Anything that stands still gets glitterfied hehe. :D No wonder I always lose everything at christmas, (one year I was hunting at something silly like 2am xmas morning for my stepdads main present, a tiny digital photo frame keyring. :rotfl:) with my messiness and tinsel everywhere theres no chance of everything being in the right place!!

LalaGomay-Love the toilet paper and also love how when christmas is involved even toilet paper is exciting. :D

chirpychick-Thanks I didnt think of looking online but alas, none in his size out of all 3 designs! :( I go to Asda a few times a week so its my mission to get one. :D Hmm sorry Im not the best at thinking of pressies for men, is there anything on his ebay watch list or amazon basket that hes been after? My OH is always adding junk to ours! :rotfl:

I popped into my local Range yesterday and they only had the Xmas chocs out - none of their Christmas decorations etc yet :( I love looking at all the sparkly things :)

Because I've been planning and thinking about Christmas for ages already, I've sort of lost all proportion with normal timescales. Will all shops have their full Christmas ranges out by say, the end of November do you think? Or maybe even the beginning?

I wouldn't want to make a special journey to my local Range too early and find (like lazysheep said above) that they didn't have it all out yet.

This happened to me yesterday (or so I thought!) I visited our local Range and was surprised there was hardly any Christmas stuff out. As I was at check out I happened to glance upstairs and hadn't realised the whole of upstairs was dedicated to Christmas! Trouble is my daughter is in a wheelchair and their lift wasn't working gggrrrr

  • I am desperate to get something special for my hubby. I feel for him so much, he did say today that I am really hard to live with at the moment (and i know i am!) then I just burst out crying :rotfl: and he felt terrible but thats just hormones i said i was fine and i was glad he felt able to talk to me, he wasn't mean or anything. I wanted to help towards the mobile he wanted but he isn't sure he wants one now, I wanted to maybe do an avengers hamper as something to give him at the end of christmas day as a surprise but i only have the dvd and a t shirt and i cant think of anything else to put in it and everything i have seen is super expensive. I don't want to get him anything baby related, I want it to just be something a bit luxurious/treaty/indulgent just for him. Does that make any sense at all?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
I hope evrythign is OK with you 2 now...but like you said its good that he feels he can talk to you
on the avengers side of things..im doing a kind of comic book theme for my OH stocking, only got a few things, but will be hunting for more. I have brought him a marvel 2013 diary http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marvel-Comics-Retro-Deluxe-Diary/dp/3832761047/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349035578&sr=8-1 have to say this was only £6.50 when i ordered it last week, also got him marvel top trumps, plus on play.com they have some fab tshirts, just type in marvel and loads of things come up. Ive seen an aftershave/shower gel set on a website somewhere, but always a bit dubious of not being able to smell it first..sometimes its horrible! also a=maybe looking for some boxer shorts or pjs fo him
Hope this ives you a few ideas?
  • Good evening everyone, I think I started a bit of a to-do with my earlier post about spending. I just want to clarify that I too believe christmas is about so much more than presents. My kids geta lot, because we work hard, and because they are truly wonderful, grateful and loving children, they work hard and never complain when mum has to go to work on a saturday, or when daddy is away in scotland for yet another week, so in our eyes, they deserve the very best we can give them, whether that be our time, our love, or our money. The only money we owe is on our mortgage, we never go into debt, we are sensible and live to our means. I only posted about previous spending because up until discovering this site, and in particular this thread, I had never realised how much fun it could be to make homemade gifts and to shop around sooo much for bargains. Ive always shopped throughout the year, we have 4 kids between us, and a large extended family, but I must admit i tend to just buy what i see. Next year I aim to plan better, buy for less, and spend less, not because I have to, because I want to. I want to save and take them away for new year 2014, something we have never ever done, and isnt in our budget, but with the help of mse and threads such as this, I can and will fit it into my budget. Nobody should have to justify why they spend as much or as little as they do, and I feel sad that I seem to have initiated people to do so. We are all in the same boat, we love christmas and we want to give our loved ones the best we can, and I know that regardless of how we live, what we earn etc, we all will, because we have heart, and we have each other! :rudolf:
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

With him being so young, could you not get some toy story bits from ebay etc even carboot sales? As long as the condition is ok he wouldn't know the difference and you could potentially save a fortune.
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
  • :eek::eek::eek:
I've clearly missed a post somewhere. What throw is this please? :D
I've wanted a christmas throw for months now but all the ones i've seen have been £20 plus, which even if i had the money i still wouldnt pay.
I can't find a pic of it on the net anywhere, but it's £5, fleecey, and has that red, white and black Scandanavian style pattern that's everywhere at the moment. With lovely Christmassy reindeer!

LalaGomay - where did you get you Xmas toilet paper from? REALLY, REALLY want some, but when I looked last year was v expensive!

Kayandy - who do you bank with? I am with Natwest and they have machines in some of their branches that count coins and put it straight into your bank account, with no deductions or fees so better than coinstar. I use the one in Stockport (a few miles from Manchester city centre) but I am told one of the Manchester city centre branches has one too.

OMG just googled Bents after reading about the place on here, despite living in Manchester all my life I have never heard of it, but will definitely be going there this year!!!!
    Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:
    Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44
    Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.10
  • am so sorry about your dad SugaJen, of course you arent putting a downer on things! it's important to remember that as well as being a magical time or year, it's also a time to remember those we have lost, I miss my FIL so much at Christmas as we all used to gather at their place and have an amazing time, he made it so special especially when the children were tiny, so I do understand how you are feeling - he was like a dad to me and a wonderful dad and grandpa. If you want to chat about your dad we are very happy to listen and to be here for you xxxx

Will have a name think! :D

    Hi
I lost my brother 10 days before Christmas two years ago and with 3 young children I decided it was time to remember old and make new traditions. It's can be so upsetting but reading through threads like this last year made me do things for my kids.
Keep the ideas coming everyone embrace happiness and sadness and work through it the best you can xx :A
