  • :rotfl:I haven't caught up yet so forgive the butting in random post but I got my Cello bags this morning so I decided to separate the Hotel Chocolat stuff to see how many gifts it would make and just because I am a little poorly with tonsilitis I wanted something fun to do.

Anyways I have made 8 little bags of presents total they will be used as follows

to go with our Christmas Eve Hamper (2 slabs and 1 milk chocolate batons).

1 reindeer poop, 1 dark chocolate batons in mum & bf's hamper

1 4 selection & 1 reindeer poops with photo of baby in frame to step dad and gf

1 4 selection with photo of baby in frame to BIL & SIL

and can you tell me if they look ok? I don't know how people make posh labels so didn't worry with that this year but will research more for next.

    Hotel%2520Chocolat%2520Christmas%2520Presents.jpg

Each item cost £1.18 inc the bag.
The cheapest item on Hotel Chocolat website is £1.50 (http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/Baby-shower-chocolates-P111218/)

and usually you would pay £3.50 for a slab which hubby and I now have for our hamper for £1.18.

So I definitely think this idea what fabulous.

P.s Just noticed they have Christmas stuff on their website

P.P.s If I hadn't eaten 4 chocolates in the process that would have been 9 gifts at £1.05 :rotfl:

Bags look yummy. I love hotel chocolate. I have ordered the deal and going to wrap up for dh to give me. Last year I ordered £40 quid of stuff of their website for him to give me so £7.95 is definatly a bargain.
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.
  • How do I get the Hotel Chocolat deal because it all looks yummy!
  • Well the M&S window is still papered up, so no display yet!
Popped into Thorntons before as I noticed xmas bits but the door. They had calendars, lollypops & chocolate polar bears etc like the do the hollow rabbits at Easter. I think Im going to get some lollys as treats, but nearer the time. I have nowhere to keep them, where they wont melt!
I was going to put something else but I cant remember it, hopefully itll come to me!

Re -12 days of Christmas - how about a dance CD for Ladies Dancing and some chocolate eggs for french hens ,
  • You may find that if you do invite them this year they may start to expect it every year - especially if they are geting on in years! Can you invite friends and invite your parents for boxing day?
Do they live lose enough so you could pop over to their house on Xmas morning/evening?

It's the expecting to come every year that I'm bothered about! They usually visit their friends on the morning and used to pop to my brothers for a couple of hours. Problem is they're not the easiest people and much as I love my Mum she drives me nuts :D

Not really that close for a flying visit plus with 2 v. young children they won't wanna be parted from their presents and if I suggest popping over they don't know when to go home.

Think I'm gonna see if the friends are coming first, then decide.

    Thanks for the input :)

I have a few relatives (don't want to state which on open forum :rotfl:) that I have to see over Christmas and I try to see them on the 23rd or the 27th, it isn't that I don't love them but I find this way they don't ruin our plans and I really do think Christmas can be the only time that people get to spend time off work together and a few days together (husbands and wives with their children) and older relatives whether that inc mums and dads or not dont always appreciate that. So sometimes we do have to be a bit selfish. I think as long as you are making the effort to see them at some point during the festive period that should be fine.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

I find this kind of dilemma really difficult to answer as for me, christmas is totally about family, but I appreciate it's not the same for everyone else. For me, I couldn't leave them on their own.

I know what you mean about it being for the family and I quite agree. They would normally have popped to my brothers and then spent the rest of the day on their own anyway. Andrew and I always had Christmas dinner with our own children and then all of us would meet up on Boxing Day at mums.

I will be seeing a lot of them over the Xmas period They're coming to mine along with my SIL and niece and nephew before they go away and then I'll be at theirs Boxing day and staying overnight, even if they came to me Christmas day!

Now it sounds like I'm trying to justify myself! I'll make a decision next month when I've spoken to our friends. Thanks for you input :)

    Xmas Saver!
    Skittle Vodka going well.
They changed colour almost immediately. I used , green, purple, orange and yellow. (I don't like things that taste of strawberries, so red was out).
Lets just hope they taste OK. Not sure how long I have to leave them in the vodka. I was thinking 2 weeks ?

Thorntons do personalised chocolate (Would be LOL) gift tags for £1 :snow_laug
They really make it look like you have put some extra thought into the gift.:rudolf:
I wouldn't leave it too late to get them, as they tend to sell out near the big day.
  • Dont get me wrong, I love my parents and rest of my family to pieces, and I still grieve for my brother every day, but for me, a self confessed christmas nut, I know christmas would be relegated to a 'misery affair' because they would mourn my brother all day....and I still love getting ready the night before, laying all my clothes out that im going to wear, putting all the presents under the tree, ripping open our presents first thing, making a gorgeous breakfast etc... and I couldnt do that if I was with my parents.

    Good luck! x[/QUOTE]
Don't think I could have put it better my self. Thank you x
