tesco and asda both do uniform deals soon, i'm holding out for those, i have twins so need quite abit aswell and they always come home covered in dinner so need a new one everyday. i would hold out for the deals, tesco are doing 5 for £10 at the mo including twin packs of trousers.

Last year tesco did the bundle for £15, so i got 2 coats, 2 pairs of shoes (which we acually didn't use for school cause they were naff) 6 polo shirts and 4 pairs of trousers for £30, then i got my kids grey shorts from tesco aswell cause they were the only place that did them so 2 packs at £8 each. Asda did 3 for £9 mix and match so i got 3 2 packs of trousers as they didn't have the right colours of other things i needed. After that all i needed was decent black trainers which i got from sports direct.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hi, Does anyone know the best time to be buying uniforms? I have two boys (8 and 9) who both tend to wear the same size, so none of that useful hand me downs and I have to buy a lot every year! They are always coming home covered in mud and ripped trousers. Really 10 pairs of trousers is a minimum for us :( They need Grey jumpers and white or yellow polos as well. I found really cute Grey V neck jumpers on Tesco at £3 but when I had the money to order they were gone and now they have something the same looking but its £8 each :O I suppose it will just have to be normal sweatshirts but nvm....

So should I buying soon-ish or waiting till the end and grabbing stuff in sales, I'm not sure whats best. Thanks :)

Wait till the beginning of the school holidays and buy them from the new ranges is what I do. In my experience there is very little left in the sales, and often the quality of the £4 pairs of trousers isn't any different from the £8 pairs of trousers reduced to £4 in the sale, but you have more choice. My son is 10, but he's in the 8-9 years Tesco £4 trousers, which I bought last summer, which have been great and lasted really well.

Dont do what I did last yr

I went into Asda at the mid of July and bought all my daughters uniform apart from PE kit and shoes. I bought 3 pairs of trousers and 2 skirts, 6 polo shirts (in a combination of red and white), 3 cardigans as well as pants, vests and socks. I also bought a school coat.

Well come September, the second week back and 2 of the trousers didnt fit anymore , daughter had a growth spurt as they fitted in July. They were new with tags on. Still had receipt. tried to take them back to the store, no good as receipt was out of date (30 days) and they had been reduced to a mere £2. And could I get the next size up? NO! out of stock online and in 4 stores near me. Not good.

To top it all off, someone stole my daughters coat at October half term at an event we went to and I had trouble getting her a replacement in her size.

What do I do? I dont want to wait a week before school starts as there will be no trousers left in my daughters size.

Also Im finding with Asda trousers that my daughter needs a bigger waist fitting but then the hips and length are all wrong... :(:(

I have that problem constantly only in reverse. My eldest especially is SOOOOO skinny that trousers fall off of him, the only ones that will fit him waist wise are like 5-6 / 6-7 and hes almost 10! needless to say they don't even cover his ankles.

    As per title here http://www.marksandspencer.com/School-Uniform-Kids/b/43629030?ie=UTF8&ie=UTF8?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=0Q89RPF0A59TWF0WZM80&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=1639785031&pf_rd_p=467421113&pf_rd_s=global-top-10

With value uniforms for just a fiver for pants and polo together, plus 20 percent off, at £4.00 you can't go wrong for the little ones http://www.marksandspencer.com/Value-Uniform-School-Uniform-Kids/b/227277031?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=1WDE0CG5CCYAD208M6WF&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=43629030&pf_rd_p=475115433&pf_rd_s=left-nav-2

It is 20 percent off the advertised price, so I would imagine is deducted at checkout. £25 qualifies for free delivery too :)

I would try other shops then. I dragged my poor 5year old son round at least 6 different shops as he's skinny to find trousers that looked the best on him. Next do slim fit and plus fit in the popular ones so now we can buy the correct age/length and they also fit at the waist too :) Now he's 8 we and a bit more solidly built we can get tesco trousers as a back up and they only need tightening a bit on the waist.

I find best time to get really good deals is either early in summer school holidays, or couple of weeks after they go back in September. Last year I was lucky enough to get the M&S 2 packs of black school trousers for £2, I bought 2 packs x 2 in ages 11,12,13 and 14 as he had just started secondary :) I find M&S trousers (and shirts) to be great, they are teflon coated so stains slide off, wash and tumble dry really well and the black trousers havent faded at all despite constantly being washed and tumble dried. Agree on the whiter shirt comment, M&S stayed really white, really nice quality and easy to wash/iron.

Next blazers really excellent, they are well lined (the expensive one I have to buy for my daughter which we have to buy from her school online shop, are 4 times the cost of the Next blazers yet the lining has gone into holes in all pockets), Next have zip up inner pocket which is good for keeping a phone, key fob etc safe, can machine wash, tumble dry and hang, they don't run or lose shape and absolutely no fading so would really recomment them.

I always bought school dresses from Next or M&S when my daughter was in primary and both were excellent, again no fading or loss of shape.

Bought TU white shirts for my son as well as M&S, in sale last July, they wash well and don't fade, so I was also impressed with them , but always worth watching M&S for deals as feel both theirs and Next's uniforms are the best quality.

I keep M&S uniform in my favourites and browse it regularly, I picked up v neck black jumpers for my son at £2 each at one stage last October, reduced form £10.
