Sometimes they are ok, othertimes not. I had a tin that was 2 months out of date and on opening the tin, the milk had a browny tinge and smelled rank. I used a tin that was 6 months out of date and there was nothing wrong with it.0

Use your own judgement and nose
Best before is just that - it probably tasted a bit better before that date, but if you're using them as an ingredient then provided the can hasn't degraded and spoilt the condensed milk then it'll be just fine0 -

Out of date tins may also help

Christmas cake keeps forever! And if you think about it, the ingredients are the same as traditional wedding cake, and the top tier of that always used to be kept for the first child's christening - theoretically at least 9 months later!
