  • Hello All
First time poster (been reading since August!).

Someone was asking, many pages back, about a photo bauble - I was in the range and they have some silver coloured stars which are little photo frames. Really expensive feel, quite weighty and not tacky (in my opinion). I'm thinking of getting a few and changing the string to velvet ribbon, then use them on the wall after Christmas.

Also, Aldi had Christmassy Reindeer toilet paper last year, a bit pricier than the regular stuff, but it's a goldy print.

Boot catalogues is out there somewhere, someone one here HAS ONE . Wilkinsons one is out next Wednseday (the 10th). Not sure on any others.

I got a boots catalogue on sunday (truro in cornwall) they had a stand full of them next to the boots mag
Have to confess I was alittle bit let down by it this year, I feel its all very expensive for what the pressies are, especially as you know on dec 26/27 they go down to 50%-75% off! Is it just me? Im not a scrooge but just hate paying over the odd for things!!:)
  • I have been catching up on some of the much older posts today, and i notice a lot of you mention using amazon vouchers you got for doing surveys and product testing? can someone tell me how this works, what the best sites are etc, Im all for a few extra amazon spends, and as dh works nights, it would give me something to do of an evening!
    thanksa in advance :rudolf:

I found out about some of these through here as well.I signed up for 2 sites about 3 weeks ago:
    https://www.valuedopinions.co.uk/
    http://uk.mysurvey.com/index.cfm?action=Main.home

I'm not sure if they are the best ones but I cashed a £10 amazon voucher yesterday for valued opinions and I'm about two thirds way to a £10 one on mysurveys. so for me I'm happy with that in the short time. Also a lot of people aresaying that they get vetted out of a lot of surveys but that hasn't happened to me very often, I think if you do a good profile you might get more but I'm averaging about 2 surveys a day.

I have also signed up for panelbase but haven't had any through from them yet. I'm also waiting for an invite from another one but can't remember the name but when I do I'll get back to you.

I tried swagbucks but it involved looking for things on search engines and obscure things that I can never seem to find, seems like too much hassle so I'm not going to bother with that one.
  • :xmassmile Oops, just got back from Tesco's where 2 tins of celebrations, 1 of haribos and some choccy biscuits seem to have fallen in my trolley:snow_laug
  • just received my Rudolph Monopoly!!!!!! am so pleased with it! am determined not to open it and have a play!

very pleased with how Foyles dealt with this issue, the customer services lady did exactly what she promised so would certainly recommend buying it from them if people are undecided, just be sure to leave plenty of time for it to get here from the US (which obviously you would anyway! ) xx

the list price for this in the USA is $39.95+7.99 tax (then plus shipping), so the price from Foyles including postage is very competitive
  • PinknFluffy28, sorry I meant to say I do Valued Opinions too and they are great, you normally get sent one a day or so, don't always qualify for them but always check :) you can get 25p-£4 depending on the survey.

It builds up quite fast, each £10 payable you can apply for a voucher to be sent, you get online vouchers like Amazon, or gift card ones like S'sburys, iTunes etc, or actual paper vouchers like M&S, I save them all year and split between M&S and S'bury for Christmas food, and Amazon for gifts, it's really interesting and I enjoy taking part, its great that every one you do is different :)

I have been disgustingly organized this year I got all my cards, wrapping paper, crackers in the sales in January...I have an asda savings card for the food shopping currently at £500 and I have bought all the kids presents when I've seen what they want on sale (Amazon, Argos Buy 2 get 1 free, Asda 2 for 20 etc) all I have to do now is a few token pressies for friends and I'm finished. I've actually shocked myself I'm normally the stressed red faced woman running around Xmas eve!.. I intend to have everything wrapped next month.

    well done! :T it's a great feeling!

I bought all my cards, wrap and tags, ribbon etc back in January with big reductions too ... the trouble is I see all the new stuff now and think 'it's so pretty!' I've managed to get some of the really pretty wrap from M&S and the snow scene cards pack on 3 for 2 with the 20% off code + free store delivery, so was still good price and I will already have a start on next year! am such a sucker for pretty glittery snowy scene cards! :D

am very bad at picking up extra things that I can't resist, once Ive 'finished' so this year am trying very had NOT to!
  • Hi I've been inspired by all this talk of Christmas hampers & am thinking of putting together an oriental/Japanese/Chinese (loose theme I know!) based hamper for my OH.

So far I've got an M&S oriental set which includes small bowls & mats (I think it was from last year's range, was a 99p ebay bargain) and want to include a cookbook probably Wagamama & possibly studio Ghibli DVD.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Preferably for small bits & bobs?

    All help much appreciated :)
  • all this talk about xmas bathrooms has made me decide i need one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Winter-Pal-Fabric-Christmas-Shower-Curtain-Holiday-Santa-Moose-Polar-Bear-Design-/380474398074?pt=Shower_Curtains&hash=item58960a957a
but dont think the OH would agree have u seen the price with postage

    OMG
I think I would give my right arm for this :rotfl:
I love it! Shame about the price though... and well, the fact that i have a glass panel in the shower and no place to actually put it :rotfl:.
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona

maybe some food, noodles, soy sauce etc so they can have a go at cooking some recipes, chopsticks if they're not included in the set you have...
