The children go our local theatre each Xmas to watch a pantomine and thankfully that is only a few pound. for the New Theatre in Cardiff - for all 4 of us in good seats you are looking at close to £100. We do so much over Xmas though - the one thing the girls look forward to is the ice rink they have outside City Hall. I'll be taking DD2 for the first time this year - can't wait x0

Thinking of getting my Mum and Dad a digitial photoframe for Christmas - does anyone have one or know where I can get one from?0

I went to Next at lunchtime - they have wrapping paper, cards and gifts out by the till and a gift section has been put out as well. There is a display in the main window of some of the homeware items that are on the first floor as well.0

For people who don't like the idea of their shoebox contents being redistributed, maybe Mary's Meals is an option you might consider. You fill a backpack with the stuff a child would need to enroll in school and they feed the child at lunch daily so the child gets lunch and an education.
Warning: the bit where they explain how the backpack project came about is a tearjerker. I am welling up now just remembering it.
I took the little one to Ikea today, they had lots of Christmas stuff out and some of it is lovely.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

This is me all over - I won't go in the shed or garage and my OH despairs of me!This is the first time we've had a garden and I think it's becoming apparent quite quickly that i'm not going to be very good outside with the creepy crawlies! I think i'll stay in the safety of the kitchen and watch out of the window....:o

kellyhghs-I saw mirrored jewellery boxes in B&M a few weeks ago.
Minimoneysaver-The nearest HB to me are 12 and 16 miles away, if it was nearer I suspect Id have scraped the money together for the reindeer scene it by now lol.Unfortunately petrol cost is too much to go there for just that.
jorose-Well done on your bike bargain, am jealous!
Carlamarie-I think its a lovely thing to do, such a sad story.Have pmed you. x
ellie9ellie-We've done the shoeboxes for a few years now, even though Ive suggested it, DS' school dont do them so we drop them at a local drop off point.
OwnMyOwn-I have read that if a shoebox has too much they sometimes put some in the ones that dont have much or enough bits from each category. I used to know someone who helped pack the boxes and she said they'd often have to add bits (some stuff donated from local companies etc) as a lot of them were rather empty! I always add a bag now (drawstring type usually) as she also said they try to add a bag because when the shoebox breaks the child doesn't have anything to put their stuff in. I dont mind them taking out bits if they feel they have to, as long as it gets to someone although it would be nice if they got the whole thing as, as you say you sort of picture the recipient when youre putting it together. You can also track your box and you can find out what country it went to.http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/where-your-shoeboxes-go
LalaGoMay-I love the bright colours nativity at tesco, so sweet!Poundland have a lovely mini nativity, a sort of wooden/straw one. I love it.
