Today is the only day I will be in this week as I'm off again for work tomorrow...

    Bank Holiday Monday

    Level One
    Hoover all high traffic areas
    S&S kitchen
    Level Two
    [STRIKE]S&S bathroom[/STRIKE] and toilets
    Pack suitcase for tomorrow
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Enjoy the BH with your family.[/STRIKE] Went out for lunch with a friend

Have done the laundry and the worst of the garden, and hoovered the kitchen, so I will see how much more of this I can get done before I have no choice but to pack!

ETA - bathroom has now had a reasonably deep clean... upstairs floors have been hoovered and washed. Correspondence is ongoing with an ex-colleague who I'm arranging to meet when I get to Germany tomorrow. No swimming pools at any of the hotels this time :( so will have to be disciplined and do yoga/pilates etc in my hotel room (must remember to get travel mat out of the car...)

Might try to summon up the energy to do the downstairs floors and loo... and maybe put the recycling out

Enjoy the BH with your family. - ongoing:D

    Afternoon everyone

Been to metrocentre and had lunch with DD before she met friends to go bowling - took me 45 mins to get out of car park:eek:

Carpet fitter has been to mam's to check her measurements - they were wrong! She had way too much so she's getting a £241 refund:j and my cousin and I have taken her old carpet to the tip.

I've bought myself a set of plastic storage boxes on wheels and my craft stuff thats in the corner of my bedroom is going in them later, which will mean that all my corners are empty.

DH is at work and kids are still out so mainly been flying on my own but wm x2, dw, floors swpt and 10 things shredded of course:cool:

    hope everyone is well

This post is flying based...in a way. I know a couple of you have a cleaner and I am wondering how much you pay and what they do. Although I enjoy flying the time I have to myself is getting less and it is only going to get less as time goes on. We are thinking of getting the basics done then I concentrate on decluttering and gardening and enjoying doing other things on my day off. I have also just hurt my back and so don't want to overdo things and need to up my exercise to try and strengthen it.

Due to the above I will be picking a room a day to tidy so it will be easier if we go ahead.

AJ - I have an occasional cleaner who comes when other clients cancel on her. I pay £12/hour, and in 4 hours she basically does the whole house - hoovers, washes floors, dusts, does the bathroom, kitchen and utility. If part of the house is out of bounds (which it often is, given the amount of work I've had done recently) she will clean windows (inside), empty kitchen/utlity drawers and cupboards and clean them out or empty and clean out bookcases.

Drawbacks - she is very short and often misses cobwebs above her head :D; she can never remember where things go, so if she takes stuff off a surface then they always go back differently. Then again, at least I know she has cleaned there! She also doesn't move the furniture, although if I'm here, we'll do that together.

If you have precious breakable stuff it is important to let them know that there are places you don't want cleaned/stuff you don't want moved. Or lock it in a cabinet.

I'm hoping she'll have a day free soon...

Have now sorted out arrangements for tomorrow... am being collected from the airport which is nice :)

Better get back to the hoovering downstairs... upstairs is so lovely and clean and uncluttered (well, apart from the spare room, which is still full of decorating stuff and boxes of books, and needs to be fit for human habitation by May 17th...) that it would be nice if downstairs could look the same.

Also need to book my car service and pay for my ironing. The former will have to be done tomorrow, but the latter could be done tonight. Oh... and I need to get a lump of worksurface out of the car so I can discuss with my cousin tomorrow whether he does the work in the utility room or I get the carpenter back to do it...

ETA - well done kazm... hopefully now the regular flying will be a bit easier and you can keep on top of things.

Just a quickie, what do you use for S&S? Do you have a cloth for each room?

I have a bathroom sponge I use for the basin and bath.

For the loo a square of old towel. It will have first been used to mop the floor after the clean then I leave it in the bathroom for the loo. It gets washed witht he towels and replaced weekly.

Anything used in the bathroom stays in there. I have another 'rough' cloth for the kitchen. These are all torn down towels and get washed.

    Hello all

    I have been busy.

I have a dilemma. DD doesn't want me to spend that much (£180) on a dress she'll wear once. She looked online but the sites, despite being .co.uk don't appear to be UK based and you pay by paypal and I can hear alrm bells ringing.
And PLEASE I NEED Flylady vibes this week, though, sadly, if they work I will not be here term time.

I went to London on Saturday to see The Jersey Boys and had lunch here
I now have personalised napkins :rotfl:

I have both gloves and cloths that I leave in the bathroom and loo, and chuck the cloths in the bowl of dirty cleaning cloths after they are used (and replace them with new ones). If I'm cleaning the whole room, I'll do the loo last, but always leave a cloth in there in case I need to do a quick clean up. The gloves used to clean the loo are never used in other rooms. I also have a microfibre sponge for the bath that stays in there in the hope that OH/my dad/other visitors will actually use it  I think only my mum know what it's for ;). I also have a couple of old toothbrushes in there.

Everywhere else, I carry around a selection of dishcloths, microfibre cloths, rags etc, and as they get too dirty I put them in the bowl in the utility room (which is where old mop heads go too). When I run out/the bowl is full I put them in on a 90 degree wash with a little washing powder, some soda crystals and vinegar and clean both them and the machine. I usually overdo the detergent and soda crystals and end up cleaning the floor as well :o

Downstairs floors done. Not thoroughly, but done...

I have also brought in the work surface and located my dynaband and travel yoga mat.

Time to sort out some food, then S&S the kitchen and utility so I can leave them clean. And then pack... :(
