These are last years pictures, this January i bought a x-display pre lit tree reduced from £350 to £35 to replace this one and lots more decorations to match the theme. I will delete the pics in a day or so though, I don't want to identify myself in RL! I cant wait to get it all out.

  • hiya! yes I do, I save M&S vouchers all year from surveys and save money each month for it, we have a Christmas Eve buffet with their party food (my kids favourite bit of Christmas!) and the Christmas dinner. I get their turkey boneless breast joint, its never dry, always really tasty. I also get their stuffing tray with pork and chestnut which is also really full of flavour.

I buy their tub or pouch of gravy, but find the 'luxury' one is much better than the standard turkey gravy, the one with port or sherry in it is lovely and rich, the kids like it too, I add turkey stock and red wine and reduce it down, always buy their sausages wrapped in bacon too - I use their goose fat or duck fat to make my roast pots.

I do love their Christmas pudding and mince pies, and we have their shortbread at Christmas too.

Ive tried almost all the brands and find these are the ones we like best, though appreciate people have different tastes! :)

We always have M&S smoked salmon as a starter, it's always on half price offer in December along with king prawns and bilini's so good to watch out for that, their champagne is lovely, both the labels they do, and they usually do a £10 a bottle offer for a couple of days in December. They had the pink champers for Valentines at half price so I hid a bottle away for next Christmas, hope this helps!

Great Post -Thanks. I am getting a M&S gift card this week and will top it up with £20 a month. That should give me £120-£140 for a great selection of m&s food and drink for Xmas.

noo they dont av a car its my sis in law, her 2 kiddies and fil who has dementia so i do understand why my partner wants to go its just getting my head round it, i like my house at christmas as we av a huge tree, buy half of poundlands springy decs for the ceiling totally over the top but i love it!

oh well im sure with some careful planning it will work if my stepsons with his mum she can do stocking n all the lil bits n pieces and we can give him a dsi he wants :)

then theres my 2 children who will be 5 and 9 so will have to keep prezzie numbers down as only got the boot and we will need to half fill that with clothes (not sounding good isit?)

and i guess il just save on a iceland or asda card n go food shopping up there (his family dont have kitchen table ) :(

you are most welcome Rebel Hedgehog! sort of know my way a bit round their Christmas stuff now - been finely tuning for a few years!! so if you want to know what any of their stuff is like Im happy to help if Ive tried it! :)

Turkey joints often at 20% off when they first come in end of November and they usually have 3 for 2 or 25% off the stuffing, sausages with bacon etc, so I often get those end of November too and freeze them - the party food is generally on 3 for 2 in December and most freezes 1 to 3 months.

sometimes we have their £10 dine in deal if it's one that has a lot of things we like, through the year - and I stash the bottle of wine away for Christmas, we had about 6 bottles last year through saving them through the year, saved money in December! their wine is usually about 6.99 so great to get it on the meal deal as it works out that the wine free mostly :)

great idea to buy gift card and add to it, I hadnt thought of that, may do the same myself! thanks for the tip x

plan B.. is there a way that you could suggest you have 2 x xmas, the proper xmas and boxing day at home, then an inbetweenie in Scotland, and make it Christmas no 2, I can see why hunny wants to go, and fully appriciate that, it seems a lot of upheavel espically for all the kids, hope u can come to a meet in the middle xx
