    Specs for PCs:
I normally wear varifocals, but on the desktop 17 inch monitor I have bought a pair of reading glasses so I can see print at arm's length. Works a treat.

    Oh! you mean:
    Desktop:
Local computer shop 1.2 Ghz Duron
    1.5 GB Ram
    ATI 9250 graphics
    On-board sound
    2 x HDD
    2 x Optical Drives
    Windows XP
Still fast enough for general surfing and running MS office
And playing Thief and System Shock 2 fan missions

    Laptop
    Compaq Presario CQ-61 330sa
The ATI graphics card is good but is power hungry and the battery will only last an hour or so, not a problem as it's usually on mains power.
Used for everything else that needs some oomph

    Damn I was hoping to scrape the bottom of the barrel;

    P4 Prescott LGA775 @3ghz
    3ghz ddr2 800 (2x1gb/2x512mb not in dual chan mode)
    generic intel mobo
    geforce gts 250 512mb
    soundblaster audigy 16 (yeah boys!)
    2x 160gb sata HDD
    1x DVDRW-blah-blah sata
    1x 320gh ide HDD
    el-cheapo 350watt psu

More biased toward cheap to maintain storage than gaming or high-end graphics/video.
My only concession to my inner geekiness is that I dream of running the above (and all future builds) in the alu Powermac G5 case sitting behind me right now (once I've worked out what to do with the G5's gubbins).
