Thanks Cc - not taken the wrong way at all, I think the same I don't want to spend just for the sake of it, but when the other 2 have a big pile and she doesn't I'd probably feel pretty bad for her! She's rather easy going so doubt she'd care lol

Probably get her a couple of pieces of clothes then (again shes bloody hard to get clothes for as shes so skinny and tall lol) perhaps a voucher?

Oh I can only see this getting harder in years to come

feel for you!! with my DD (15) she tends to go through the websites or catalogues (H&M) and shows me stuff she likes, things like coloured skinny jeans, tops etc - so once I get the general idea I can go into store or order online. New Look or H&M vouchers go down well.

How about something like the zebra or penguin knitted hat with the matching knitted slipper socks, gloves etc? or the Rudolph slipper boots? (Next website, just type penguin, zebra, rudolph etc into search box)

Mine also loves a fleecy warm blanket to snuggle on the sofa with

cute umbrella? some nice notebooks, gel pens etc (Sainsburys 70% off) or a couple of DVD or CD's from Amazon Marketplace?

    Books, annual or nice calendar

Is she into something specific such as Glee or another tv show? could get a few bits from ebay or Amazon to pad things out, nice pack of biscuits or chocolate?

am lucky as mine is pretty easy to buy for as is DS .. the trouble is i can't stop! :rotfl:

thanking my lucky stars they arent into the designer stuff!!

    good luck!

What about some little bits from Lush, they have got some small fairly cheap bath bombs and they've just released a new product called Fun which is a soap, bubble bath, shampoo and is like playdough consistency it comes in 5 colours which have different scents this might be nice for her. They are also due to launch their Christmas presents on the 6th of October and I've seen a sneak preview and it all looks very good and cute. And because they use as many natural ingredients as possible it won't do any harm to her skin. :)

  • Hi I've been lurking for a while now & just spent the morning reading back over previous posts. I'm a twenty something postgrad student who is living with OH (and soon to be in laws). Hoping that this Christmas will be the one where I stick strictly to the budget. So far have bought all Xmas cards (January sales) and made a start on hampers. Definitely going to make some chocolate sleighs for OH/ dad/ brother :)
  • Morning everyone,
    Moneysavingmumofone-
The Christmas film I watched was The Santa Claus. I picked the boxset up last year in adsa for £7 (was very excited about this). Thanks for the nose cone idea and the kind words about snowman.

Money maker - Christmas films are great. I was very excited last year when one of the sky film channels turned into a Christmas film channel. Think I watched most of them.

    Eljaycock - thanks :)

OH keeps telling me its ONLY September, I say actually its nearly October and therefore nearly Christmas!

Well I have some pastry to make but shall be popping in and out through the day.

I think she is at that age where it's good to get money and vouchers so she can go shopping for things she likes (very grown up ;))
I like the idea of presenting them differently so it seems like she has more to unwrap.
I also think nearer the end of October places like New Look and Primark have a few nik nak bits that she would probably like for not too much money. to help bulk it out a little bit.

One thing is though - we do all get to that age (pre teen/teen) where things become more expensive and so the present pile gets smaller. As she is your eldest it will feel wrong that her pile is smaller than the other 2 but it's just one of those things.
I think I was about 12 when I realised quite a dramatic difference in present sizes but it was because I had things like Dvd's, CD's, "make up", all those things add up to more than a few little toys that you can pick up cheaply. If that makes sense?
Everything is always better after a cup of tea
