  • This the first I've heard of the demise of the CWclient and I've been using it for about 3 years.

I've got Kevin's spreadsheet (thanks) but I cannot afford Excel. I have tried the Novell Edition of OpenOffice and applied the options to allow macros to work but that seems to crash.

Has anyone got OpenOffice to work?

Does anyone have a money saving way of using the spreadsheet via a modem?

Yes, forget the modem and manually enter the codes instead (it'll take 10-15 minutes or so at first but hardly any time later on if/when alterations are needed).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Hi. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, but anyone know where I can buy a v4 Orchid dialler? I know the present ones don't have clocks, so I need to find a second hand one from somewhere. Other than Fleabay does anyone know of anywhere??? Thanks
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.
  • I haven't used my dailer for a good while and been happy with the Heinz Program, I tried to use the CW client today and it didnt work and so i found out about it being dead :(

Its a shame they couldnt adapt there software to use a VoIP system and thus would not need ISDN 30 :(

The Spread Sheet link is dead now and so i find my self needing to manually fix the time and manually enter all my new coding.

I've just signed up for the post offices phone and broadband deal so mobile are included on the weekend.

I loved the modem idea with a program..... but its beyong me and manually seems better than nothing.

Any help would be great thanks :)

The link to Kevin Lawry's Excel spreadsheet is working just fine and is a good starting point for anyone wanting to program a V4 (regardless of whether they intend to use a modem or not).

Using the spreadsheet will enable you to input your specific Carrier and Routing needs and will produce the strings you need to enter (manually in your case) for each.

    Hi I've a question I had been meaning to ask for months! (I don't think I asked it already - old age is a !!!!!!!! :o ).

We are on BT Weekends and Evenings with 18185 as our wasit called (old age again:mad: ) we have a Orchid V4+ and the last Orchid Heinz plan in it!

My query is to with dialling 0845 and 0871 numbers. We don't do that very often, but I saw on our 18185 bill a charge for an evening 0845 call which I expected to be Free via BT, I'm sure I worked it out correctly, but this isn't what I expected!!

Is the standard Heinz plan wrong for our situation, regarding 0845's?

And have you seen this story on Martin's website regards BT changing the "6pm Evening time!"

    Thanks, Speedee :)

A quick check of the Heinz program shows it routes 0845 and 0871 calls via BT at all times.

Kevin Lawry's spreadsheet follows that convention too (there is some unnecessary duplication of effort in the Routing Rules there but Routing Rule 12 is the main mover in that regard).

    Thanks Heinz

I did have a look at your two "HERE" 6 Steps and saw the latest setup. I just had another look around the forum too. I will have to do a test I think, just to see what I was on about!!
I forgot to check the Heinz Program post so thanks for reminding me! If I have a problem "I'll be back" as certain actor said!

Hi, I have only had a V4+ for a couple of weeks or so, and noticed something this evening I thought I was imagining at the weekend!

I was stood near the unit and it went click and the LED came on for a second or two then it went click again and the LED went off again (I thought I heard it click at the weekend, when the house was quiet, and I was at the other end of the lounge !). No one in the house was using a phone or lifting a receiver.

Have you noticed your V4+ doing this ever - is it normal. I'm on the Heinz Programme.

    Thanks, Speedee :)

(I used to have some V4's - these click very slightly when you lift the phone off the hook, but not as loud as the V4+ - this is due (I think) to the PSU that powers the V4+ giving the relay, that I assume is clicking, more power than the line alone. If you turn off or unplug the PSU of a V4+ you get the quieter click, like a V4 does.

I never got a reply to this post! I still get the LED coming on every now and again; Do you? :undecided
