snugglebunny - thanks for the heads up about the Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe book, my mum bought me Meet Me At The Cupcake Cafe for my birthday and I really enjoyed it so definitely want to read this one! I've nearly finished The 3 Day Rule so need to stock up!

I downloaded this yesterday and had finished it by this morning, it was great! Obviously not high quality literature :rotfl: but so Christmassy and warming, I couldn't put it down. And some of the recipes look nice too! :)

Would love recommendations for similar books if anyone has any? I feel like something light and frothy at this time of year (shouldn't admit that, being an English teacher of course...!) :D
  • Morning lovelies!

Just a bit (more) help needed please, I'm wanting to buy some miniatures for hampers (baileys, wine and whiskey) but can't seem to find them anywhere! Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Sorry I only seem to come on here for help, I am a chronic lurker and LOVE this thread xxx

Am at work at the moment, so can't post links. I have one to a miniature site. Will post this evening when I get home. I think they are called Just Miniatures. May be worth putting that in your search engine, and seeing what turns up.

Forgot to say, it must have been something I ate yesterday that make me sick. I feel fine today, just very tired. Think I got about 3 hours sleep. On the plus side, I made loads of Elizabeth Shaw tree decorations. I got 3 boxes for £5 in our One Stop on Friday. Not sure if I like them, which probably means they will sell.:rotfl:

Thanks for this, I will definitely get a copy! There has been quite a few recommendations on here, I think there was a whole list at some point - but i'm not sure what page it was one, sorry!

Really glad to hear you're feeling a bit better OMO. x
  • Quick question, hopefully my fellow Christmas nuts can help :)

Im thinking about making a chocolate slab for my step dad who is diabetic, so does diabetic chocolate melt the same way and set the same as regular chocolate? Should I just make him a mini hamper???

bunbun2 I had something similar recently, whats wrong with these people?! was overtaking parked cars in a side road about 200 feet from a junction and a bloke flew round the junction into the road, I was already passing the an cars but instead of waiting he carried on going (far too fastd and he had loads of time and space to see me and wait), I screeched to a halt half way past the cars as I thought he just wasnt going to stop and would hit me, he started waving at me to reverse! I didnt have much choice, reversed back and he waved his arms at me, wound down the window and yelled 'I LIVE IN THIS BLOODY ROAD! ...I said 'so? does that give you the right to drive like that and nearly cause an accident? you dont actually own the road as far as Im aware' ... he swore at me and screeched off in a cloud of dust, what an as$ !!

the page is horribly stretched, very odd!

Not feeling very christmassy at all today. Our car got broken into last night and the kid's in car dvd players were stolen. They were hidden away under the drivers seat with a coat over them but whoever it was must have known they were there as they were the only things stolen! Our car insurance company will cover the dvd players but dh will lose his 6 years no claims bonus. Trying to decide if it's worth it or not. Also gotta pay out £60 to get the broken window replaced. Not a happy bunny.

oh no honey!:( bloody people make my blood boil! have similar issue with NC and excess now when somebody hit OH, totally their fault too which they fully admitted at the time ... but typically when theyve had a chance to think about it they then start to lie through their horrible cheating teeth!

hope you and the kids are ok, had mine broken into a few years ago and its so upsetting xx
  • MaggieMCQ-The robin sounds lovely, I do have a soft spot for robin decorations! In Asda they do giant white mice and white choc jazzies for 10p each in the kids sweet section, would be good to put in your brothers mug. The mug actually sounds perfect for one of my brothers, will have to look out for it. :rotfl: Good for your nan, I hope it made that woman think! Poor you, last thing you needed when you felt rubbish anyway. You sound like me with the manners, I go a bit overboard on thankyous especially in shops. Everyone takes the mickey out of me but I cant help it. Thankyou when i hand the items over, thankyou when i hand the money over, thankyou when i get the change then thankyou as i leave. :rotfl::o Think thats why it stings more when people accuse you of being rude because you know you're 100% not! Bah humbug to them anyway, yay for everyone on here! :D

moneysavingmumofone were we separated at birth??! am just the same! :rotfl: my pet hate is when people bark 'excuse me!' at you, I believe it is 'excuse me PLEASE!' and then 'thank you!'

Sunday I held a door open in a shop for a couple of people, two said thank you, to which I smiled and said 'you're welcome' the third just stalked through and ignored me I said 'Oh you're welcome too!' she just looked at me blankly, jeez - manners anyone? I can't stand bad manners, no excuse at all for it - Maggie Im laughing my a$$ off about your gran, good for her! would love to have seen that!:rotfl::T
  • i dont know how to add a pic on here? but ds is is going to make his teachers baubles.

ive bought some 5cm and 10cm polystyrene balls. i had a trial run last night on the smaller ball (i need to add more glitter as its a bit patchy in pic) so i covered it in glitter and tied the ribbon.

hopefully ds will write the teachers names on with them 3d paint things but hes in yr 1 so not too sure how that will go?

then im planning on wrapping in cellophane. im worried about all the glitter coming off though? has anyone got any ideas what i can use? ive heard of trying hairspray, so might give that ago.

also how can i tie the ribbon to make it look pretty? any help and advice would be great, thanks!
