I didn't just want to post the forms as I had a couple of questions relevant to the renewal, but was forced to post nevertheless as the helpline was always engaged. This morning I was given another number though, this one:
01355359007
and managed to get through straightaway. This number is for people living outside of the UK and not every adviser is prepared to take the call but most of them do and are very helpful. Hope this helps!
I also used this number and got through straight away, and wasn't informed that it was not a general number.
Thanks for posting0 -

186 calls so far. Mostly engaged tones but a lot of 5 minute talks followed by transferring and the engaged tone *sighs*Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

Calling 0845 number is just another way for the government to make MONEY from us! I have been right down to the options then im told "sorry we are unable to take your call"
may be you should try ringing 0345 3003900 local rate so in fact they are not making money much from you !!!0 -
Thanks for that number. Been ringing for days now and about to give up! Looked in here and got through straight away! Muchos Gracias ; )0

Thank you so much for this. I literally had ten minutes to go and was googling to try to work out what time the lines would close, when I came across this forum. I was just reading and saw your post. Got through on that number and the first guy wouldn't deal with me and hung up. The second guy was Mr Helpful himself and I renewed with 3 minutes to go. I have joined this forum just to say thank you as I was so happy with your tip.
Big thanks xxxxx0 -
I spent all day trying to get through, having tried and failed over the last few days. No luck at all. It's ridiculous, they need a far better system, especially as they seem to 'lose' things sent by snail mail.
It's very poor that you have to wade through 4.5mins of recorded message before getting cut off, that is a con. The hours should be longer and more people answering the calls as it's ALWAYS a nightmare contacting them. In May it was taking almost 30 minutes to get through to a human.
I cannot believe in this day and age that they cannot get an online facility set up for things like this.Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -
Okay, finally given up after more than 100 calls of having to listen to a stupid five minute recorded message, then always getting cut off
I did ring the number above but was told by a very adamant woman that I had only rang this number to short cut the system and was told I had to ring back on the helpline number.
I told her that I had being calling constantly since the 27th to speak to someone because I had a question to ask, but she said all I can do is keep ringing the helpline even after the deadline, and hopefully I might speak to someone before they terminate my award!
Okay I know it's maybe my fault for leaving it so late but I have tried to contact them before the deadline, and in fact I did contact one of them on the above number before the deadline, but she wouldn't take my information!
Surely they cant still stop my payments because they cant cope with the demand they created!
Why cant they just stagger the deadline dates so we all have a chance of getting through?
Anyway I have now had to post the form off late and pretty sure I have answered it with the wrong information0 -
I've tried the helpline several times and had the same old problem. Lots of menus to wade through then loads of irrelevant messages. Then after several minutes we're told 'We can't take your call at the moment, please call back ......beep.....!
If they can't take the call why not say so at the outset or just make the line engaged. It would save us time, money and frustration.
The tax office has this condescending manner of calling us 'customers' (like we've got a choice of where we'll pay our taxes, yeah!). Well it's a pity we're not treated like one. If companies treated their customers like this they'd be out of business in no time.0
