Service packs will not help resolve non-developed drivers... If the drivers arent there microsoft cant do anything..cornwallis wrote:I was expecting an xp plus product i.e.it would do everything xp is capable of and communicate with plus an extra tier of improvement.I have assumed and I am sure that everybody is aware of the danger of doing that.So its back to xp pro for me for the forseeable future.I have returned my computer as downgrading it to xp meant that some of my specified components such as tv tuners were not available ,which was unacceptable.Thank you for all your help
Vista IS an XP plus product... It will do everything XP will and more but due to bad support from other hardware manufacturers it will take longer. As for the modem problem it seems you didnt look or try hard to resolve it yourself as others (including my in laws) have the same modem and have managed to get it up and running no problem. There are tons of modems/routers that dont have Vista drivers but will work with a little creative thinking (installing drivers only and not the utility works for my Netgear stuff)0 -
Did I write that service packs will fix driver problems??No I didn't.I did spend a lot of time trying to fix the problems and I find your useless post quite insulting.0

Hey, easy. He was just pointing out, that in relation to your driver problem, a service pack won't fix that sort of problem.
Also I don't mean to sound rude, but from this thread you have shown little effort in trying to solve the problem, but instead have just posted on numerous occasions your dislike for Vista.
Posting the sites, or ideas you tried. The results, any other thoughts you have etc... is a good way forward. Otherwise such a thread is better suited for the "Vent, Bent and Heaven Sent" forum."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
The computer has been returned apparently, so end of the thread.. hopefullyEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

You have come on here and posted 13 times in the same thread wanting to start a campaign against Dell and Tiscali.. You did not post for help on this board and did not post anything you tried apart from Phoning and looking on the internet..
Heres a link to compatability issues with the 330 and a link to drivers that work. This is the ones I used to get my family members PC online.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedTouch_330
As for the HP printer.. I have a HP PSC 1350 AIO and the Vista drivers work fine including scan function.. The XP drivers from the HP site also work, its just the software that has compatability problems but with some help here there are free alternatives.
Users here like albertross, wolfman and superscraper could probably solve any PC issue you have but you have come on here TODAY and not asked for help but packed up your PC and sent it back while trying to get us to sympathise with your problems.
No doubt you will see fit to reply to this with some smarmy comment but its the last I will be posting so feel free to vent your Microsoft,Tiscali,Dell anger on me.0 -
I have spent a lot of time and money trying to sort out a problem not of my making and being very disappointed with the vendors of the product and some of the responses here.I thought this site was about defending consumer rights not a meeting place for microsoft acolytes.I have repeatedly asked how to remove Vista yet nobody here seems qualified to be able to answer my question. My computer has been returned as Dell cannot provide a tv tuner with an xp package.
When I purchase a product I expect service not have to fix all the problems by spending hours surfing and tweaking software.I have more important things to do with my life. Again I thank those who provided links and assistance.0 -

Anyone who thinks they can return Vista, is mistaken as if the software is activated, it belongs to you now and the license isnt returnable or transferrable.
I very much doubt any PC shop would let you return it.
Most game shops won't let you return a game that isnt compatible with your PC.
its the same for your O/S.
if you've used it and its activated, its yours and so are its incompatibilities with your equipment...for now.
You could always go get a new or go back to XP if you've upgraded.
But as has been said, its up to the consumer to check compatability with existing hard/software and ISP before purchasing.
I doubt any retailer will refund or exchange for something else, because your game/software/sound/graphics/ISP etc isnt fully Vista compatible yet.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -

Same as Gremlin, I checked with Orange and just ran the orignal Wanadoo modem install cd designed for XP and all works fine on Vista

As I've mentioned, I do feel for your situation and can understand your frustration. This site is about supporting your consumer rights, but in this case, it looks like you don't have many.
You purchased a pc, with Vista and expect a product you separately purchased to work with it. If the whole thing had been a package, then it wouldn't be a problem. The fact that you already had the modem changes that.
Remember this is a technical forum for solving technical problems. You've basically created a thread flaming about Vista, without providing any factual information, or proof that you've tried to overcome the problem. It's bound to get you very little help.cornwallis wrote:I have repeatedly asked how to remove Vista yet nobody here seems qualified to be able to answer my question.
It's not until post 25, where you say none of us have told you if you can remove Vista. Yet if you look before that you never actually asked that question in the first place."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
