  • Trying to catch up here, both with this thread, and with my Christmas prep :D

First of all - a massive hug and good wishes to those of you who are having a tough time at the moment :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:I don't want to miss anyone out so sending a big collective hug. Some of your experiences are ringing very true with me, please hang in there all of you :)

Had a small brain fart on the wrapping paper front - I normally buy all my cards, crackers and wrapping paper in January. Found the cards and the crackers a few weeks ago and presumed the wrapping paper was in the loft, so have been gleefully marching past all the wrapping paper in the shops recently thinking "ooh, got mine all half price in January". Ummm...oopsy...Mr Buffy has scoured the loft and cannot find a single reel...so unless we have had mice in the loft and they have eaten every single scrap of paper AND the cardboard tubes, it would seem that I didn't buy any...I seem to have loads of gift tags though weirdly...

Any thoughts please on the rolls of wrapping paper in Lidl that are 99p for 5 metres (I think) I hate paying a fortune for wrapping paper, but at the same time I want wrapping paper that doesn't tear if you as much as look at it...

The Christmas cake is made and ready for [STRIKE]soaking[/STRIKE] feeding with brandy. I usually end up icing it in a flap on Christmas Eve but want to do it much earlier this year, but have no idea how soon is too soon (in terms of the icing drying out) I normally use ready to roll icing (my mum used to do royal icing each year which was so hard and pointy that it used to give me mouth ulcers, so I have always used the ready roll stuff :D)

Mr Buffy drew up the Christmas card list last night and typed out all the addresses for the labels. I cannot do the list anymore as every year without fail there will be someone in my address book who has died that year and it always upsets me to remember they have gone :(

I need to pull my finger out and make the labels for our advent calendar bags. We have most of the bits for each other's calendars now, plus the bags and the baskets, just need to do the labels.

Our Christmas season starts properly next Saturday. Weather permitting we will be off to Audley End House for their Victorian Christmas Event :xmassmile Being a pair of nutters we are planning on taking a Christmassy picnic with us - Turkey and stuffing sandwiches, mince pies and some mulled wine in a Thermos flask. I bought a lovely picnic hamper earlier this year and I am absolutely determined to get my money's worth out of it :D No doubt we will be zipping down the M11 to get there with Slade blaring out...I have no shame...

Hi everyone! I haven't been in here for weeks but just wanted to pop in to say I hope your Christmas plans are coming together and I hope you're all well :) just a month to go now! :D
  • Am sewing the outline of my name on my stocking today, good job my name is only 4 letters as I've only done two and I'm getting annoyed at it. Gonna finish the outline and do the filling in on other days. I could finish it today but I started reading the 12 days of Christmas last night and I can hear my Kindle calling me to read some more, and who am I to resist? :D

I'm off to Edinburgh this weekend with my other half and niece. We are going to the Dungeons and having lunch, does anyone know if they have any Christmas markets there ?

Ohh, have fun :T Im just outside Edinburgh. The winter wonderland / German market will be in full swing.

My craft fayre prep is coming along nicely, I have a good pile of stash ready, will just add to the quantity over the next week. DH has suggested I put whatever money I make towards a Kindle Fire HD which I have been hoping for, so hopefully I can sell lots of stuff :D

Really want to go to Asda, their Christmas range sounds really good, but it will be Sat before we can get there.

    29 SLEEPS!!!

We are going in about a weeks time, my 4 year old is looking forward to going :D I'll be glad I'm not heavily pregnant this year!

    The food is yummy :rotfl:

we usually go for the garlic bread yum yum.

I am hoping to pick up a little tree decoration that my son can put on the tree this year.
Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)
  • Had quiet a few parcels arrive today, managed to hide them away until later. Had a big grocery shop arrive as well and looking forward to tomorrow where I will be making chilli, currys, cottage pies etc. I have a new chest freezer so I am making lots of individual meals for myself, DS and my parents. It looks like the weather is going to turn so I thought at least I can pop the meals in the oven and we can take some to my parents when needed. Got three tins of the c@dburys biscuits for ten pounds instead of seven pounds each, so a very good offer if anyone in close to an @sda. Also hope to get things ready for our trees to go up at the weekend too, cannot believe thanks to this thread I am so organised and will be super organised next year!

Ooh Buffy, a Christmassy picnic sounds fab!

Bought a bottle of Bailrys for my sis and a bottle of Morgans for BIL so apart from a little extra for my dad, some bits for Hubby, a carvery voucher for bessie 2 and summat for bessie 1 (still undecided) I'm all sorted on the pressies front.

Just got a few xmas cards that need a bit of glitz sticking on them tonight and written out then all my cards are done too.

Started on the food shopping. SO far just got 6 bottles of our fave wine (whilst it was on offer) chutney and biscuits for cheese (no cheese or the biscuits won't see xmas!) and xmas pud. Eating up all I can from the freezer to make room for frozen food. I don't want to have to buy any food that weekend before Christmas apart from fresh veg/fruit from local grocers, no crowded SMs for me hopefully.

Buffy if you add glycerin to royal icing it will be much softer.
