Morning everyone,
I'm another one that doesn't want this thread to go away. Everybody is so friendly and happy on here-even if they are having problems in their lives-yes there are plenty of other threads and loads of really helpful threads and posts but then there are others that seem judgemental and scary.
I was a long time lurker of MSE and had already started the meal planner and budgeting the shopping, and not using a different cleaning product for every different room in the house. BUT I only signed up to join when I found this thread and had read through a lot of the pages as this was a place I felt welcome.13 projects in 2013 0/130 -

Thanks all. We've put a monitor in their bedroom as we were quite concerned that they were stealing at night and therefore we weren't around to keep them safe (the boys share a room). This has revealed that the other brother (who hasn't stolen for 9 months) has started again!!! He took a box of jelly babies destined for my brothers hamper and has this morning produced the box as proof that his brother took it! ARGH!!!
I'm leaving it until later to present my knowledge to him - if I do it now I will want to kill him!!! See I'm not such a saint, lol.

Sorry dont get much time to post on individual posts, but congratulations to all new mums on here.
My Grandson was born at 2.29am this morning, he was 8lb3oz and is called Oscar. I have seen a picture and he is gorgeous, sadly I wont be able to see him for a day or so as I managed to pick up a sickness bug yesterday, still will make up for it when I finally get to hug him.
I had already bought a couple of christmas pressies for Oscar before he was born so half way there with him. I have also made a nappy cake for his mum.

They did have their 5 for £20 offer on: http://www.thorntons.co.uk/thumbnail/Offers/5-for-20/5-for-20/pc/2246/c/2397/2397.uts

I'd make them this year just to spite them :rotfl:
Or give them all a voucher. After all the effort you put in last year, go for no effort this year.
Tell them, as they didn't like what you choose for them last year, you thought it was better that they chose they own gifts this year.
If they were my in-laws I'd tell them all to sod off really.
(Can you guess why I've been single for 16 years ? ):rotfl:
Sorry but some people just make me made
actually I totally agree with you! I feel that is very rude and ungrateful too - Ive just seen the post below yours saying what the OP put in the hamper and it sounds really lovely, and so much thought gone in to it - I'd be so touched and pleased if somebody put so much effort adn thought into something like that for me, what an ungrateful bunch! I'd send them nothing this year as well!0 -
Im still 37 pages behind but getting there slowly!
Dont know if these have been answered but.....cornishorchid wrote: »Oh the black jack one sounds good, think I'm going to do this for my hubby and bro/sil
I've heard of putting them in the dishwasher...must be something to do with making the process faster? Has anyone tried it?or any other ideas for flavours, I was thinking of pear drops?
A few of us had a ladies night last Christmas and we all had to bring a bottle of flavoured vodka to try out. I did Werthers vodka, took a few weeks but was definitely worth it.Its best to leave it in the freezer and everytime I went in the kitchen I gave it a good shake. Freezer is best as it thickens it up. Was absolutely gorgeous! Others that went down well were pineapple cubes, blueberry sherbet, rhubarb and custard and jelly babies (separate colours).
I can safely say the worst was humbug vodka, everyone hated it!gingernutbizkit wrote: »Anyone any ideas where to get cheap but nice bottles to put my skittle vodka in?
TIA, Ging x
I just asked around family & friends for any half bottles they had that they had floating about in the back of cupboards with old remnants in that they didnt want and washed them out thoroughly. Failing that freecycle?
Doesnt sound pretty but this is how my Werthers one turned out
Hope its not too big :j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

My foster son didn't sell anything - he has no concept of money. Stole from my purse and threw the money away so he wouldn't get caught!! Just one of those things really. He's been with me four years and there's no question about him being with us for xmas. He's done sorry cards and will repay £50 over a yr from his pocket money. He's never stolen before but it's a regular issue in foster care. I now have alarms fitted but I hate doing this in my own home. He has good reason to be angry at life and I'm trying to meet his anger with love but on occasions it does get to me (although I try not to let him know this). His brother did the same to me last year but has finally broken his stealing habit. I just never expected it from this child.
He's on a part time programme for school so i intend to get him shopping with me to show him that it's also the time and effort he's cost us.
I think I'm more annoyed with the social workers response... or lack of one.
Thanks again Ging x
I'm so sorry that this has happened to you and understand how hurtful and upsetting it must feel, I just wanted to say I think it's amazing what you and other foster parents do, you have to be a very special person to deal with some of the challenges and I really admire anyone who was such a big heart and patience! I hope that doesnt sound patronising or silly, I really feel it is a brilliant thing to be able to do0 -
Gingernutbizkit - don't know how you do it - I'd be going mad!!
Tab1967 - ahh congratulations, hope you feel better for baby cuddles soon. For those of us who can remember the birth of this thread. Gleeks first words and there being some doubt if the board needed another Christmas thread I am so glad it was saved and 278 pages later very very thankful for it. What will happen when Christmas arrives I'm hoping we won't all disappear I'd really miss you all. X
