I've had enough of the scaremongering now because I always predicted a recession.
So I suppose you have to ask was it scaremongering or am I just brilliant at economics?
Seeing as myself and a few others on here managed to predict what the CBI, OBR and the BoE amongst others failed to predict.0 -

'I always predicted a recession' - a bit like a stopped clock could 'always' predict 11:35?
Out of interest, to whom did you predict this recession?0 -

Racking up tens of thousands of posts, checking who thanks who, desperately trying to 'win' the argument, you know who I'm talking about.0 -
Definitely good advice

There's plenty of evidence that we aren't actually in recession and the ONS' first estimate was simply too negative. But it'll likely be 3 years before we know the truth about Q4 2011 and Q1 2012, in which time it'll be irrelevant anyway.
Best just to focus on your own circumstances. Buy what you can afford, and save wherever possible. And you should do this whether in recession or boom.0 -
We are screwed. Think anything different and you should be sectioned.
Question is how screwed.0 -

I have said all along that we would go back into recession, you can ask the thousands of people who frequent this forum.
I'm sure julieq will back me up on this one although she has been a bit conspicuous by her absence since the release of the first quarters GDP figures.
Ohhh, go back into recession. I'm not sure that's what you originally said, but let's go with it. It's a lot easier to predict a double dip when the economy is bouncing along the bottom, isn't it? Do you really believe that it was an amazing achievement?0 -

Did you predict it then?0 -
This is very true but you did say the recession would happen because of high oil prices over $130/$120 if I remember rightly. What's the oil price now?shortchanged wrote: »I have said all along that we would go back into recession, you can ask the thousands of people who frequent this forum.
