Hello. Guess what, I have actually completed my shopping completely now except for about £13 of fresh food the weekend before Christmas.
I used the special offer in Morrisons on all gold chocolates as a little extra for my dad and he said the other day that he used his slow cooker once and now its in the loft because it didn't cook things quick enough ROFL!!!! (If you remember he had part of his brain tumour removed in June which didn't go to plan and he is still recovering, sometimes he gets a bit confused!) so I am thinking of making him a binder of my favourite slow cooker recipes with clear instructions. As i said the other day i got the auto express thing for my hubby as a little extra.
I have saved £20 for a day out to our favourite garden centre & santa if we feel up to it.
Ive ordered all the frozen food (which will be delivered Saturday) also got pop for me and alcohol for hubby and our advent calendars. I managed to stack vouchers and got £18.50 off in the end.

I'd really like it if my hubby brought me some new pjs or something but i know he doesn't have any money so i dont expect he will.
we have kind of started this little in joke how when one of us see's something we say "if i had the money i'd buy you that, its the thought that counts" LOL

We used MIL's clubcard vouchers and got to see Twilight at the cinema last night (the midnight showing!!!) for free. Honestly, the whole time I thought I was going to go into labour right there and then, the baby found the sound very very exciting and it felt like he was going to punch his way out! I can't wait until the box set is released (hopefully in time for my birthday in feb) as i need to watch it all again! It was very very very good. I chose to not read the books because i felt like it would spoil the ending for me and i avoided reading spoilers all year! So I had no idea about the "twist". I thought hubby was going to fall asleep bless him (he gets up 6am every day, but had a 2 hour nap before we went) but he was mesmerised most of the way through! I got him to admit that he really likes it too LOL!! (I promised i wouldnt tell anyone). I am really glad we went, but I definitely need to see it again when im not so anxious about popping ;) I said to hubby we wont ever forget going to see that!! I hope everyone else enjoys it, I know there are some fans on here so I thought I'd share. But it's hard to say much without giving anything away.
The only thing I found disappointing was how unrealistic nessie looks as a baby! completely computer generated which just looked very wrong. But the rest was great.

  • Hey chirpychick i'm glad to hear you got to see Twilight and enjoyed it! Bless the baby, perhaps you can watch it with him when he's older so he gets to 'see' it next time! :) My friend lent me the first two films on dvd ages ago and I really enjoyed them, however it was at the time when the 3rd film had just gone out of the cinema and hadn't yet come out on dvd, so I never got around to watching it. I'd now have to watch the first two again as i've pretty much forgotten what happened to be able to watch 3 & 4! :rotfl:Are there only 4? Or am I all wrong?

sending hugs to those loosing their jobs and hoping something else comes up for you.

eeeek only 5 weeks to go...................and praying I don't need to go shopping again. My little town (sub town of the city) was crazy.....and it's a Friday would hate to see it at the weekends now, unless I can nip and fetch it in my lunch break

    Wilkinsons
    got a few christmassy makes
some red/. silver bell baubles (that jingle)
wrapping paper - looks like brown paper but with kids design on
    brown paper for adults pressie.
brown gift tags - I've ordered some die-cut holly leaves and berries off ebay to stick on them with a merry christmas sticker.

    Home bargains
DS1 got a santa stop here sign,
we got some christmas tea towels,
cake tin with gingerbread men on
    santa and snowman ballons
    santa oven gloves.

    Dunelm Mill

2 china mugs with birds on for the grandparents bird hamper. Am looking for a box/ tin of biscuits with garden birds on if anyone sees one. (not the £9+ ones online tho)

Hubby wants turtle beach headphones apparently............ anyone seen them or similar PS3 compatable ones at a good price ?? Argos do some that say they are but actually aren't (and the manufacturer has confirmed they aren't).

Need to get some scrapbooking paper/ embelishments for my mum - is ebay best?

my bosss is sooooooo lovely - he's worked the rota to give me right from christmas eve - week after new year off work :j:j

Think we will have to give santa train a miss at york this year (boooo) as it's only bookable for weekends and hubby hasn't a chance in he11 of getting one of those off between now and Christmas. off to the local museum it is again (good job its a good one).

Kids saw this in the asda magazine and want it for their christmas cake 598893.png - but I can't read the small print/ the mag doesn't say and can't find it on website - does anyone know?? Is it sponge and jam or fruit??
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • I popped into M&S at lunchtime and they have these really cute mini individual chocolate mousse puddings that look like Christmas puddings! So cute, I was tempted to get two for our dessert tonight! :xmassmile

One of my friends just forwarded an email she received from her son (aged 13) with his request of presents for Christmas, they have been categorised in order of preference and grouped in A, B, C with a total price for each category.

I found it absolutely hilarious that he has put so much thought into it but completely wonderful how he doesn't expect his Mum to spend more than £100 on his presents.
I mean I know £100 is probably more than some get but it's not like Ipad,Xbox,Iphone etc it is completely realistic and not at all OTT and I just think it is completely admirable!
And aware that he might be pushing his luck by it reaching £100 he has option C which only comes to £50 which I think is great!
The way he has done it is so matter of fact but also then stated how he really would very much prefer it if he could have the items in Option A!!! ROFL!

Have any of your children done anything like this? I wonder if people would share some of their children's "wish lists" or letters to santa (if they have been done yet!)

Aww that's actually really lovely (and quite funny!).

My daughter (coming up 5) has asked if she can ask Father Christmas for 3 things as she thinks she's been really good this year! I gingerly said yes and asked what they were, "some grown up big girl books, new felt tip pens and pink smarties" <3 I think he can stretch to that!

Chirpychick I remember going to see Lord of the Rings when I was about 8 months pg with DS - he went crazy!! I thought I'd have to leave the cinema and I spent half of it on the edge of the seat I was so uncomfortable.
    Mind you, he's still a total fidget now and he's 10 ...
