  • Thanks for the well wishes everyone. :)

The lesson went well. The kids were engaged, the objective was clear, everything ran to time. I really, really enjoyed myself. Although names were a little awkward on the pronunciation front - certainly at first :o [the school is in an area that is almost exclusively Asian in ethnicity :)]... They've said that they will call to let me know. Not sure when to expect that, as I think they have lesson observations spread over a couple of days... Keeping my fingers crossed anyway - it would be fantastic to be back in the classroom properly.

Like others, I nipped to Tesco on my way home. No sign of the B1G2F deal lol. The checkout assistant looked at me like I was silly when I asked, to double-check. I am at work tomorrow and no where near a Tesco, so I probably won't be able to pop in again for a while. Heyho - I hope some of you are able to benefit from the deal if [and when] it starts. :)

I bought some lovely gift tags today to go with one of my wrapping paper sets. I seem to have three now. Black and silver. Kraft paper brown and red. And then one that is white, with lots of cute little multi-coloured messages on - it is the latter I've found tags to go with, as the tags I have for the others wouldn't really work. I feel almost bad for not making them, as everyone here is so crafty, but they were only 50p for 40, so I thought that was a reasonable price. :)

    Hello,

Does anyone have any good recipes for jar recipes e.g. cookie ingredients in a jar. Also can you tell me how long these will last once put in a jar.

    Afternoon folks :j

Last night I sorted out all the christmas presents that were scattered about our bedroom. Now they are in order, each person's gifts are bagged seperately. I have more presents in the attic for our kids and my parents, but I made a note of them last week.

I need to get DH to go up to the attic tonight after work to bring down the wrapping paper and christmas cards that I bought in the sales last year. They'll probably need to dry out a bit as my attic is a bit damp. Plus it will give me an idea if I need to buy more or not.

Yesterday I bought a turkey crown for christmas dinner, I'm not a big fan of turkey but DH thinks he MUST have it at christmas :D I'll do it with a gammon joint. For the meat eaters amongst us, what meat do you have for christmas dinner?

We always have turkey, usually an enormous crown despite there being just the 2 of us so that there's plenty of leftovers to satisfy Hubby's craving for leftovers :rotfl:

SO relieved at the US election result. My DH is American, my daughter is part American and the thought of that magic-underwear-sporting misogynist in the White House legislating away her rights had me very worried.

I've finished my Christmas grocery list and it's huge  Some of it I think we must already have in the pantry, but most of it is fresh stuff so last minute, heavy and expensive. I'm not trusting fruit and veg to home delivery either, they'll send me the crappiest of everything. We're having beef for Christmas dinner, last year we had duck, the year before that chicken and before that I think goose.

I'm also feeling a bit :/ because after I'd finished and wrapped all the stuff and sent off my Christmas shoeboxes I felt a bit flat. I found a website that has a page where people who have very little money can post wishlists for gifts for their kids and bought a few things but there are a couple of people who are abusing it massively (same site has a lot of assistance communities and people were posting to all of them - so if someone posted in one community they might receive 4-5 items, but posting in 6 communities means 20-30 gifts and the other requesters maybe not getting anything) and it just made me very sad. I've sent off five gifts to five different families and think two of them were scammers :( Hopefully they'll all enjoy their gifts, I just feel a bit sad that maybe I could have spent my money better elsewhere.
