Ooh, lovely. I had to work on Christmas Eve once and it just totally ruined it for me. Usually I try to book off a whole 2 weeks over Xmas, but they wouldn't let me!
I can't even imagine what it's like for those people who have to work Christmas Day. Nightmare!
In my last 2 jobs I had to work Xmas eve one was in a restraunt I had to work till 11.30 but got nearly £100 tips && the other in a nursery but we finnished at 12! My sister works in a care home and does nights but she has to work Xmas night!!Own my own - It is hard and it will be exactly 6 months since the accident on Christmas evebut we shall try our best for my Dad to have a nice day. I know he wouldn't want us to be sad
Snugglebunny8 - he's doing well now, we were warned that we could lose him too. He's just a bit broken but incredibly lucky not to have internal injuries and to actually be alive. He also doesn't remember any of the accident so that's a blessing.
My Dad actually swapped places with my brother 30 seconds before the tractor pulled out. If he had'nt of done it's my brother who would of died - my Dad's a hero
I think one thing that I've learnt since Dad passed away (he had just turned 50) is that life is too short and so precious.
I'm striving to find hapiness now in everything I do, including the little things.
If playing Christmas music in August, watching movies and doing some Christmas shopping is going to cheer me up a bit then I'm going to do it
Thanks to everyone, this forum is wonderful
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! Glad your brother is making a recovery! I'm sure the lovely people on here will help you make Xmas as enjoyable as possible for you0 -
I have managed to stay on top on the posts thanks to subscribing to the thread
Loving the blanket and welcome Emma (and all other newbies). Love your idea about the bubble bath Emma - its the littlest things that we remember about our loved ones that are the nicest and help to keep their memory going. As said we are a friendly bunch and will be here to help you in your mission for Christmas cheer x
Well ladies, even though I had mountains of housework to do and an interview to prepare for tomorrow I found my self in the 99p store buying masses of chocolate for my choc sleighs. I spent £6.93 and managed to make 3 - one large one for my uncles sweet hamper, a medium one one for my aunts hot chocolate hamper (its choc so kinda fits in lol) and a small one that will go in my kids Xmas eve hamper (has 3 chocs and a candy cane each which is enough for them) - I usually put sweets in etc for when they watch their movie so very happy I managed to get it from the leftover chocs. Will have to decide which child gets it though as they have seperate hampers. Thinking I will put the sleigh in one hamper and popcorn (maybe even a popcorn tree if I can make it) in the other and get them to share. Wondering how I am going to put it in their though without them questioning as they saw the pics of the sleighs on the pc and know I was going to make one for my uncle and the hamper comes from Mrs Claus! Might have to add them after they get the hamper to avoid questions but really want them inside it. Any ideas?0 -
I work in a theatre as does dh so have always worked Xmas eve. It's quite magical really as all the kids are so excited and its all twinkly! Live it. U dont do it anymore as I'm part time now. But when I did I used to leave after the show, about 8pm and drive to devon with Xmas songs in the radio. nothing lovlier than driving home for christmas playing! Lush!
Sadly it usually meant I had to get back for boxing day. that was always a pants shift. we used to cheer it a bit ht having a tradition of wearing our pyjamas to work and everyone would bring sweets etc til New powers that be stopped the pjs. Humbug.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble! X0 -

Hello Emalou, nice to see you here too! I'm afraid we're all christmas-obsessed on this thread.
I discovered there is a Primark about 20 miles away from me and would love to go there but have already bought fleece onesies for the children's hampers on ebay so probably not much point really. I wish they would trade online.0 -

Im so sorry to hear that, I lost my sister 7 years ago, she was only 14 and I personally found christmas very hard the first year, especially as we always toast those who are not with us just before we eat..set me off good and proper! but it got easier and its lovely to carry on traditions and also start new ones as so many on here are doing. Also as you said it will be exactly 6 months, the dates always match in odd ways if you see what i mean.
remember the fun and laughter you shared together
on another note, i managed to get DS innotab 2 from the ELC with a 20% voucher they sent me for his birthday! bargin, plus a few games, i'll be happy to pass on the code..not sure if it would work for anyone else on the site, as i dont know if its a one time only code (doent say in the email), but its worth a try..PM me if you would like it:)0 -

Yes! I'm sure Primark must be pretty much the only big store not to sell online. It's SO annoying.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0
