  • boo to not having a santas coming to ... here book lol guess we're far too naughty here for him to come lol

Went into town and finished off my number 2 brother and got a bottle of bright green apple sidekick which im going to relabel to put in my 18yr old brothers grinch hamper.. Decided to get chocolate limes as the grinch pills as green jelly beans will cost too much. Also picked up a tin of roses and the mixed sweets tin (love hearts etc tin)

Then went into primark expecting some xmas goodies.. wasn't out yet :( found the xmas throws which are nice so got one and got a cat onesie for dd1.. dd2 wants a penguin one but the females have no hat etc on and they only had xl of the mens ones so will pop in again and see if they have the small size.. nothing for my 10yr old with a hood either booo.. Guess i'll have to have a hunt again for their xmas trays and cushions etc i know that are in other stores.

good idea about chocolate limes! won't need so many either as they are bigger - could perhaps pad out with some of the green wrapped ones from Roses?

Don't have a Primark anywhere near us either  and what it would cost me to in train fare to get to somewhere like Birmingham would end up being more than I save, but hubby said he may be near one later in the week - what are the Primark fleece throws like? :)

like the sound of the pyjamas there too!

oooooo can I join in too? I'm a complete Christmas nut :)

This Christmas is not going to be nice for us as a family. My Dad was killed in an accident 10 weeks ago today. A tractor pulled out on him, my Brother and a friend. My brothers pretty badly injured, and the friend was very lucky to walk away with bruises and aches.

I still love Christmas though, but I think I'll like the lead upto it rather than the actual day. We are a very tight knit family so I'm sure we'll pull through together. The first of everything after a death is always hard.
We'll have Christmas dinner at my Aunt's house (Dad's Sister) she cooks lovely food and it's always a chilled atmosphere with the pups running around :)

I'm pretty pleased that I've got most the presents sorted so I can enjoy December rather than running round like a mad women :)

My Gran always since my Dad was a boy has bought him a bottle of matey bubble bath. My Gran passed away 3 years ago so I carried on the tradition. I'd already bought the matey bubble bath before Dad passed away - it was on 3 for 2 in boots.
I gave him a bottle for his Birthday but unfortunately he never got the chance to use it :(
I'm however going to carry on the tradition and give my brother a bottle and ask my DH for a bottle for me :) It'll remind me of my Dad in a good way :)

I've been listening to Christmas music for a while now and love nothing more than wrapping up in a blanket on the sofa, hot choc in hand with a Christmas movie on :)

    it's only 80 odd days away I think :)

is it only 80? yay! :T Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about your recent loss, and I hope your brother is recovering, hopefully we can help make this Christmas a happy one for you despite what you and your family are going through x

    Emalou88,

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. It must be a very hard time for you and your family.
I think carrying on with the tradition of the bubble bath is a lovely idea.

I too love the build up better than the day. My ds has asd, so it has to quite normal, and is often the anti-climax for me.

You have defiantly found the right place here. We will be here on good and bad days if you need us .

Own my own - It is hard and it will be exactly 6 months since the accident on Christmas eve :( but we shall try our best for my Dad to have a nice day. I know he wouldn't want us to be sad :)

Snugglebunny8 - he's doing well now, we were warned that we could lose him too. He's just a bit broken but incredibly lucky not to have internal injuries and to actually be alive. He also doesn't remember any of the accident so that's a blessing.
My Dad actually swapped places with my brother 30 seconds before the tractor pulled out. If he had'nt of done it's my brother who would of died - my Dad's a hero :)

I think one thing that I've learnt since Dad passed away (he had just turned 50) is that life is too short and so precious.
I'm striving to find hapiness now in everything I do, including the little things.
If playing Christmas music in August, watching movies and doing some Christmas shopping is going to cheer me up a bit then I'm going to do it :)

Thanks to everyone, this forum is wonderful :)

Ooh, lovely. I had to work on Christmas Eve once and it just totally ruined it for me. Usually I try to book off a whole 2 weeks over Xmas, but they wouldn't let me!
I can't even imagine what it's like for those people who have to work Christmas Day. Nightmare!
