Sorry to hear about job losses :(

I've been looking on eb@y at toddler dance shoes. One of dd presents is a term at a dance school. The lady said she just needed shoes while she was little, until she's big enough to decide what dancing she likes best (they do all sorts and samplers for the younger kids). So I thought I'd get her the shoes to wrap. I know she'll love it. Even today at swimming she was dancing on the steps while the ladies in the next pool did aquaerobics lol.

I'll leave it another couple of weeks as her feet at growing so fast lately...

I am sure your DD will love them, my DS is dancing away and he is 15. I ordered him some dance shoes from e8ay for his birthday dance hamper. It will have shoes, new iPod and laptop, tickets to a dance show, notebook for routines, st tropez and a personalised tshirt (free from vistaprint). He is home educated so that has blown his last years schooling budget but as he wants to be a dance teacher I thought it was worth it (although not very mse). Now I just hope the corrective surgery for his feet is successful in January as he will be in plaster for four weeks which takes him to his birthday in February!

Oh and he has his Gold Bar exams tomorrow in Latin and Ballroom, think I'm more nervous than him

Have you thought about just buying a really nice photo frame? Or could you ask someone in her family if you can have/take a copy of a photo of her dad (maybe a pic of her with her dad) and put that in a frame, maybe even a frame saying dad? HTH

Yes this is a nice idea too, thank you. I think I will definitely do something, I just want to mark the occasion and let her know that i'm thinking of her and care.

Just found out I'm being laid off from work just in time for Christmas so my Xmas Spirit has evaporated. Love this thread though it's making me feel a little better.

Oh no so sorry to hear this! It is almost 99% likely I am going to lose my job next year and i'm like you, I love it where I work and that's what's making me sad. But as others say keep your chin up, hopefully it will just be a temporary blip!

KMR1984 thanks for sharing the pics of your wrapping, I finally got to look at them last night as I logged on at home. I always wrap mine with shiny ribbons and bows but i'm loving the string etc on yours, it looks lovely and traditional. I'm definitley saving that idea in my Christmas file! :D

I finally got to see the whole of the John Lewis ad last night, i'd only seen parts of it before. It brought a lump to my throat!! It's amazing how an advert can have the power to do that! Bless him trying to cross the road! :)

Forgot to add, the 3 pegs at the bottom are for our advent sweets. Dd reminded me the other day of when Santa used to put a sweet in the canvas advent every night in Dec, when he popped in to check they were asleep.:)
  • Hi! I've been lurking for awhile and the ideas on here are brilliant! I saw a sleigh on here I think it was made of cardboard ( it was lost and then found in the kitchen! ) is there a template for it?

After all your suggestions about the Polar Express I sky+ it last weekend but i have just deleted it and i havent saw it all (my 5 year old loved it!). Does anyone know when its on TV again?

    Thanks:T:T:T

If you go on your planner, on the scroll buttons where you can pick from all, entertainment etc, press LEFT on the buttons. It should have a "deleted" section. Press select, go to polar express, and press GREEN. It will put it back in your planner :)

Hey, our sky+ box has a deleted folder, go to sky planner, ALL should be highlighted, with ENTERTAINMENT on the right, press the left arrow, there should be a DELETED header, just press the down arrow, highlight what you want to keep and press the green button to restore :) x
