Used to love mooching around Selfridges & Harvey Nics and then having a good shop in the Arndale. Some decent shops!
Now im stuck with a rubbish shopping centre and have to go to Westfield for a good old shop!
I miss up north!!! :T
Ermm does your bf still have family in Bramall?, that you could come up and visit, the Sat or Sun we are all at Bents?:D;);)

I was lucky enough to have a cadbury chocolate machine when I was a kid, dont ever remember having any refills though.....lol
But I always wanted a Mr Frosty and Mousetrap and never got either one of them.
I always remember my mum buying those orange and lemon slices, like jelly coated in sugar every christmas and looked forward to them every year x
I always wanted the cadbury machine but had Mr Frosty and Mousetrap. You didnt miss anything, mousetrap took that long to set up that you got bored before you started playing and my Mr Frosty used to have shavings of plastic in my slush.
With regards to spending everyone has different budgets and circumstances. It always annoys me on some threads on here where people make snide comments about how much other people spend. To me money saving is about getting best value for your cash. Regardless of wether thats on a tin of value beans or a £600 handbag its all about getting things that you want / need at best price.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0 -

I totally agree it's about spending time with family, I love catching up with friends and family in December, then on Christmas Eve morning closing the door on the world, getting out the lovely food and chocolates and putting on the Christmas movies and music, just the 4 of us is perfect to me.
We had no money at all when I was growing up and my mum really struggled for everything, but I still had magical Christmases, it's not the amount you spend really it's the thought behind what you are given
like so many people ahve mentioned about the Cadbury Chocolate machines they all longed for when they were little, I always wanted to have one but didnt, but I had other lovely things - but I got one for my DS this year
Thankyou so much for that!! Will have a look when I go to town tomorrow!! Since my stepdad came along we have a party Xmas eve with his family! We spent Xmas day together then see mums family Boxing Day as its grans birthday!! This has changed over the years but still have party Xmas eve & still go mums families Boxing Day! chirpychick-Sounds like you had a brilliant day! :j LOVE that you and bubs will have matching onesies!! Too cute!
Ive seen the penguin onesie in Primark and it is lovely. I really want to get DS one but nowhere has his size except for Primark who had an awesome dragon (or something similar) one but it was a really thick soft one and DS overheats really easily so needs to be thin. Asda supposedly does his size but none in stock at ours.
Totally agree about helping others less fortunate, we have always been pretty skint (OH had just been made redundant when I met him 9 years ago so skint from the start lol) but I do what I can. Some ideas are:
Shoeboxes
Postpals elf/reindeer www.postpals.co.uk
The christmas appeal in asda
NSPCC Santa letter
Food bank (put £5 or so worth of food in)
Give to homeless (Last year when we went to see the reindeers in maidenhead there was a homeless guy and I so wanted to at least get him a hot drink, something to eat and a few pounds but I was so shy and unsure of how he'd react but this year Im just going to do it as I felt so bad.)
Then obviously the usual donate to school fete, bake cakes etc.
Hope you feel better soon chirpychick. x'They only had one cow!'0 -

I know Asda Trafford Park used to have a coinstar machine in the foyer, but haven't noticed it since they have had their recent facelift.
So, it might be worth finding out if Asda Eastlands has one and you could go there on the way into the City centre. I can't think of anywhere in city centre Manchester where you could do it.
Sorry, I know that's not much help.Aims for 2014

Remember coinstar will take a cut of what you put in and now the vouchers have to be used on the same day you change your coins up, the bank will eventually take them they do have a limit to how many bags they can take at a time. Also try the post office they might need change and change it for you
Hope that helps0 -
I have been catching up on some of the much older posts today, and i notice a lot of you mention using amazon vouchers you got for doing surveys and product testing? can someone tell me how this works, what the best sites are etc, Im all for a few extra amazon spends, and as dh works nights, it would give me something to do of an evening!
thanksa in advance :rudolf:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

Asda Trafford still have it it's just up the other end of the store near the new phone shop and optician.
Why don't you try the main post office in Manchester I'm sure they will change it for you.0 -
Chirpychick - Meant to say, hope you feel better soon and thanks for your detailed shopping info.
They are all my main xmas suppliers, if you see what I mean, so I found it really useful.
The penguin onesie sounds lovely.
Apologies to all about my MANY posts today. I am not trying to hijack the tread or anything, but last time I fell behind I had to catch up on 25 pages, and so I am trying to keep up to date, and I keep seeing interesting things to comment on. :-oAims for 2014
