Made some shortbread today trying to perfect it to go in with people's presents so obviously as it was a test set me and my 2 Ds have had good fun sampling. Bought some cellophane bags to present them nicely. Gonna try and do as much as can handmade as do have a lot to buy for so will be asking you lovely posters for advice as time goes on. I got some samples of shampoo & conditioner in the post today. I am collecting them for my god children's Xmas hampers. Got £130 in M & S vochers so far (£100 from Sky!) and £200 in my Xmas savings account. Very pleased with myself so far!

  • Hilstep2000 that is fab wish I had managed to save that much I did start a savings tin in January and was doing really well until the car broke down and had to empty all the penny jars etc,
Decided gonna do some salt dough letters to personalise presents and get the kids to do some stamps on some brown paper for the grandparents. Even if haven't spent much at least it will look like we have thought about them. Nearly half way there now people woohoo : )

    thats a great idea!
a couple of years ago i bought some polystrene baubles from hobbycraft, they was only about 80p each and the kids coloured them and rolled in glitter. i pinned some ribbon to the top and they used them as gift tags on their grandparents presents.
all the grandparents use them on the tree and all love them for the thought thats gone into them

2day i made a journal in a jar gift for my nanny (bday) but thought i would mention as i got it off organized Christmas website lots of fab ideas on there and the prezie cost £2 for the jar and writing pad outta £1land paper and a pen i had and it looks fab a good gift idea :)

anybody do anything on new years eve with the children i would like to plan something coz new years eve is always a bit of a flop christmas come down :( in this house and id like to plan something to make it more exciting any suggestions?
  • Hello everyone! Lovely to see a group of people who are also Christmas mad like me! I have definitely taken after my mother....always a fantastic, well fed and sparkly christmas even on the tightest of budgets!

Last year my sister recieved a fab hamper of homemade sweets and nibble bits - I think I'm going to steal this idea for grandparents etc.

Like many of us on here I grew up in poverty (well by UK standards, thankfully not world standards!) and have struggled ever since, this year will be my most skint Christmas as an adult. Thought I had nailed the budget present buying business - sales, 3for2's, photos in frames, extra effort with wrapping etc....then the new OH says we should buy stuff for the house for Christmas!

Perfect idea (as my first experience of dating one of the male species I have to admit I was impressed with his thoughtful idea!) as we are in desperate need of some furnishings, but much harder to tart up and 3for2 on!! It's difficult to add a personalised crochet finish to a sofa!

I'm going to have to have a look at this Organized Christmas website :) I'm still ploughing on with the survey websites for my vouchers/extra money whilst not working and got ebay going! But it would be fab to find some (very simple) homemade type gifts to make things look fab without spending much! :)
