abcdefghijklmnop wrote: »Hi I generally lurk listening to all the happy Christmas planning! I absolutely love Christmas :rudolf: and spend at least 6 months of the year negotiating how early I'm allowed decorations up in the house... (boyfriend is officially the grinch but we've negotiated 1st Dec so far...)
I've just had an idea and wanted you lot to tell me if it's silly as nobody else seems too excited by Christmas yet! My boyfriend isn't too keen on chocolate but is an obsessive tea drinker... I've noticed twinings sell individual tea bags on their website and even have some christmas and winter ones! Do you reckon it would work if I made an advent calendar?! New flavour of tea each day! Was thinking of making little pockets for each individually wrapped tea bag? On a Christmassy background (tree shaped maybe? Rudolph? thoughts?)
I think it'd cost less than £10 so I could do it as an early present! What do you think?
I love that idea! you could hang them from a cut out tree shape like baubles with ribbons tied across and round like you would a square parcel? or you could clip them on to a tree shape cut out with those little pegs you use for hanging cards?0 -
morning all! I wll look out for Lego slippers on my travels too
I was very interested to read about those with very tall for their age children, as my DS is at the petite end for his age, he's always complaining that he's 'small' (his isnt that small! but as he grows - so do all his friends, so he still feels small, although most of his mates are similar height!) and I have told him for years that he gets away with more cos hes more petite and cute, he doesnt listen though, I may have to show him your posts! My ex friend (long story, turned out not to be a friend sadly) her DS was very tall, he towered above the others at age 5 - and one time an elderly lady told him off in the supermarket for crying, saying 'what is a big boy like you doing crying!?' there is so much wrong with that sentance I'd have been very cross myself, but she didnt beleive my friend when she told her 'excuse me! he is only 5 and very tired after a full day at school!' all the males in my family were petite but shot up to 6 foot in their mid to late teens, but I do find people can be insensitive, at the airport this year somebody asked my DS his age and then said 'no way, you arent 12!' ... cue one very grumpy 'I TOLD you so Mum!' - there is no way I'd comment on somebody's height or their appearance at all, is it just me??I'm always telling him he is absolutely fine as he is, only for somebody to comment on his height!

Ameyturtle-Very best of luck today! Im sure your first shift will go great! :T
DamzelInDistress-Yaaaay at getting the Rudolph game. The PomBear snowmen were in a wire basket at the end of a random aisle in my Asda!
clayton79-:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:@ christmas bikini!
popularfurball-Thats a lovely idea for your nan.
Snugglebunny8-Im with you on never commenting on someones height/appearance, theres no reason to! My DS is 7 1/2 and in 10-11 years clothes (I think they will be too short by new year ) and size 2 shoes. Hes always been in a bigger size clothes, he was 9lb at birth and really long! Some people just seem to think they can comment on what they like and will pick on anything about someones appearance. When DS was about 2 he tripped and hit his mouth off the edge of the toilet!! He chipped his front tooth and over time it went grey. The dentist said to just let it come out so we did but it took its own sweet time and only fell out this year lol! Anyway several people have made comments to him about it, ok two people (I dont hold grudges honest :rotfl:) and they both said something along the lines of he'd been eating too many sweets! I work so hard to keep his confidence up, i dont need strangers saying things like that to him!! Anyway back to christmas loveliness, sorry.'They only had one cow!'0 -
Snugglebunny, I'm 5'1 and people still comment on my height now I'm 33. He could try framing it as a positive - Isn't it brilliant?! I know I'll shoot up in my mid-teens like all the other men in my family, but for now I don't have to pay adult prices because I look young and I get away with so much... *cheeky smile*
I like telling people how I get mistaken for someone in my early 20s all the time and what an ego boost it is.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -
Happy christmas, I will do some preparation for the big day, and it is also my father's birthday. I will pick some gifts for him and plan a party for him! Can you give me more advice?0

Aw bless him! My middle dd (will b 6 in march) is tiny and people always comment, infact a few people have asked if her and dd3 (2 years younger) are twins! She hates it so she has learnt to say 'good things come in small packages :-D She wears 3-4 clothes and had had the same size feet for 2 years! Nightmare getting her school uniform! Both dd2 & 3 were premature but it seems it has affected dd2 size wise and dd3 development wise, funny how these things work hey.
On the note of a Xmas bikini (sorry no idea how to multi quote yet!) of anyone could actually find one I would be ecstatic! My best friend has a hot tub in her garden (not the reason were friends lol) and I think it would be hysterical if I could get her one, I always joke she will be sat in it Xmas day with icicles hanging off her hair lol.
Zippy, spidean pj's are ace! Dd3 has the ones with feet and it's a struggle to get them off her to wash them hehe.
So glad this thread will still be around after the big day, think I would lose my sanity if it were gone! I second how lovely everyone on here is, feels so welcoming and friendly, I love it! May even have to start Xmas shopping in January! (who I kidding, I'm always skint in January lol)
Still got a lot of Xmas things to get but worrying where I will get the money! Decided for my mum&dad, brother & his girlfriend and fil&his girlfriend I will give £25 vouchers each couple for a meal out - is that stingy?! I'll put a photo of the girls and a bottle of wine or something in too.
Hubby has told me what he'd like for his birthday and Xmas and they're very expensive :-( (we have his birthday the 23rd, fils the 24th and nephews 30th December - expensive times!)
Need a new tree this year, I do fancy a real one as I always remember when we got a real tree when I was little and the smell was divine! Hubby isn't that keen though, trying to convince him the needles don't fall out everywhere but he's having none of it lol.
Wow mammoth post - sorry!

Always after a bargain - you're teaching your husband well, my OH still has some way to go!
abcdefghijklmnop - fab idea for the tea advent calendar! It's lovely you are personalising it for him. Also On My Own the tea wreath is great too!
Vintage queen 72 - I love the majon jar candle holders with epsom salts - so simple yet so effective! I really want to make some!
Ameyturtle - hope your first day at Lush goes well and you enjoy it.Let us know how you got on.
Snugglebunny8 - I really dislike it when people comment on other people's appearences, it is not something I do myself. Ok fair enough, if someone walks down the street in a neon green lycra jumpsuit then i'd expect there to be some comments, but that is that persons choice to wear that outfit. What I really don't like is negative comments about someone's physical appearence - we are born the way we are and we cannot help how we look. And I know it's really cliched but it is how we behave as a person that really matters.0
