Ooooh Damzel that's brill. What good news well done you. Happy shopping:)
Gingernutbizkit I think you are such an example to us all. The love and kindness in this thread never ceases to amaze me. Christmas crazy people must be the best around:)
Tab1967 be prepared for your heart to melt, and to feel love like you've never experienced before- truly. Can't wait to hear news of your grandchildxxx
For those of us who can remember the birth of this thread. Gleeks first words and there being some doubt if the board needed another Christmas thread I am so glad it was saved and 278 pages later very very thankful for it. What will happen when Christmas arrives I'm hoping we won't all disappear I'd really miss you all. XThe secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do

Pips Mum - huge congratulations on the birth of your baby girl, I am so pleased for you! I hope you are both doing well and that your back gets better soon. x
kellyhghs - loving the snowman soups and hampers! It's really great to see what people have made. They all look fab, I hope you're doing more this year!
whitesatin - what a lovely idea with the paperweights, i'm sure she will love them! Some of you are so clever, unfortunately i'm not really creative so I never think of doing such things! This thread is great for inspiration though.
gingernutbizkit - I'm so sorry to hear about your Christmas stash, you must have been devastated and very diasappointed. I have to say you are doing an amazing job and I am very much in awe of people like you, I don't think it is something I could do myself as i'm not sure i'm strong enough! But the world needs people like you and what you are doing for these children is incredibly inspiring and admirable.
Nanamia - I thought the same recently - what is going to happen after Christmas? Are we all going to disappear? I for one don't want to as I start my Christmas shopping again in the January sales! Who am I going to tell about it?? :rotfl:0 -
Morning, I was hoping one of you wonderful MSErs would be able to help me find something. DS has very little on his Christmas list (more interested in finding ideas for his little brother) but one thing he's asked for is a pair of Lego slippers. I've hunted high & low & can't seem to find any anywhere. The only pair I've found (Lego batman) are on eBay & the wrong size but hey look like they were from M&S so they've obviously done them at some time but nothing on their website now
Has anyone seen any on their travels? Not bothered if they're Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter or anything else, as long as they're Lego themed. Can't believe Lego don't seem to have brought more out, I'm sure they'd be popular.
Anyway, TIA0 -
Hi, just about to do my marks and spencer food order and I can't see where you put the voucher code in, looks like the normal food order and the Christmas food order is a different ordering system, so maybe the five pound code is for the normal food ordering. I had my list, put my details in and it asked for payment details for the 20 pound deposit and no where to put voucher code in. So anyone that as done it already can you share any light on where it is. maybe the early bird offer and voucher code is not meant to be used together. hope someone can share any light. Thanks in advance x'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0

I'm making my 3 nieces a quilt each for Christmas. So spent last night cutting out for them all. Trouble is it detracts from Christmas shopping so am torn!! Need to multi task better!
Mind you had to laugh last week - nearly out loud. Was in Duneml Mill putting a few Christmassy bits in my trolley - they have a lovely snowman with lights entwined - anyway a couple walked past and the man said "urgh, Christmas stuff and its only Oct" I bet he's the type who leaves it til Dec 24th! I daren't tell him about this thread.
Got a few bits sat in my amazon basket and keep adding. Going to make little pots of gold with my nieces as place names for Christmas table. Have a small gift for each, will add golden sweets and scratch card. Do you then wrap those in cellophane?

Thanks, princesskitty29. I think having been a teacher helps me to be creative. I used to love making things with the children (special education so they needed easy things and a lot of help, many of them).
Another thing that worked well was to buy cheap picture frames from Ikea, paint them (or not) then glue on items in a theme. E.g. for dad's I would help them glue on nuts and bolts (very effective even though it sounds weird), buttons look good, even small felt shapes you can easily buy. Then I would put a photo of the child inside and it would be a lovely gift for their parents at Christmas/Mothers' Day/Fathers' Day/Easter etc. Shells look great too, the list is endless.0 -
Thanks, moneysavingmumofone, I do enjoy making things with the children.
Re the pjs, I always think of the red tartan (Royal Stuart?) as being Christmassy as I use a lot of tartan ribbon in my decorations. Children might not realise that though and might prefer something more obvious.
I like the idea of customising a plain pair.0 -

I love reading this threadI like Christmas and I like to be organised but not in the same league as most of you on here:eek:Ours is a quiet low key affair and we will not be putting up ( real) tree until school finishes.............about the 21st Dec. I have always preferred wooden toys to plastic noisy things and have been known to remove batteries from things that where given to our children from friends and family who didnt knoiw us well. Now are children are older we only but presents for them and we have a secret santa at our work places and one amongst our circle of closest friends - and this has to be homemade
We dont buy presents for each other. Sounds all a bit mean spirited but its partly through finances and the dislike of the commercialism that is now part of Christmas. We eat well and our children get great presents which I buy through out the year.
I think your xmas sounds lovely. :rudolf:
I know what you mean about the commercialism . I get sucked in every year and buy far to much, mainly secondhandceo not too expensive. Just had a chat with inlaws yesterday re presents and have said something small and they'll pay for swimming lessons. That way they get something to unwrap and some thing thats useful, and saves us money.
