Morning, I really miss this thread, I've not been on for a couple of weeks. I've lost all Christmas spirit.

Sadly I lost my beautiful Mum last Thursday. She had cancer and had battled for over a year, but we thought she would see Christmas and my sister new baby due Feb. but this last bit defeated her :(
She is now pain free, but I miss her so much. We are about to drive over 200miles for her funeral tomorrow.
Not sure if you remember, but my Grampa also died just a month ago. I feel for my poor Dad, losing his Dad and wife within a month :(

My Mum loved Christmas and gave me and my sisters fantastic Christmas memories and traditions. I want to pass these on to my own kids. So I know I'll get my Christmas spirit back, as that's what she would of wanted.
I'll be back on once I get through this hard time.

This thread always cheers me up x

    I'm really sorry :(
I hope your mom is pain free now, such a shame she won't meet her grandchild :(

well that helps some..stepdd's now are not coming til boxing day. their mother is being a ***** again & basically told dh by text they dont want to come & if it wasnt for the presents they wouldnt bother coming at all. dh rang his dd (15yo) and she just said "were not bothered dad, cant you just drop our presents here so we can have them xmas day". Dh is understandably very upset, & as he's working in scotland again all week i cant even comfort him! i know it sounds selfish & mean, but in a way i wish he would agree to NOT give them presents, they should come cos he's their dad, not cos we spend money on them! its such a tough situation, i want to support dh, but i really also want to teach those kids that their dad is more than just a money-machine!! grrrrr. sorry, rant over

Surely a 15 year old can wait till Boxing Day if she's not that 'bothered' and have her presents when she's going home and not before

    Sending ((((hugs))))

  • im so sorry to hear about your mum nic, but be thankful that she is not in pain anymore, and i'm sure she will be with you in spirit at Christmas. It will be very hard for you and your family this year, but i'm sure they will all help you though it, as will we :grouphug:

I also wanted to say a big thank you for everyone who wished me good thoughts, it really does cheer you up knowing there is a lovely lot of people on this thread spreading the festive cheer and always having lovely ideas and things to say, no matter who people are. :T

    Afternoon all.

chickywiggle Looked at the cupcake boxes for the mugs, but they're far too small. However, Apparently Poundland have cellophane bags in with gold stars and a ribbon to tie it. So I'm going to see if I can hunt those down, add a cardboard base to hold the mug steady, and add some shredded tissue paper to pretty it up on the inside. Just hope I can find them now! I know my friend at the cake shop said she'd brought out the supply in the one store, so she'll sell me one of her stock if I can't find them for myself. lol.

Nic, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mom the day the Berlin wall came down. It was so hard, what with the festive season fast approaching, but, like your mom; my mom was totally into Christmas too, and I was determined to do her proud. It wasn't the same without her, but we did our best, and I like to think she was there with us, and is still when we celebrate it. Thinking of you. xxx
