I agree with the Sainsburys polos. My boys are wearing the ones I bought in September still although now they don't need jumpers I may have to get some new ones. I find I need at least 5 polos, 3 pairs of trousers and 3 school sweatshirts is enough as I do a midweek dark wash for uniforms. Next year is scary as I know I'll need an extra tie, rugby socks, athletics socks and jumpers as I know my son will lose them and they are so expensive. The school shop socks cost £5 a pair and they are a requirement as well as an £80 blazer I know he'll leave on the bus and school branded everything - even coat and scarf. I don't remember secondary being this expensive in my day. £600 for a uniform and £750 for a bus pass is making me want to cry.
  • How much uniform should I be looking to get for a girl?! I picked up two pinifores and Polo shirts in her size for 50p at a carboot, they look brand new.

Also where is the best place to get them fitted for shoes? my daughter has funny toes! Clarks is so expensive!
 Learning to live with BPD & DDNOS
:j I no longer skinny dip, I chunky dunk :j
:p After my op I'll be skinny dipping! :p

A clean polo every day as they get mucky at school. Three pinafores/skirts - one on, one being washed and one spare. Have you got a Brantano nearby for shoes? They are reasonable. Sometimes TK Maxx has school shoes. I got my son's at Javari last time. Geox school shoes are usually around £40 but I paid £13. I also buy shoes in the John Lewis sale - my boys like Geox trainers and they are flipping expensive so half price is great. I've found the Geox shoes and Hush Puppies from Brantano last longer than Clarks anyway.

Asda's school dresses are currently £4. and pretty decent quality.

Oos stock in the size I need in Navy online (my preferred choice), although have blue, am hoping there's some left in my local store. Such a bargain.

Asda do a deal before they go back - something like three items for £8 (can't quite remember). I know I got 3 twin packs of trousers for not much more than the price of one twin pack last year. Their school trousers are a great fit on my skinny fellas and they have adjustable waists. M&S ones fall down on them. They eventually go bobbly but it's been 9 months of wearing, washing and tumble drying so not bad going. Hope it's back this year.

I think I've bought my girl too much! Already have a boy at school so he has 5 polo shirts and 3 jumpers and trousers. They only wear formal shirts for occasions so he has 2 of those. For DD I bought 3 jumpers but thinking now she'll prob wear cardis over the 3 pinafores, 2 summer dresses, 1 skirt and 4 polo tops I've bought! It seems to be so much choice of uniform for girls I'm not sure what she will actually wear. I wasnt going to bother with summer dresses but seen loads of kids in them this week and she does look cute in it so i also bought matching gingham trimmed socks. :)

Although they are more expensive I like trousers from Next. They are around £7 a pair but last year my son was too broad for Asda ones and the plus fit ranges from BHS were huge so found the next plus fit to be better. Now he's slimmer so the standard are good on him and adjustable and they also do a skinny fit as well. maybe this year he'll fit the asda ones though so will look out for the deal.
