LV that Lego head is fab isn't it. Acrylic paint should look fab and take well to the plastic. If you are not happy with the way it's covering add a squirt of washing up liquid.
Linky Linky Linky please remember your roots when you are high flying:) Don't desert us for pastures new we need you
KMR1984 loving your wrapping, it's my favourite bit.
Welcome mumlady1 your presents sound wonderful.
We've missed you msgiggle you have been busy
Pinknfluffy I think that sounds a lovely idea. You are so thoughtful. I think your friend will love it and be touched that you've remembered:)
His missus I'm doing a similar hamper for my godson. I've used the takeaway secrets cookbook and chosen his favourite curry Tikka Masala and bought the spices needed for that one. Don't know where abouts you live but an Asian supermarket is the best place to pick up your spices at a fraction of the cost..
Moneysavingmumofone and everybody else going to the twilight marathon have fun, enjoy yourselvesxxx

My close friend's dad died the day after boxing day last year so this will be the first year anniversary, I wanted to get her something meaningful so she knows that i'm thinking of her. Her dad was 80 and not very well so it wasn't entirely a shock. I found a lovely pewter decoration the other day that says 'In Loving Memory' and you can insert a picture in. I was thinking of getting her one as a keepsake so that she'll have a momento of him at Christmas. She's a very close friend but i'm worried I might upset her? She's not overly emotional and she's very laid back so I don't think I will, but it's a very delicate subject!
Have you thought about just buying a really nice photo frame? Or could you ask someone in her family if you can have/take a copy of a photo of her dad (maybe a pic of her with her dad) and put that in a frame, maybe even a frame saying dad? HTH0 -

If you live near Clacton, you can come and wrap mine. I absolutely detest wrapping presents. Because they all have to look perfect it takes me ages.
Last year I put everything in gift bags. Nobody complained, except dd, who walked into the lounge on Christmas morning and said
' Nice to see you put so much effort into the wrapping this year':o
Am going to wrap things this year. Just can't bring myself to start.:(
oh dear omo :rotfl: your dd isnt by chance a teenager is she! i love wrapping, i probably now love wrapping more than unwrapping, i always do my dad's for my mum, when we discuss what he is getting her for x-mas he says "yes WE can go and get them, then YOU can wrap them" he says it with a smile though so i dont mind.0 -
I also got some pudding bin bags and some santa bin bags ((pic) can't remember the santa ones being mention before)) Don't know if it has been said before, but they would be great for wrapping those big awkward
Hi sorry if I have missed it but where did you get the bin bags from, you're right about akward pressies, I have a couple of doozies to wrap and they look ideal!
Thanks:D
Sorry On My Own my quote marks seem to have disappeared!
they are from poundland, with the normal bin bags you have to really look though as easily missed, i gave my mum a pack and she had one in on saturday no doubt the pack will be gone before christmas :rotfl:0 -

I managed to find 2 lovely wooden reindeer decs 98p each, im going to write kids names on them, and these are going to be for santas special present (which is their main pressie each & they dont get it until they open the cracker at xmas dinner & find the first clue for the scavanger hunt inside...very excited about this, first year ive done it!!). I also got a pack of the little foam shapes that im going to use to dress up presents, and i did something which is very unfamiliar to most of us mummys...i treated myself!! 2 pairs of xmassy pj bottoms, some lovely farisle boot type slippers, and a bottle of baileys! I am now going to be a good girl & crack on with the ironing & housework & wait (or try to) until after our evening meal before getting into my new nightwear, cracking open the baileys, and switching to christmas 24....hurry up 6pm!!!
i love the idea of a scavenger hunt thanks pinkfluffy0 -

Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum but beginning to get a bit excited now with only 40 days to go! I think I need to get out more :-)
Anyway, am LOVING the already wrapped presents! They look fab, good job. I hate wrapping. Love buying, hate wrapping, love gift bags, tissue and a nice bow, lol.
I have some teenage girls who work for me & last year I made them either little Girls Night In hampers. Got a box & wrapped (yes I did!) it nicely, added some shredding & bits of lameta for sparkle, put in a big bag of popcorn, pringles, a nice boxes of sweets, a bottle of shloer - wine for the over 18's - a girly DVD. I wrapped the lot in that nice sellophane wrapping with a big bow. It looked great & the girls were absolutely thrilled & had a real laugh telling me afterwards about their night in with their mates. Best part for me was that the whole thing cost about £8 but looked soooo much more! BTW - I also made a boys version of this but made it look a bit more manly!
Anther really popular present for this age group was Christmas stockings which I'm sure you've all done anyway. I just bought lots of little bits - nail polish, mini deoderant, hand wipes, hair clips. All the little bits that girls love. I wrapped them individually & put them in a big stocking. Again, it cost me less than a tenner but the girls loved it because they had lots to unwrap & everything was useable. They also liked the fact that they still got a Christmas stocking as their own mums had thought they were too grown up now!
welcome mumlady1, nah you dont need to get out more your in the perfect place we all love x-mas0 -
De-lurks to say Hello and to say there were no Christmas pudding sacks in my Poundland this morning.:(
I found this online this morning
http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-lego-pencil-holder
OOps sorry - it's a bit big
and bought a jar of hair gel in Poundland today because it was the right shape. Reading the instructions it says to use a glass baby food jar (bit small I'd have thought though) but the jar I have is plastic. Does anyone know if acrylic paint would stick to a plastic jar?
i love that thanks and luckily i have some yellow paint now to find a suitable pot0 -
