Popped over to Costco in Reading this morning, my sister then wanted to pop to Matalan...imagine my excitement whe I saw a Home Bargains had recently opened on the same retail park! Got the reindeer DVD, looks fab and a bargain at £4.99. Then went into Matalan and got myself some gorgeous christmas pjs - red, white & blue reindeer fair isle type bottoms. Also got cream basket in there for my brother & sister in laws hamper
A little while ago I had a moan because Home Bargains was coming to my town just as I was moving and this was the one! I'm jealous to hear it's really good! I'm technically not that far away so could make a trip over there. I also used to live right next to The Range and they had an amazing Christmas collection last year! For people who don't like the idea of their shoebox contents being redistributed, maybe Mary's Meals is an option you might consider. You fill a backpack with the stuff a child would need to enroll in school and they feed the child at lunch daily so the child gets lunch and an education.
Thanks for this info, will definitely look into it.msgigglewick wrote: »Also made this! this afternoon.. its meant to be a grinch head keyring lol im going to attach the finished one to the bottle of Grinch juice im putting in the grinch hamper..
Got one more elf duvet to make tonight, then hopefully my new wool will come tomorrow so i can make the xmas jumper for dd4! if not i'll start on some scarfs.

That's amazing, well done! Some of you creative people are so clever! :T0 -
Sorry just realised I keep making lots of posts! It's because I always have about 4 pages to catch up on and keep wanting to comment on things!
Thanks for to those of you who have given suggestions of where to get Yankee candles from, i've never had them before but after reading this thread I can't wait to get some!
I bought two mugs last night for my parents, one saying 'Her Ladyship' and one saying 'His Lordship'. I'm sure they don't need any more mugs but I just liked them! I was thinking about jazzing them up and popping something in them and wrapping them in cellophane (this won't be their only present!) does anyone have any ideas?
I also bought a Christmas oven glove the other day - I couldn't help myself! It was from an independent pound shop so was cheap as chips (but is apparently made to the correct industry safety standard) - my OH just rolled his eyes! I know you'll all appreciate it though.0 -
I received my first Christmas card today! I reckon the couple that deliver our Kleeneze catalogue (that is who it was from) must read this thread.:rotfl:0

The thread just grows too quickly! I can't remember who posted it but thank you to the person who wrote about the Rudolph Scene It game at Home Bargains, just picked two up - perfect for the Christmas Eve hampers I am making!
I have 2 hampers - one for each set of neice/nephews (my sisters kids and my husbands sisters kids). I have made my neice/nephew a hamper for last few years (and they are lucky enough to have an elf visit them too!), but never done anything for my other half's family as wasn't sure what they'd think of my ott Christmas exploits. Anyway, we got married this year, so now i am a proper part of the family i thought why not do them a hamper too.
My neice is 6 and nephew 3.
My (new!) family have 3 kids boy 10, boy 8, girl 6 (all siblings).
each family will get there own hamper for the kids to share. got the game, will get them PJs, a christmas dvd, sweets, reindeer flannel, snowman soup and i want to put in a christmas book.
But i am not sure what kind of book 8/10 year old boys would read - any reccommendations would be appreciated! I am clue less on this age group!
Thanks

He brought home a letter saying they can go and see the pantomime through school........... typical on a day he can't do.
So promised to take him another time.......... till I saw the price. Just short of £25 for me and him to go and thats in the cheapest seats no where near the stage. looking at £30+:eek:
The operatic society do a slightly cheaper pantomime so think I'll have to look into that.
Yeah, it's not cheapIt cost me almost £40 for 2 full grown children (ahem, me and mum who has always wanted to go to a panto) to go - but it is front row exactly a week before Christmas so it's definitely worth booking as quick as possible to see if you can get closer before the masses try and book

Hi
I havent written much recently as busy organising ds birthday but all changed this week;
I got tickets to ideal Christmas home show too excited brought my christmas cake (m &s on offer using vouchers I had) brought a Heston Xmas pudding my mil was desperate to try this last year and did get the chance as could fine one so I saw one and got that. Brought 2 Xmas magazine prima Christmas crafts and another one I haven't looked at yet. Brought some gorgeous vintage style paper chains to make with ds and some bunting sets in wilkinson £1 each
I have finished seeing 2 of 5 stockings I'm making and I have lots more other ideas now from my magazines do I think I will be busy crafting for a few nights now! This is mainly due to me changing schemes this year from silver and winter wonderland to move vintage style so I'm making a lot of new decorations as well as buying a few added bits I can't wait to decorate our home what colours/ theme do other people go for?0 -

Now off to read the thread and catch up on what you've been up to!
My 7.5 year old loves any of the Jeremy Strong Christmas books (have a look on amazon, there's quite a few!) and my 9.5 year old would love the 'Horrible History Christmas'.
Otherwise how about a Christmas joke book?Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0 -
