Thank you! Shall take a look at your blog :)
  • Well after a busy few days at work I've finally caught up with the posts on here.
My OHs birthday is 11th Dec so nothing xmassy is allowed to go up until after then. One year I got so busy with things that I never even got around to putting the tree up! But since I bought a small living tree a couple of years ago it's much quicker than assembling our old fake one. It's still surviving in it's original pot but I think it will need potting on next year, and after a couple more years I think it will need planting out in the garden. I'm amazed that it still seems to be doing so well. Because it's a living one I only bring it in around the 20th and then it gets put back out after about a week to 10 days. Even my OH who is not at all into Christmas (bah humbug!) quite likes the little real tree.

Think I'm going to have a M&S Christmas diner and all the trimmings this year. Anyone else done an M&S Christmas dinner?

hiya! yes I do, I save M&S vouchers all year from surveys and save money each month for it, we have a Christmas Eve buffet with their party food (my kids favourite bit of Christmas!) and the Christmas dinner. I get their turkey boneless breast joint, its never dry, always really tasty. I also get their stuffing tray with pork and chestnut which is also really full of flavour.

I buy their tub or pouch of gravy, but find the 'luxury' one is much better than the standard turkey gravy, the one with port or sherry in it is lovely and rich, the kids like it too, I add turkey stock and red wine and reduce it down, always buy their sausages wrapped in bacon too - I use their goose fat or duck fat to make my roast pots.

I do love their Christmas pudding and mince pies, and we have their shortbread at Christmas too.

Ive tried almost all the brands and find these are the ones we like best, though appreciate people have different tastes! :)

We always have M&S smoked salmon as a starter, it's always on half price offer in December along with king prawns and bilini's so good to watch out for that, their champagne is lovely, both the labels they do, and they usually do a £10 a bottle offer for a couple of days in December. They had the pink champers for Valentines at half price so I hid a bottle away for next Christmas, hope this helps!

I bought a £150 Xmas tree at homebase in January for £15.00 . Can't wait to put it up this year.

When does everyone put up the Christmas Tree?

For us, it always goes up the first day of advent (I.e December 1st) this year it falls on a Saturday so perfect:T

:D 30th November ... but last year we only made it to 26th! can never wait to put it up, my daughter's friend puts theirs up Christmas Eve!? but .. but .. you miss a whole month of twinkliness!

I bought all new decorations in the sale after Christmas 2010. so used them last Christmas for the first time. I spent the last week of December decorating it in the evenings after my boys were asleep. Then put it out for the 1st. ill have to see if i can dig out a picture.
