My dd2 never asked for a thing last year (bare in mind we were buying for 7 children then) so i asked her for a few ideas as i couldn't think of any.. she wrote a list (2 pages long!) but the whole total of it came to about £25.. it was things like cheese balls, makeup (which you can get in poundland mum) hair pretties etc.. nothing major just nice girlie little bits... I had a £300 budget for her ... So it was magical see her open up her pressies and getting everything on her list (even though she was 12 lol) and i got her a ipod touch to go with it.. the rest of the budget she had in cash the next day for her birthday.. which she was shocked about too lol.
She has done the same this year too, getting a list in earlier than a week before xmas though lol but this year we're only buying for 4 children but they still have a budget.. Nice to see they understand money and how there isn't a never ending supply of it.Totally debt free wohooo 2014

Hello ladies (and gents?)
Feeling very Christmassy today. Popped into Home Bargains today with the intention of buying some fat balls for the birds (I took £4 in cash and left my card in the car because I knew I'd be tempted) and unfortunately for the birds I saw the most gorgeous Christmas doormat for £3.50 so they lost out....I'll have to feed them some bacon rind later. It's not on the website or I would post a link...It's gorgeous, never have I been to animated about a doormat I assure you
Christmas shopping almost done, doing my mum and stepdad a hamper each (first time doing these) have to say I'm finding picking up smaller bits and pieces much more enjoyable than buying "larger" presents, and I just think they look so impressive (well, mine won't but other peoples do!) DD (3) almost finished, was reading the above post about the little boy writing out his list and breaking it down into A, B and C thats so cute...I'm getting "im going to ask Santa for that" whenever theres an advert on, she said it about some Flash wipes the other day
Only person Im struggling with is OH. I left my job in September and am coping with about £600 less a month which Im struggling to adjust to. I couldn't continue working the hours I did when DD started nursery (9am-12.15 daily) both my parents and DD's dads parents work full time, as does OH so I didn't really have a choice. OH is doing a PhD and gets paid to do it, and has already said he knows what hes getting me for Christmas - this is stressing me out as he helps me financially a lot but obviously he cant help towards his own present. With a lot of money he would be hard to buy for but with next to nothing its going to be near impossible! I'm thinking of making him something but inspiration is eluding me.
Anyway im sorry for rambling the only reason I came on was to ask if anyone has seen Cath Kidston fabric conditioner? Was reading the Poundland thread and someone said they'd seen some in there () but I've looked on Amazon and it doesn't seem to exist....hmmm! Curious! My mum would love some.
Hope everyone is having a good day xxProud Mummy to Ruby

my bosss is sooooooo lovely - he's worked the rota to give me right from christmas eve - week after new year off work :j:j
Think we will have to give santa train a miss at york this year (boooo) as it's only bookable for weekends and hubby hasn't a chance in he11 of getting one of those off between now and Christmas. off to the local museum it is again (good job its a good one).
Kids saw this in the asda magazine and want it for their christmas cake- but I can't read the small print/ the mag doesn't say and can't find it on website - does anyone know?? Is it sponge and jam or fruit??
On top of the box it says 'Four layers of moist madeira sponge filled with fruity jam and buttercream.'Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
Have caved in and ordered an elf on the shelf. Wasn't going to but I know my youngest will adore it!
Just got to decide on things he can do now! Any ideas?!
Feeling quite Christmassy today after a rubbish day yesterday (youngest started school in September and I'm feeling quite lonely at the moment) but today I went shopping with my mum and she got DDs presents - she's got her lots of craft kits
and then we went for cake and i had my first gingerbread latte of the year so def feeling happier today
Just sneaking in againI was on pinterest and spotted this:

Hi Everyone,
Feel like it's been ages since I've been on here and commented, becoming a bit of a lurker again
Hope you are all well!!
I'm heading off to Berlin for the last 3 days of November so very excited about going to the Christmas markets there! Not sure how much I will find present wise but definitely an amazing experience! Majority of Christmas presents are coming along nicely. Ended up with Mum for secret santa and she requested straighteners which meant a very long hunt to ensure I got the best possible ones for £25Found what will hopefully be a good pair and came in under budget at £20!
Found out I have to have an op exactly 2 weeks before Xmas so looking likely that I wont be able to do half the things I'd planned now. Also work have made me cancel all prior agreed leave in order to take the time off for the op.
At least I get to snuggle up, albeit in pain, and watch Xmas films for a solid 2 weeks
But back to good news...for anyone who wears Vans trainers and are size 7-12 (women and men!) Office are offering 40% off near enough all their range with free delivery. I have just bought a pair for my partner which came down from £57 to £35 and another from my mum to give him from £44 down to £26! Feeling very happy right now as my partner will never know that I got them cheaper Code is VANS40 xx0 -

I found it absolutely hilarious that he has put so much thought into it but completely wonderful how he doesn't expect his Mum to spend more than £100 on his presents.
I mean I know £100 is probably more than some get but it's not like Ipad,Xbox,Iphone etc it is completely realistic and not at all OTT and I just think it is completely admirable!
And aware that he might be pushing his luck by it reaching £100 he has option C which only comes to £50 which I think is great!
The way he has done it is so matter of fact but also then stated how he really would very much prefer it if he could have the items in Option A!!! ROFL!
Have any of your children done anything like this? I wonder if people would share some of their children's "wish lists" or letters to santa (if they have been done yet!)
my girls did their lists last sunday, after the first showing of cola ad had been on sat! Eldest (12) has asked for ipod shuffle, she really wants an ipad we have said outright no (imagine her face when she opens the one dh has got hidden away!!!), shes also asked for loads of smelly sets, cds, dvds, that kind of stuff, thing it comes to about £200 worth. Then i was passed youngests list (5), it says "ples can i haf a lego dols haws" (please can i have a lego dolls house)! Thats it, one item, i got it months ago for £52, now selling for around £80 as its on top 10 xmas 2012 gift list! Very pleased with my little babies, they aint greedy bless them! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

Chirpychick-How AMAZING was Breaking Dawn Part 2!! So glad you got to see it!! I agree about the computer generated face of the baby, thought they could do much better with all the technology around these days! I didnt read the book either as didnt want to spoil it, dont want to ruin it for anyone who hasnt seen it so highlight the white space to see what Ive written! >>
Apparently (according to my sister who has read the book) its not the same ending as in the book. In the book theres no twist and no fight at all! The whole cinema was literally gasping in some parts, it was fab!!
I watched every film from 2.45pm to 2.15am lol, so glad we had comfy luxury seats!! (same price as normal seats yes please!) When it was time for the final film there was technical difficulties and it was a black screen with the intro music and the characters talking!! Then the screen came on and it was part of the film a little way in and everyone shrieked and covered their eyes! :rotfl:Luckily it was fixed or there'd have been tears! :rotfl: We got a free gift which was a 'programme' (piece of card with a pic on it and what time the films would be on lol) but they had cups with lids and straws which were only £1.99 including a drink which I thought wasn't bad for a cinema. (you could choose Bella, Jacob or Edward) Empire cinema in case it helps anyone. Fabby night and SO worth it!
Am really happy as just managed to get OHs present for £21.12! Have been watching it for a while (Harry Potter 8 film bluray boxset) and noticed a deal on HUKD today. So pleased as I didnt think Id be able to afford it! (£35 originally!)'They only had one cow!'0 -
Best of luck to your DS tomorrow PinkSteps!
DomRavioli-Wow thanks for the Sky info, I didnt know you could do that!! Many a time Ive deleted something by accident!'They only had one cow!'0
