I had been struggling for a while to decide on my centrepieces, I knew I wanted some flowers on the table but I didn't just want floral centres and I also knew I wanted something that reflected us - big dilemma. Anyway, after some thinking and searching I have finally decided to have them themed on our holidays. It's going to be a bit hard to describe but I'll try.....

I have bought a 20cm bouquet vase and I am going to fill the base part with blue sand to represent the sea and cover the top with golden sand to make it look like an island, in the middle I am going to submerge an oasis with model palm trees in them, each one will have a flag representing the country (Maldives, Kenya & Cuba) and I am having some plaques made that will stick out from the top (like table numbers) which will say when we visited, on the back will be a picture of two of each location.

The vases will stand on square mirror plates and in each corner will be a mini bouquet (more on those in a sec!) and between each bouquet will be something else to represent that country...so the Maldives one will have painted wooden fish that we have seen (and I will be buying them when we go back in April!), Kenya will have some safari animals and Cuba will be mini bottles of Havana Club and cigars :rotfl:. I hope that makes some sense to someone?! I can visualise it perfectly but I know sometimes it's hard to see when it's not in your head!

I joined a local wedding facebook group where brides in the county buy and sell and get supplier quotes etc and during the week someone mentioned a floristry warehouse that sells loads of stuff and you don't need a trade account. Was bored after all the rain yesterday so took my daughter up there to have a look around and somehow managed to walk out without spending a fortune! They have EVERYTHING you might need (they are called Whittingtons and I recommend visiting if you have one nearby!). We were just looking for ideas really and my found some lovely mini terracotta pots. My daughter loved them and was desperate to make something for the wedding so we came up with the idea for the mini bouquets :D. She picked out some deep purple babys breath, some silvery/ivory leaves and some clear diamantes and has arranged them into little bunches which we have taped together and then wrapped in ribbon, couple of pictures below:

She has painted the little pots in Ivory and we are going to cover the base of the bouquets with purple sand. I was so proud of her, she is 11 and did almost all of it herself and was so determined! We loved them so much we will be making another 8 and she is now going to make me some little lolly pop bouquets, what a clever girl!
