Thank you for the link to the 101 homemade christmas crafts - inspired me with the memory game (turning cards over to find matching pairs)... Every year becomes more and more difficult for buying for my nan as she has dementia and just doesnt appreciate things in the same way. I now make a range of food things for her as she enjoys them, but most other things get put away somewhere and forgotton - usual buy her a range of m&s clothes but the last three years worth only get worn if I get them out the wardrobe for her... and usually met with "Theyre not mine!!!" lol.
So Im going to make a selection of family photos into cards to play matching cards with - and put on a key ring so they can be taken out with us (she can be difficult to occupy and struggles with complex games and limited attention for crosswords etc which she used to love) so im chuffed at this idea:D

That's brilliant! I might try one of those for my outlaws... (whole family of tea lovers!)
I'm gonna hide myself away one night this week after work and see what I can come up with! I've banned him from reading my MSE posts at the minute so I can post a picture if the calendar works!
Don't laugh but... are there any online shops doing adults womens christmas PJs? (Making my first christmas eve hamper! Such a great idea!)0 -

how about buying this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Metres-Grosgrain-Ribbon-7-8-22mm-LEGO-NINJAGO-Scrapbooking-Craft-Kids-Boys-/271041634832?pt=UK_Crafts_Cardmaking_Scrapbooking_Ribbons_Fibres_EH&hash=item3f1b572210&_uhb=1 and sewing it or super glueing it around the bottom of a pair of plain slippers..you might be able to find a lego charachter fabric badge you could sew on to the top of the slippers hope this helps you
That's fab & even I might manage to glue some of that round some slippers. Have had a look on eBay & there are a few Lego patches as well :j

DS is also 6 and wears clothes for age 9 mostly due to his height and is a 13.5 in some shoes and in others... He's a 1!!
When he has a little whinge or talks in the way 6 year old do, about teddy bears etc in public, I get people looking at me as if to say 'why is that 9-10 year old boy acting like a 5/6 year old! I feel like putting a sign around his neck that says 'Im only six, I may look big, but I'm not' ! :rotfl:
I can't remember who asked about the lego slippers but I'll keep my eyes peeled and post on here if i find anything, It's really bugging me because I know I have seen some in the past year somewhere! I just can't think where!!
It may have been the lego shop!? But I couldn't say for sure. DS is a huge lego fan as well so we always look at lego things and have been in the actual lego shop a fair few times since it opened at the TC. May be worth enquiring with them via email or phone to see if they have
On your poor DS, I hate it when people assume things. It was me who was after the slippers. Have had some great ideas from people on here but will give the Lego store at the TC a call & see if such a thing still exists.
On a side note, what's the Lego place like at the TC? Keep meaning to go there when we're in the area but have heard mixed reviews.0 -

I absolutely love Christmas :rudolf: and spend at least 6 months of the year negotiating how early I'm allowed decorations up in the house... (boyfriend is officially the grinch but we've negotiated 1st Dec so far...)
I've just had an idea and wanted you lot to tell me if it's silly as nobody else seems too excited by Christmas yet! My boyfriend isn't too keen on chocolate but is an obsessive tea drinker... I've noticed twinings sell individual tea bags on their website and even have some christmas and winter ones! Do you reckon it would work if I made an advent calendar?! New flavour of tea each day! Was thinking of making little pockets for each individually wrapped tea bag? On a Christmassy background (tree shaped maybe? Rudolph? thoughts?)
I think it'd cost less than £10 so I could do it as an early present! What do you think?
I think the tea calendar is a brilliant idea! I like the idea of doing an alternative calendar to suit the recipient if they dont like choc.Damzel_In_Distress wrote: »I'll join you in the 'omg he's only six that seems to big' club

Thats like alot of the kids in my class, they are only 4&5 year olds but some have age 7/8 uniforms because they are so tall. Must be a nightmare buying new uniforms as they grow so quick! My mum had enough hassle with my brother in high school he went from like 5'5 to 6'4 in about 2 months, my mum was forever buying trousers! And shoes thats another story!!:rotfl:popularfurball wrote: »Thank you for the link to the 101 homemade christmas crafts - inspired me with the memory game (turning cards over to find matching pairs)... I think thats a lovely idea, Im using a photo idea this year for my bf grandmother who has alzheimers and often doesnt know who I am so Im collecting pics together to give her of us together. Doesnt sound very good, but makes sense to me!0 -
Just bought the classic game of monopoly with some of my amazon vouchers- thanks to the op on Hukd. Was going to get this last year but could not afford it. [We always get a board game in our xmas eve box]
Took DD2 to her first cheerleading solo comp today. She decided two seconds before her one and only dance that she was not doing it. Having paid to enter and for me to spectate. I picked her up and dumped her on the dance floor. I felt bad but since she got thru to the finals I'm glad i did.
Started my candy sleighs.. DD1 is telling what she wants on hers!Don’t put it down - put it away!

I've also seen people make cheese advent calendars, where they go and buy small bits of 25 different cheeses and keep it in the fridge!

On here no one will laugh at any request... You could ask for a christmas themed bikini and we'd run round trying to find one:rotfl:
You said on line so I'd take a look at Matalan was in there today and they have some really nice Xmas pjs in. Good quality to!! Tesco have got some in their Xmas catalogue as well. If its a trip to the shops then I'm sure good old Primark won't let you down!!0 -
Next had some lovely xmas jammies in their catalogue :-)
Quite pricey though imo!:j Debt free as of 04/10/2012! :j:xmassmile [STRIKE]Saving[/STRIKE] Spending for Christmas! :xmassmile0 -

Ok we'll just call it -
**THE YOU KNOW WHAT**2013 Chatter Thread
I'll add a link in this thread so everyone can find it.
I will also put links in the first post so everyone know what we are REALLY about.:rotfl::rotfl:
I think it may be a good idea to keep all links in the first post, so they can be found. I will just edit it when anybody adds one. This way in October we won't be hunting for links posted in June.
I have quite a few links ready to add. They are mostly 'Make Your Own Gifts' links. I don't want to make this thread a' make your own' one, but they will be good for hampers etc.
I love this thread, although I do tend to lurk rather than post.
I am looking forward to the 25th October, not because it will be two months till Christmas but because it is DD's birthday on the 24th and I always start my Christmas preparations in ernest once that has happened.0
