I had a good look round the cheapy shops today to get an idea of where is best/cheapest to get certain things for pressies...didn't end up with anything though! But at least I know where is best now0

last year i discovered lidls mini stollen (sp) they are so morish and yummy. Think i worked my way through quite a number of packs last year. Must resist this year and just buy a couple of packs.
Have been thinking about my lists and updating. Several of the relatives decided last year that we would just buy for the kids - especially as we just swapped voucher - well i am hoping that we can do the same this year as it reduced the amounts quite a bit
good idea, we've worked on the basis once we said kids only we've kept to that, I would judt do the kids only,
Lidl stollen,I buy them for mum, they never last long she opens the packet and then there gone!! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
got a few bits bought/ordered today.
weve ordered dd's main present :jwhich is a pink tv and dvd combo, already got ds1's main present which is a wii, so feels good having hers too. with the baby were going to wait until nearer the time for his main.
ive ordered a geomag glow in the dark set for ds1.
for ds2's xmas eve hamper, i have picked up a thomas the tank engine bath set (bodywash, bubblebath, mitt, etc). was only 1.99 from home bargains
i have decided in the xmas eve hampers this year i am not going to put a torch in (for scattering reindeer dust in the night) instead i have found two swords and a wand made from that stuff that you snap and shake so they light up and it lasts for so many hours (59p each from home bargains).
a couple more dvds arrived today from the disney magical rewards. i have now decided instead of giving the kids a character box each full of them i am going to buy a dvd storage unit and stand it inbetween their piles of pressies and say that theyre for both of them. will hopefully banish any 'that ones mine' arguments/fights
my mum is sorting through her bedrooms as shes having them refitted and came across a few boxes that she has given me; a set of three hatboxes in green with flocked damask design (i had given her these for her 50th filled with 50 things, which she loved but no longer fit in with her new rooms).
the design on the boxes are a perfect match to mil and fils bedroom wallpaper so i could maybe give them to them to have on display but what to fill them with
there is a couple of wicker baskets with lids and a open wicker basket so if i decide to do hampers ive got the boxes :T
there is also a small gold glittered star box, which i may well keep and display at xmas! maybe fill with some sweets for the kidsMummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
i got married in dec 08 and at the time we was all feeling the pinch with the wedding, birthdays and xmas.
so my bro, sis and myself decided we would only buy the kids gifts that xmas as a one off. we used to buy each other plus partners and spent £20 on each, usually on a giftset or something else with little thought gone into it.
that £80 saved really helped all of us and weve decided to keep it that way. so now we only buy each other gifts at birthdays, but buy the kids for both.
its much easierMummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Think I'm going to have a M&S Christmas diner and all the trimmings this year. Anyone else done an M&S Christmas dinner?0

if you want to use 3 hat boxes for inlaws - how about doing one as a wonr box, bottle wine, + 2 glasses, another for mil = could do a pamper hamper, and fil does he have a hobby - add some small bits into it, then mil can claim the box from him them, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

thanks for your ideas, but i should have maybe explained the inlaws in the last post.
they are really lovely people but nightmares to buy for
both have health problems meaning neither can drink.
mil doesnt 'do' pamper. she is extremly hygienic (bit ocd-ish to be fair) but doesnt spend no time doing it because its nice if you know what i mean? its a case of a quick shower, wash hair, brush teeth and done!
hobbys wise she likes reading (only certain authors whos books she buys as soon as thyre out), jigsaws, she has a nintendo ds and a game usualy features in our gifts to her.
fil, on the other hand, his hobbies are fishing (but he hasnt been at all since i met him 8 years ago :rotfl:), woodwork (has made some beautiful stuff in the best, but a new hip and him waiting for a new knee has put a stop to this), his garden and thats it!
if he wants anything such as a new tool he will go into b&q, pick up the most expensive and buy it. although hes always grateful (i think its genuine) i always feel that our stuff doesnt compare!
dh is a gardener and has just done the garden for him so everything is done there.
while they love anything that my kids make them they arent very sentimental, so things like '365' thoughts in a jar, journals or box of hugs kind of things would be ideal.
so theyre very hard! i think i may make a foodie hamper? set into three groups, i just dont know what! bearing in mind one group must be smallish to fit in the small hatbox and one muct take up a lot of room for the bottom!
i have in the past made fil a liqourice hamper (his fav) and last year he asked for the toffee hamper from thorntons.
mil i have made a hamper of milka choc, turkish delights and jaffa cakes (her guilty pleasures)
so would like to stay away from these if possible.Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -

We always pay for the turkey from M & S at my parents' house as our contribution, but we have actually never hosted christmas dinner, not tried to get out of it, that's just the way it worked out.0 -

We had one last year but it was a three bird roast with all the veges and trimmings etc and we honestly didn't really enjoy it, didn't feel it was worth spending more on. On mothers day we got the mothers day dine in for £x and we didn't enjoy that either. Maybe we just don't like m&s food?!?!.........................lolSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
i don't like 3 burd roasts - we had the meal on Orient Express, reading the menu, it says there still may be shot in the bird........ the dog eat well that night! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
